I'm in my late 20s and I have acute gout for the rest of my life.
I discovered it in kind of the same way as Jim - the pain hit the joint of my big toe, which I initially thought was from falling down while getting off a train a few days previously. But no, it was from years of having too much meat and booze. The pain was so bad, I was bedridden for a week and couldn't have ANY pressure or movement on my foot. Took some medicine, and now I have to monitor my meat intake and I've cut out alcohol completely.
Gout is no joke, folks. Be careful and stay healthy!

I had the misfortune of getting gout three years in a row (2017-19). It's every bit as painful as Cornette describes, but the medicines Jim mentioned (Prednisone and the other one I can't remember the name of) work pretty effectively and can clear it up fast.
The third time I got the gout, I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to see the doctor, so I toughed it out and hoped it would go away on its own. It didn't. Instead, it got progressively worse over the course of a month until I couldn't even walk anymore. I finally caved and decided I'd rather be in debt from hospital bills than to have money and be in excruciating pain. The doctor gave me prednisone and the pain was gone by the next day.
The moral of this story is, if you have gout, please seek treatment immediately.

Gout runs badly in my Moms family and I’ve seen her youngest brother get it in his toe, knee, hand, elbow, I mean it’s bad. have a few people in the family who get gout. If you have an increase of processed foods (like lunch meat and burgers, and such) in your daily diet for a short while more than usual, it can make a Gout flare up. Lack of rest can impact Gout. Get some cherries, water, anti inflammatory, and stay off the foot while having the Gout and that should help If you don't like cherries, there is a concentrated cherry supplement that you can take. (I know no one asked for my comment, but hey it might help someone out there feel better)

I get it in my knee. I just can't pre enough to flush the uric crystals out. Its painful.
You can get genetic version or the unhealthy version(overweight, booze and red meat).
Its like having razor blades in the joint.
Need to eat low purine foods and cherries & CBD can work wonders

There is no pain like gout pain. Also no affliction is easier to manage yourself. Lay off the salt and red meat and sody pops and alcohols if your body can't handle it. Or just take some ibuprofen..or be a doctor mark and buy the Latin name of ibuprofen from a pharmacy after paying the doctor for the privilege of spending $200 instead of $5.

That sucks you have to avoid a lot of the good foods with that. My dad has it and would have to avoid eating stuff when I was growing up
I think black cherry or cranberry juice helps with it if I recall correctly(the more expensive ones with little to no sugar)
You have to avoid salty food and shellfish Jim

I get gout a lot and I’ve learned to start chugging water and flush out my system, I use Motrin, joint manipulation and heating pads! It sucks! I wouldn’t wish this on anyone except Adam Schiff!

I have gout. Or maybe some other form of arthritis that poses as gout. It sucks. You go to bed always wondering if you're going to wake up the next day in pain and unable to walk normally.
Thankfully, I found a treatment from my local urgent care that works, a corticosteroid called methylprednisone

That's pretty ridiculous since it has nothing to do with age, but rather diet for the most part. I first got it when I was 27.

Jim, talk to your doctor about getting a Rx for colchicine for the acute flare ups and allopurinol to help get the uric acid out of your system for the long term. I got gout in my knee so I know your pain all too well. It was so bad on me that I thought I had ruptured my acl

Sadly you build up a tolerance to Naproxen, the more flare ups you have the slower it works. Plenty of water and high strength vitamin c helps flush it out.

Jim's adventures of trying to eat healthy might be more entertaining than him reviewing modern wrestling!
I'm in pain from laughing at him talking about asparagus and overnight urination. That was a better promo than 98% of the stuff from active wrestlers today! LMAO

Toradol 400-600% stronger than prednisone. Dexamethasone is too but can be harsh on the stomach in 1 dose. Also, plantar fascitis is far worse. No painkillers work. I quit eating pork long ago. I used to be a super heavy drinker.
