When it was still a look out tower my nana used to clean there and at pit top back in the 1930's the old guy who used to live in it traveled on horse back down to Eston to get his supplies.
Have just found your videos and have enjoyed watching them - they're a real blast from the past. Just one comment about fishing for goldfish when I was a lad: unfortunately it was foul hooked and I carried it home, put it in the bath and got the bus to Redcar to buy a disgorger to unhook it and return it to the pond. By the time I got back to Lazenby it had jumped out of the bath and died. Wrong decision on my part and upsetting at the time.
