Really enjoying the series and I’m jealous of you garage. I’ll be waiting eagerly for the next episode....I’m doing much the same with a 109.

      Hi,
Thanks for your comment. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the series😁
I do love my garage. It’s where I spend most of my time. It definitely keeps me out of trouble🤣
A 109!! Nice!! I was after a 109 originally but this 88 came up at a great price literally right next door to me so I had to buy it. I might look for a 109 once this one is done.
      Good luck with your project!!

Great project! Where did you acquire the knowledge to do such great work?
Have you thought about converting it to electric?

      Hi,
      Thanks for the kind comment👍
🤣 my knowledge came from years of making mistakes…I still make the mistakes and I’m still learning.
I did actually consider going electric with it when I first got it. It might still be something that I might look into in the future but while I can still get petrol easily and because I live in a very rural area and would need a large range to get anywhere. I’ll stick with the old internal combustion engine for a bit longer.
      Thanks for watching🙂

How long did the swivel ball rebuild take? Thinking to do mine but wondering a proper schedule as I work a 9-5 during the week

      Hi,
If you’re just doing the swivels and not bearings then it really won’t take that long. I think I could do just a pair of swivels in an afternoon. However that does depend on lots of things…
The tools you have available. I’ve got a well kitted out garage and still struggle for the right tool sometimes.
The parts you have available. If it’s your only vehicle then you need to be 100% sure you’ve got everything before you start. The swivels kit don’t have everything you need. I can’t remember exactly what was missing from the kits but there was something. Possibly a gasket.
Shims, order more because the kits don’t have enough and they’re cheap.
And be prepared for the unexpected. You could pull the hubs apart and find the UJ’s in the shafts are worn. So waiting on part turning up to fix stuff like that can delay things.
And if the budget can stretch far enough order up new nuts and bolts. Personally I prefer to go with new old stock genuine Land Rover if I can find them.
