- It's that time again, every year I make my predictions for what will be coming to Cedar Fair parks in the next year. This year there are a few parks that we have a good idea of what will be coming, others...not so much. There are my best guesses for what we can expect!

Michigan's Adventure, the most neglected park in the Cedar Fair chain
Until Gilroy Gardens came along.

Yeah but Valleyfair and Dorney Park still get SOME rides. They aren't anything really good but at least they're something. But Gilroy Gardens on the other hand, when has Cedar Fair actually announced anything PERIOD for that place.

Back in 2016 people kept telling me “2020 is cedar point’s year, kings island won’t get a giga that year”

Kings Island is my home park, and I couldn’t be more excited for our newest attraction! The footage and quality of this video is stunning!

The GOAT Mario Lemieux it is imo the only good coasters are diamondback, banshee, flight of fear, and mystic timbers other then that everything else is mediocre and bad

Typically, Worlds of Fun gets a copy of whatever Six Flags St. Louis got three years ago. People from St. Louis would drive across Missouri to go to Worlds of Fun if Worlds of Fun had rides that Six Flags St. Louis didn't already have. Cedar Fair is asleep at the controls on Worlds of Fun.
I like that idea! Guess what I stayed in a cabin at Knoebles last weekend and found out it came from Geagua Lake! As a girl who grew up in NE Ohio, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Cedar Point. 🙃

Well the area of the state that the park is in IS the fastest growing area in the state of Michigan (Grand Rapids and surrounding areas) and is becoming the place to be (within the state). Perhaps Cedar Fair is choosing to invest because of this reason?

Valley fair home park. It needs something. Renegade is the best but we need a new roller coaster

same here. It hasn't got a major roller coaster since 2007, which is 12 years ago as of right now. The collection of rides is pretty bad, so maybe a new RMC raptor or B&M Invert?

I keep saying KD should do what Hershey Park did and add a water coaster and a mat slide complex. I would also love some bowl slides
And all they get is a replacement kids area for the waterpark. Most of the cedar fair parks are getting waterpark additions with KI being the ONLY park in the chain to get a coaster.

Cedar Point was planning on bringing back some silly old school juice drinks for the 150th. also a parade. and some upgraded food options. of course, The Rona threw a nice monkey wrench into those plans

mr head as crazy as it may seem, it’s not. Look up rcdb.com and search Michigan’s Adventure. A Zamperla Family Gravity Coaster is coming in 2020 called “Woodstock Express” (it’s not a thrilling coaster like we’ve wanted for the past 10 years, but it’s a coaster :).

Kings island said that the Eiffel Tower HAD the largest drop in the park
Was at my home park, Carowinds on Thursday and the water park is getting a mat racer. Haven’t seen any other announcements for the park yet!

Michigan's Adventure is getting a Camp Snoopy with a new themed area with 6 new rides. They have a video and drawing of the new area on the website. Looks like they are actually putting money into the park, so that's a positive lol.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Volcano’s replacement @ KD will have 7 inversions. That’d be the most inversions on a coaster in Virginia, it’d be a logical next focus after their last two coasters were focused on speed & airtime respectively, and if it ends up being a Gerstlauer Infinity or a Mack Multi-launch as many people are predicting, that’d help to differentiate it from Pantheon next door (which also has multiple launches and a beyond vertical drop).

MA is getting camp Snoopy next year. I really hope that will be the beginning of a trend of new rides for years to come.
carowinds (home park/my current place of employment) is getting Grande Carnavale and im PUMPED!!!!! i loved seeing GC at some of the other parks (like dorney) and now we get to have it next season!!!!
So I just went to canadas wonderland yesterday for the first time ever, and leviathan just pulls you through the elements but I definitely liked the helix and the banked turn around on behemoth. I love amusment parks but I only have 66 coaster credits
A couple of friends of mine went to Carowinds yesterday. The rapids ride is done and the employees they talked to said that there will have only water rides in the water park area.

I'm feeling most happy that Michigan's Adventure is getting something significant. Hopefully, the start of more (as in, a new coaster within the next 5 years).
Hey CS, I’m going to Valleyfair on Friday, so I’ll edit this then to see about it, but I think they might remove thunder canyon, and expand soak city in 2021. Then Cedar Fair could get away with not adding a roller coaster anytime soon to replace Excalibur if they removed that,

michigans adventure, and valleyfair are so underrated. Im not a big fan of michigans adventure, but valleyfair is actually pretty fun, excalibur and renegade are pretty fun!
So pumped for that Kings Island giga!

Good predictions, Taylor. Has Dorney done anything with the Dinos Alive plot (besides removing animatronics) after closing it last year, though? Wondering if the level of prep work for that space and the Invertigo plot is consistent with them getting a GCI in '21.
Would be a miracle if Valleyfair gets a Raptor in their Dinos Alive plot within the next 2 or 3 years, but I'm not holding my breath. But, hey, if Michigan's Adventure is getting a multi-year kiddie ride, splashpad, and landscaping expansion on their antique car ride site, anything's possible, right? :p
I was in line for hurler at carowinds and the ride opps where hinting at rmc. Saying stuff like “ Enjoy it now before it gets treated”.
Man, if they give Carowinds a rmc Hurler treatment for 2020 or 2021, the other Cedar Fair parks will be banging on the gates trying to burn the place down.

I live in Michigan, and I was surprised when you said they were getting something, last time I think they got like a zoo and that was in 2016.

the timing of this video is uncanny. I was planning to get my friends and I up to Ohio next year for those major coaster creds, but now I wonder how crazy Kings Island's gonna be for opening season if that's the case. Great vid Taylor, as expected 👏🏽
It’s usually only crazy the first month or 2 after a new coaster it will definitely be a busier season but honestly it will still probably not be as bad as cedar point on a weekend

Canada's Wonderland is actually getting a mountain dive thing for their water park and a small kids ride for the dry side.

Yeah I wouldnt be surprised if Carowinds pulls a Silver Dollar City and redoes their river rapids ride into something similar to Mystic River Falls that was just announced at SDC.

With carowinds, I think you were a year off. I think 2021 will bring the new raft ride because there’s already a file (is that the right word?) for a ride going from Zamperla’s facility in Italy to Charlotte, North Carolina for next year.

@@hiibob2618 they are getting a camp snoopy which is perfect for the area that it is in because that is where a lot of the kiddie rides are they are also getting a new kiddie coaster. as for future thrill rides I would like to see a GCI replace wolverine wildcat because that ride is rough or a RMC raptor in a new plot since they have only used 40% of the land that they own
Valleyfair is the longest running amusement park in the US to not receive a new rollercoaster. (2007) Michigan's adventure at least got one in 2008, and at least they get attention. Lol the sad thing is nobody cares about valleyfair, and gets no attention. Not the coaster community, nor cedar fair seem to care for the park. It's like valleyfair just got abandoned, but is somehow open every year.
Valleyfair got a coaster in 2011 (A kiddie coaster, but still). Also, Great Escape has had an even longer drought (2005).

Taylor, I was wondering if you heard anymore rumors regarding new coasters at California's Great America? I remember the news of land permits being filed, but then I heard those permits were rescinded by Cedar Fair. I'm not really sure what the latest information is at the moment!
okay so for everyone complaining that MI's Adventure and Worlds of Fun never get anything there is a reason:
Their population pools are fairly tiny an not every single person in the area will visit so attendance is too low for a new coaster or themed land (MI's Adventure's pop. pool is 1.02 million and WoF's is 2.34 million)
It doesn't make sense from a corporate standpoint to invest in these parks, even though i do wish that these parks would get some new attractions.

What sucks about Michigan's adventure them clearing the car ride is that this park has TONS of open undeveloped land. What this tells me is that they will almost certainly just get a kiddie area expansion...
I really think there's a chance that Cedar Fair is going to open a separate theme park at the new Sawmill Creek property they just bought down the road from Cedar Point. This is not confirmed in any way, but I have a feeling that since they've begun to focus more on multi-day full-family experinces, they might try and pull a Disney and turn Cedar Point into a multi-park resort. Again, I don't know how feasible this would be, but it seems like it could happen.

Dorney Park hasn't received a new coaster since 2005 ( Hydra The Revenge ) Steel .

Don't ever wear a yellow shirt in the morning. The gnats will cling to it like crazy. Happened to me when I was a teenager. I rode Steel Vengeance front row at night this year. OMG the first drop is just a fateful of thousands of bugs. Still awesome though.
A few years back, I actually wound up at first aid because I got so many bugs in my eye on maverick at night. 🤢 They had been dealing with it so much all day, they actually had a special station set up just for eye flushing.
Michigan's adventure will be getting an outstanding RMC trash can!!
