@Inferno the point is that this will be a fantastic coaster and the only reason to dislike it is personal preference. Some people like Lamborghinis more than Ferraris (though a lot of people prefer Ferraris.) But even if you prefer one, you'd be an idiot if someone gave you the opposite car brand and you decided to complain. If you wanted an Intamin giga that was taller, longer and faster than any other giga you might complain that this is a B&M that only qualifies as a giga due to its drop. But that would make you like someone who prefers a certain exotic car brand and is still complaining about getting something incredible and still very rare. That's the point.
I feel like it wasn't taller because Cedar Fair wanted to get the biggest bang for their buck. Kings Island recently hasn't seen large attendance growth due to the addition of new rides, so they probably weren't willing to invest more money in a taller ride since regardless of the height, as long as it can be branded as a giga, it will likely attract the same amount of people.
I dont believe that idea, instead I firmly believe that it got stat screwed because of Millennium Force, which I should mention is why I was against this idea from the first time I hard about this. I'm almost positive that CP didnt want King's Island getting a giga that was taller/faster/longer/etc. than their giga and had a hand in even making it not actually 300 feet tall. Meaning that Millennium Force is still the only true giga in the state. This should have been a record-shattering B&M flyer that could have been 200+ feet tall, 4000+ feet of track with 6-7 inverts, not a compleltly pointless addition the park didn't actually need. The Ouio market ismmiss8jg a flying coaster since Firehawk was torn down.
I hate this argument, the reason that there haven’t been attendance increases is solely because of a ride like this. Kings island had a higher attendance and a higher PROFIT margin than Cedar Point prior to the buyout. Since Cedar Fair has owned KI, attendance has swung the other way and this has to be due solely to CP making sure KI does not get record breakers anymore. The last true innovative Coaster KI buikt was SOB. Before that the list of “First” was staggering. I am excited about the coaster and sure it will be fun, but I know this is not going to draw people in as much as a Record breaking coaster would. I have had so many people text me about the diamond back comparison and that is a huge PR mistake on Cedar Fair’s part. They done messed up A-Aron.

With all due respect, the Millenium Force theory is not true at all. A couple things often forgotten about are: 1. Fury was built on a flat area next to the parking lot as opposed to on a hilly terrain in the woods. 2. Fury was built with the help of tax incentives. Hence, Fury is a longer ride but costs the same as Orion.
Theme Park Crazy I think it's all cost. It would have been 40 million dollars if it was a big as Fury plus the terrain at King's Island would add even more.

completely agree with your points Taylor. Someone did mention to me that KI was supposed to get Leviathan and the ride was set to interact with Son of Beast, but since they realized that Son of Beast was unfix able they decided to not go forward with Leviathan. Don't know how true that is but its just what I heard. Im excited to ride in 2020 and very excited to watch the project grow during Construction
Mike Koontz said last night that this is still $30M+ since he said it's going to cost around the amount it cost to build KI in 1972. I think why they didn't go bigger is due to the fact that the cost of steel has gone up in recent years. In fact the cost of steel is higher now than it was when Fury was built.
Yes, this is not a cheap coaster, and this shows just how much CF cares about KI, to give the park a $30+ million coaster, its the biggest investment in park history. If Carowinds was not given the tax breaks to help build Fury, it would have not been 325 ft.
First and foremost, anything and everything roller coaster related, this channel is my first stop. I enjoy your opinions, thoughts, and commentary. Thank you. As for "Why not bigger"? Unfortunately, I believe, you hit the nail on the head with your first assessment. I believe it's a huge mistake.
Coming to Kings Dominion in 2021... Polaris, a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster with an amazingly similar theme in Volcano’s former location right next to Flight of Fear!
Very cool analysis. I loved the Millennium at night before I moved to Florida. I grew up on the Beast as the ultimate favorite. Kings Island deserved to have a taller and faster ride than Millennium. Although Cedar Pointe when I lived in Ohio was my most favorite park ever. Now I'm with SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. We need to vouch for a giga as well.
I do have to say, that turn that lines you up with the brake, it gives some actual EJECTOR in the back, it's awesome! This ride is better than Leviathan, but not as good as Fury
Personally, I think Orion (although I prefer the other name Polaris) is a great addition to KI. This will be a great hit for the general public. While yes, I wasn't enthusiastic about it at first, but as I saw the animation, I was pretty impressed by it, even though Orion's gonna be shorter than her sisters. What I see here is that B&M took most of the best elements of all of their coasters and combined it into this ride. While it looks to be similar to Diamondback (since most are comparing it to it)...it will NEVER be Diamondback. Anyways, I can't wait for this thing to go up. P.S. I think KI should ring up IMA Score to make an out-of-this-world theme music for the ride (the same people who wrote the theme for Mystic Timbers).
Cedar Point is my home park and honestly we dont deserve this much, I absolutely love it but it feels like we often take away from other parks and that shouldnt be how it is.
Enthusiasts: ok we want big tall shiny b&m at kings island even tho there is already big tall shiny b&m coaster there Kings Island: ok we gonna do it lol Enthusiasts: wait you build big tall shiny coaster too similar to OTHER BIG TALL SHINY COASTER!!?? kings island: am I a joke to you?
@@deathrooster14 True, but if you go by the technical details there's no functional difference between a B&M Hyper and a B&M Giga. It's all in the height and layout, the track cross section, trains, lift chain and brake systems are all the same. But the height and layout are what matters most in regards to ride experience. (layout much more so than height, to be fair)
Will this ride make diamondback obsolete? What does diamondback have that Orion won't have? At least magnum has some intense hills at the end to differentiate it from MF.
This ride will definitely give Kings Island a strong top 3 (Diamondback, Banshee and Orion). The only giga I’ve been on is Millennium Force. I’m so glad Kings Island is one of my “hometown” parks... I can’t wait to get on this ride. Nice analysis Taylor!
At 11:07, it states that Orion will be one of the seven Gigas coasters in the world. If you are an enthusiast, comment if you think they are talking about Red Force as the 6th
They are counting Red Force as a giga. It is between 300 & 400 ft, and it is a full circuit, so technically, it is a giga, even if it doesn't ride like the others.

@@DoswarePictures ya it's my mistake I was doing my math HW at the same time lol so added a 0 on accident. Even tho a 2087 feet tall coaster would be epic.

I went to Kings Island for the first time today and there was Orion merch everywhere. I’m from Cleveland so Cedar Point is my home park, but I was down in the Cincinnati area and convinced my dad to take me. Diamondback was closed all day though so I was a bit disappointed by that.
Leviathan is like 3/4 complete just a bit more twists and ejector hills and maybe a bit better pacing and boom! Leviathan would be an even better coaster with just a few mod elements.
I’m looking forward to it. Looking at this layout, it will definitely be more fun in the back than the front. You’ll get more airtime and more pull and I want my first ride on it next summer to be in the back row
@@CoasterStudios I do see your point. However, I think people tend to get their expectations up so high that nothing short of the most incredible coaster in the world will do. And I understand that.
That doesn't bode well for any potential record breaking steel coaster at CP
KD is just a KI copy cat
Actually it’s KI’s sister park.
Love this channel
I do have to say, that turn that lines you up with the brake, it gives some actual EJECTOR in the back, it's awesome! This ride is better than Leviathan, but not as good as Fury
Agreed
@@SportSync29 Rode it more since then, its better than Fury
@@coastaku1954 I rode Orion today and I also still agree fury is better
@@SportSync29 Fury is overrated, rough, and kinda bland after the Treble Clef
@@coastaku1954 Yeah it does kinda get a little boring but it is not rough after that treble clef. That airtime on the last few hills HIT
Kings island: orion will be the tallest and fastest coaster at kings island
Diamondback: am I a joke to you?
Well it will be but I like the joke well as in now diamond back is the tallest and fastest
dude i love your analysis videos!
This will make a great 200th coaster; i'm going to Kings Island next year
I'm planning to make it my 77th, and Steel Vengeance my 100th
Felice Graziano What about the other 23?
@@robkatzberg38 now that Vortex is getting scrapped there's a question mark over my plan lol
All B&M’s are too similar
Today is the first day that I am able to see Orion from the road.... very exciting to see the next steps take form
I would not care if millennium force is smaller than Orion and my homepark is Cedar Point
Cedar Point is my home park and honestly we dont deserve this much, I absolutely love it but it feels like we often take away from other parks and that shouldnt be how it is.
Lucky. My home park is Dorney Park. One of the neglected Cedar Fair parks.
Agree, can't wait.
Notice Vortex in the background... r.i.p
Kings Island announced the addition of Orion before the removal of Vortex, so that’s why Vortex is seen in the animation.
You see it has the same lap bars as diamond back. Theres gonna be some great air time on this. Can t wait.
Enthusiasts: ok we want big tall shiny b&m at kings island even tho there is already big tall shiny b&m coaster there
Kings Island: ok we gonna do it lol
Enthusiasts: wait you build big tall shiny coaster too similar to OTHER BIG TALL SHINY COASTER!!??
kings island: am I a joke to you?
Cringe
@John Lorton Pretty much lol
@C Rizzy Fury is a giga, and in fact the tallest one hahaha.
@C Rizzy Diamondback broke down the day I rode it.
@@deathrooster14
True, but if you go by the technical details there's no functional difference between a B&M Hyper and a B&M Giga.
Where can I get my budget giga shirt?
goodwill
This ride will definitely give Kings Island a strong top 3 (Diamondback, Banshee and Orion).
The only giga I’ve been on is Millennium Force. I’m so glad Kings Island is one of my “hometown” parks... I can’t wait to get on this ride. Nice analysis Taylor!
IMO it will be better than Leviathan and Millenium but not as good as Fury or I305
Yeah
Wait til u ride it
Well it’ll definitely be better than steel dragon 2000 lol
Maybe
At 11:07, it states that Orion will be one of the seven Gigas coasters in the world. If you are an enthusiast, comment if you think they are talking about Red Force as the 6th
They are counting Red Force as a giga. It is between 300 & 400 ft, and it is a full circuit, so technically, it is a giga, even if it doesn't ride like the others.
I guess so
I’ve also heard that they didn’t want to dwarf the Eiffel Tower
When are you posting your sf predictions
its literally leviathan with pacing issues
This looks like something I’d love, it checks all the boxes: floaty, graceful, B&M 😍
I'll be honest, Dimondback is probably going to end up being the better of the two
When vortex is at 0:57 but you know it’ll be gone by the time Orion is open 😭
I wish there was a giga at magic mountain
@The Reverend Jim Jones And Fuji-Q Highland has Eejeneeka, which is a larger version of X2.
i think this coaster looks awesome . I cant wait to ride it ,
I clicked soooooooooooo fast you wouldn’t even believe
This is the video I was looking for!
in my opinion its the Giga version of shambhala. very tall not low to the ground and is a long ride.
@@DoswarePictures yes definitely, i see what you mean!
had some people allready call it 300 feet tall, i told them its only 287 fett and they still dont understand i even told them since its on a hill. so far i think im gonna love this ride, cant wait!! Sorry lol had to edit. I did admit I made the mistake of adding a 0 into it lol
@@DoswarePictures ya it's my mistake I was doing my math HW at the same time lol so added a 0 on accident. Even tho a 2087 feet tall coaster would be epic.
Mini Millennium Force of southern Ohio. NOT a putdown. I will be on it.
clevelandcbi lol the drops are both the 300 feet
You're both right😁😁😁
@@evanyoung6993 Hence the "Mini" part. Same drop-length but slightly shorter, slower, etc. Still looks fun as hell. And it's 2 hours away for me instead of 5.
If it's not a putdown, why write it?
Taylor, you nailed it as usual...
If only Millennium Force wasn't so insecure!
Bobby Lindsey talk about it!!
Coaster Studios is the best!!!
I enjoyed this particular analysis a lot, especially after hearing a bunch of negative comments before it. You had some pretty interesting thoughts, and were completely fair with the coaster, mainly trying to see the good in it. 👍
I went to Kings Island for the first time today and there was Orion merch everywhere. I’m from Cleveland so Cedar Point is my home park, but I was down in the Cincinnati area and convinced my dad to take me. Diamondback was closed all day though so I was a bit disappointed by that.
daddy will take you next year.
I think they should of made it longer
Best channel ever
Orion is the better name. In Ohio, Polaris is already either the shopping center in Columbus or the defunct amphitheater.
Andrew Mojzer I was about to say that too
In the off season would you consider doing something like revised park/ride reviews or review older rides you haven’t covered?
I try to review as many rides as I can, but do not have any plans at the moment to redo old reviews
anyone notice how red and blue racer are switched
Could be a simple animation error.
Micah Clark thats what I was thinking because there's no reason to change the sides
6:43 this video aged well because of that message you had at the beginning about opinions 😂 it makes this part a lot funnier
It honestly looks so short that it should be Leviathan's second half. (Otherwise it is a fabulous coaster!)
Cedar fair cheeped out this year...😂
Cheep Cheep!!
$30M+ on a giga is not cheaping out. They are also investing heavily in water park stuff.
Is it steel Orion? Get it steel or iron?
i can't wait to raid area 72
Let’s get them coasters
I bet they're hiding the missing 22 feet from Orion's lift hill there.
@@VestedUTuber Lol that is hilarious
I can't believe people are complaining. You wanted a giga. You got one. Now shut up and have fun riding it! Most parks can only dream of getting one.
I don’t think anyone is complaining about giga. I just think some surprised it’s not more than what it is.
@@CoasterStudios I do see your point. However, I think people tend to get their expectations up so high that nothing short of the most incredible coaster in the world will do. And I understand that. It's exciting to wonder what the next great coaster will be and what previous records it will break. We all want a thrill we've never had before. So I understand being a little disappointed when what's announced doesn't live up to what you really dreamed of getting. But in some comment sections on other videos, I've seen many people that are genuinely pissed off and having a near temper tantrum, which I think is a little ridiculous honestly. Thanks for your opinion on the matter, though. Love your channel.
Nobody cares Taylor,
ya hear about Michigan’s adventure tho?!🔥💯😈🔥💯
Wait seriously
I think this is a fantastic fit for the park. People really should be glad that Kings Island is getting a giga coaster at all.
Orion is actually longer than i305
Very true!
Longer than Shambhala too, and that ride doesn't feel short at all
And Red Force too!
@@visionist7 it'll feel shorter than Shambhala because you'll be going 91 mph. So you'll be flying through the layout.
Blueprints showed that lighting DMX lighting will be there along the first and second hill, probably why they selected white supports, so the color is visibly there
Brandon Winkle That will be awesome!!!! It will look great from the Eiffel Tower! Do you know what page it was on?
You should parody this coaster. Make cedar point fanboy say Millie is better
@@@DoswarePictures That would awesome!
@@DoswarePictures and Vekoma getting mad at Taylor for saying this is waaay better than Firehawk
@@DoswarePictures Lmao!
Storm area 72 they can’t stop us all
I think it's a great addition to the park. Hopefully that layout will include close calls in the woods... tunnels would have been cool as well...
Only if your a true coaster fan like
bacon dog lol, if “your” a true coaster fan, don’t beg for likes
I’m not lol
I'm actually neutral on everything you pointed out. Yes, you may indeed be right on everything you said, but quite frankly I'm just super happy that King's Island is finally getting a Giga coaster. It's my home park so I'm thrilled to death over it. So anxious to ride it!
