2001/2002 old tool!! Thanks for making me feel ancient 🤣
I've got the Italeri 2008 British kit in the stash and didn't realise it had gone up in value. Must build it as i bought it because my Grandfather served in them in Germany near the end of the War.

Great stuff, yes valuable now due to scarcity but obviously if there is a re release that’ll sort that! Nice history there, get the kit on the go!

Thanks. I had wondered about this: years past had I bought, built, and super-detailed Italeri’s release of this vehicle, including Verlinden's set.
I also had one each of their Amphibious Vehicles, Tracked (LVT), though I had been unable to complete assembly of any of them. I had planned to create beachhead dioramas, one as part of “Operation: Overlord”, another in the South Pacific, upon a rugged atoll that long past somehow had leapt from those turbulent depths . . . .
BTW, if you can remember it, you are yet well short of "ancient"!

The Chieftains video on the Dukw at the auction is still one of my favorites and repeat watches. Always wanted the 1:1 since I was a kid and saw a contractor using one to inspect and repair coastal bridges.

PS. Eduard do provide an instrument sheet in their kit.
Wheel arch covers can’t be used anyway if you use the Resicast and Royal models tyre inflation kits.
U-Models provide new wheel arch covers in their update kit.

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I wanted the placards as well that were on the Archer set, I’m going to use the Eduard set but cover the wheels hopefully rather than get a set for the same price as the kit!

I've built this a couple of times, once with Eduard sets, good, solid kit. AFV Club did announce this but it never happened. Would be nice to see the likes of Tamiya tackle this

What an interesting subject! Only so many Pzr IVs or Shermans you can build. I never figured out why Italeri has/had such a bad rep. Never had anything but good times with their kits and generally great value too.

That’s the plan to bring a few more interesting things to the channel, if all things flow in the right direction that is! 👍

@@ChampionScaleModelling Not that 109s aren't interesting but yeah variety is the spice of life! :D Probably not fo your channel but I keep up the variety by painting historical minis from the likes of Victrix and of course good old Warhammer minis. For me it really helps maintain the mojo. Only so much dunkelgelb and olive drab a man can take!

I built the Italeri 6x6 truck which I initially was apprehensive about due the weird brittle plastic and it’s vintage. But I loved it. Sharp detail for an ancient kit.

I agree. The ancient kits are way better than the comparable Tamiya kits.

I got the Action Man version of this way back in the very early 80s for Xmas. It was big enough to lie on it like a surf board /skateboard while flying down the hill. I'd luv to build a kit version of it to relive my childhood but there'd be no lying on it

Good video!!!! Have always wanted to build one of these DUKW kits and paint it in the colors that you see when riding on one of that at a tourist attraction. Was up in the Wisconsin Dells, WI, area a bunch of years ago and took a ride on one. You get to ride around town and then out onto the Wisconsin River for about an hour - was fun!!! Those DUKWSs were in WHITE/GREEN colors and always thought that it looked neat. After that ride was about when Italeri came out with their DUKW kit. Also, up in the Wisconsin Dells area there was another company that offered rides in DUKWs painted in WWII colors as well, but the Wisconsin Dells DUKWs were better colors. Just might have to re-invigorate that idea of building/painting one of these as a tourist attraction - but getting proper markings would be the toughest part of the build.

I built the Italeri 1:72 version which is really good and discontinued like the "sahariana" for example.
I always wonder why Italeri keeps on bringing back the worst of their 1:72 catalog.
