Tortoises are supposed to live outdoors in natural environment and not indoors.
This video explains how much important sunlight is for a tortoise and how it is very effective to recover a tortoise from illness and save its life.

Disclaimer : Indian star tortoises are illegal to buy, sell or keep as pets in India.
Despite being scheduled species they have been sold and kept as pets.
This video is not supporting to keep them in captivity but such things are not under my control.
So, trying to educate people keeping them in captivity illegally to understand what environmental and dietary needs these tortoises need.

I’m not a breeder and do not support illegal captive breeding so won’t share anything about it.

Sunlight is definitely key 🔑
Another thing to note though, is the UV index!
You can give all the sun you want to, but if the UV index is low (hence you live in a cold place), then they will not benefit from the exposure.
So, not just sunlight, but quality sunlight is extremely important.

After that i took n online appiontment of n delhi doctor... He suggested vitamin n calcium syrup n dip tortise in carrot juice for swallon eyes... Now his eyes r little better n will be fine soon... But worried about his legs... Plz if u can help with antibiotic name...

Numbers keep changing, none of the tortoises are “mine”. All of them are either given away by their owner or rescued due to illness in captivity. Once rehabilitated, those who have strong immunity and shifted to all naturally growing diet are released in wild.
My toirtoise is having difficulty in moving and walks very very less as compared to earlier also not eating as much as it used to eat. I think his front arms are bit folded due to keeping him in a wooden structure what to do now???

You should definitely take it to vet to get examined thoroughly. If no problem internally then you should do necessary husbandry changes to reverse the deformity.

I also went to Vet to show his legs only... But he said he is very weak with lack of calcium n vitamin... N hence gave him 2 glucose injection on legs n 1 calcium injection on neck... N from that day he stopped eating.. Moving.. Swallon eyes etc.. N i am also not very satisfied with his check up.

I don’t know any names and doses and you should also not self medicate. Better to take a sick animal to a good vet rather than putting its life at risk by doing it yourself.

Please understand you cannot give random antibiotics to a tortoise, the vet who given glucose and calcium injections was probably not right. Please search for a better vet who knows things about reptiles. Please let me know from which city you are, shall help with vet is possible.

Don’t know the medicine name. If it’s urgent then you should rush to a veterinary doctor, DO NOT SELF MEDICATE.

Yes, artificial lights can be used to fulfill UV spectrum requirements.
In my house there is no sunlight so what is the another method to give heat to tortoise?
Artificial lights will give warmth but you cannot replace sunlight anyhow.
Better if you think about well-being of the tortoise and give it to local wildlife department.
It’ll be away from you but the tortoise will have a chance to live normal, natural life again.
In absence of such basic needs, it’ll live deformed life and may end up dying a slow painful death in captivity.
Think for that life, not just a pet.

Can be due to lack of sunlight/ UVB or lack of calcium or improper calculations ratios. Better to get examined by vet.

Try giving food in sunlight during sunrise and sunset but if your tortoise run away from that too then do not forcefully bask him.

It can be metabolic bone disease and if it is severe then it is life threatening.
Consult a reptile vet without any delay.

Should be active, moving around normally, eating well.
Eyes and nostrils should be clean and clear. No bubbles, mucus, whistling or quacking sounds.
