      That’s awesome. I always wonder when I record a video if someone is gonna say hey I remember that campsite or that feature on the trail etc. Thanks for watching!

    The Gorge is a jewel, she’s a beast, but I think that’s a good incentive to slow down and enjoy it. Crushing miles there is a waste of time. It’s good if you have a healthy fear of heights there! There is some seriousness about that! In my humble opinion, the slower you take it in, the better. The geology is fascinating.

      I still enjoyed it, but when you have 28 miles to cover in 48 hours with a six hour drive on the front and back end you kinda gotta hurry lol. I agree, the gorge is awesome! I went twice this year, different routes each time. Thanks for tuning in!

      @@Bacon_N_Backpacking I’m doing wildcat hollow next week😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Hopefully it’s better than the experience you had. I’m supposed to stay at bedrock in November for like 8 days.

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I liked Wildcat Hollow minus the blowdowns. That’s the most amount of downed trees I’ve seen on a trail in my life. Having to switch campsites at dark I can’t count against the trail. That was a freak occurrence, but it affected my mood and made me way more negative towards the trail which probably wasn’t fair. I’d like to go back in the fall again.

    • @oakslm22
      @oakslm22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bacon_N_Backpacking what do you mean switch campsites? You would think a trail system in a national forest would be maintained better. I mean I know it’s Wayne but it’s still a national forest.

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I set up camp in stupid high winds like an hour before dark. The tree I anchored to was moving the ground and creaking. I tore everything down and hiked another mile to a new campsite and set up there at dark.

    Nice trip report. Hanson's point looks incredible! I agree it would be primo in the fall. Also, I've definitely noticed my knees more since ditching the trekking poles. Esp on the downhills.

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video. Everyone keeps telling me I should get trekking poles, but I've made it 34 years without them and I might be too stubborn to change lol, thanks for watching!

    • @OutdoorOperator
      @OutdoorOperator 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bacon_N_Backpacking I hear ya. I stopped using them because I prefer having my hands free. Definitely not necessary but they do save the knees.

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’m always carrying my phone and tripod, so I never have both hands free. I thought about maybe getting some sort of clip to attach it to my pack or something but I haven’t decided on anything yet.

    Great video(s) of your RRG trip. I just happened to find them because I'm getting ready to head down for a 3 day solo. I commented in your Part 1 about where to get the parking pass. I've been on some of trails you were on during this trip. Looked like you did Sheltowee, Grays Arch, Rough Trail, Rush Ridge. If you were on Grays Arch trail when you got lost, I got lost at the exact same spot. My buddy wont let me forget about the extra time and effort I put him through!
    I scrolled through your channel and looked at your other trips. Are you an Ohio guy? By the looks of the locations been I would say yes. You actually did one near where I am from on the Twin Valley Trails. Dayton Hikers organization puts on a big challenge on that trail every year. 28 miles in a single day if you do the entire thing. I've done it twice and was sore after each time.
    I'm an AF retiree and as soon as I hear Oscar Mike I knew you were military. Thanks for your service Marine!

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I'm in Ohio. You're correct on the RRG route I took. I saw the 28 miler in Twin Valley. Only thing I didn't like about that trail system is having to register and no campfires. Thanks for your service.

    My grandmother used to make sassafras tea, but I never thought to ask her about its benefits. What do you use it for?

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t use it for any specific purpose. It’s honestly just something to do. It smells good and tastes good and gives me something to drink that isn’t water lol

    Me and Ashley just hiked from the suspension bridge to Hanson's Point th-cam.com/video/iTXyPmuNYDw/w-d-xo.html ..,I love that little spur trail that runs to Hanson's Point, very interest growth on top of that ridge.
