Native Houstonian born in '78, been in Clear Lake 20+ years. Nice place and sometimes too easy-going. One of the best collections of local restaurants in the entire metro. The hurricane risk scares people away. NASA lost influence after the Shuttle program was canceled; chemical engineers quickly took over. We don't have an "Energy Corridor" but we have good mix of people from different backgrounds. Since the Covid years a wave of young people from the inner loop has moved in. BTW, 3:55 I-45 has always been trash. #1 for drunk driving and fatalities. It's summertime now so lots of reckless kids driving to/from Galveston & Kemah. From Hobby to the north loop, driving is sometimes like what you'd see in Mexico.
OG Houstonian!!! Thanks for checking out the channel! 👋🏽😊. CL has a charm to it that I enjoy whenever I’m out that way. Some of the most interesting residential architecture.
I appreciate this video-thank you! Under contract for a home in Clear Lake now, moving from AZ. Fell in love with a home in this area and just learning a little more about the area. I’m glad to hear so many good things about the area.
This is so informative for my husband and l. We are moving to Texas from England in July next year, we will be working in La Porte but are focusing on living in Clear Lake. What would you say the commute time would be for us from CL to LP?
Congrats in advance ☺️. You should be under 30 minutes commute. Right now it’s saying about 20 minutes but it’s mid day Sunday with not much going on. Let me know if I can help with your transition. Here’s a link to my calendar: calendly.com/myagentlathan/client-consultation
That’s a solid plan. That’s the only way to really take in our neighborhoods. Once you’ve dialed in your budget I can put together a tour schedule together for your February trip.
those new homes are probably because the original house burned down and they had to rebuild lol clear lake homes are from late 1960s-1990s. My neighborhood - houses have not flooded. Barely came on the lawn for Harvey. Since then Exploration Green has been constructed - 200 acre nature preserve to help with flood control.

I know about it. I grew up in clear lake in the 70’s. It was close to new then. Live in central Texas now.
It was very very nice then. Love Bay Area park there.
Definitely has some charm. I imagine it was amazing back then
Bay oaks was getting going when I was a young adult. They were big homes for back then.
Was trying to be like river oaks was the rumor back then.
Nice!

@@aaronlathan I will keep in touch, we’re both over in February to look around neighbourhoods, and get a feel for houses for sale.

There are maps that I have access to as a realtor. There are also fema maps available for Harris County that allow you to search by address.
@@johndemario8173sone realtor apps show risks to specific property.
