My great-grandfather, James T. Owens, traveled by covered wagon from Alabama to Safford. He helped build the town and eventually became its mayor. His son, Beauregard, is my grandfather.
Great video. My older cousin always took me to movies there. My grandparents used to live off Welker Ln. The dirt road to her house was all pecan trees. I used go with her on her evening walks down what is now Kempton. Her house was in the middle of cotton and corn fields. I spent every summer there. Best years of my life. Learned to drive tractors get dirty and get into trouble. lots of family there still. I'm Gonna have to make a trip.
Thanks for the video! Have a friend who may be relocating to Safford and this was a good vid to see the town! So there's TWO coffee shops?! Wow, for that size of a town thats great!
Me too. This was on a Sunday so a lot of businesses were closed but that's what Safford looks like on a Sunday. 😄 Thanks for watching and commenting too.
Cool spot and great information! Love the whole story from the drive to the walk. What is a photo emporium? I know you wanted to explore that abandoned theater! Great share
I was just having this conversation with someone the other day. What makes something an emporium? I guess if someone calls their place an emporium it's an emporium. 😄 🤣 Thanks for visiting.
Nice! I use to live in Pima and spent a lot of time in the Music store in Safford! I love that area. I actually learned to drive a tractor and work on cotton field irrigation there.
Sounds like you had a pretty cool experience there. I spent most of my time near Clifton on this trip so I'm planning to go back to Safford at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting too.
The only way I knew of Safford before this video was back in 1998 [while I was living in Giddings, Tx population 5,055] a guy leased his truck to our trucking company and he was from here. Cool video! Here’s a bit about Phil Harris👇Stay safe! ~Jim~ Philip Harris was an American musician, actor and comedian. I try to find things that haven't been covered repeatedly. Unfortunately, it seems like people want to watch the same places over and over and over again. Thanks for watching and commenting.
In this small town it's ranching and mining. The mine is around an hour away in Morenci but the town of Morenci is owned by the mine and they are short on housing. People commute from small towns nearby like Safford. Thanks for watching and commenting too.
I'm sorry. I don't understand your comment. If you're saying they finished the theatre renovation that's awesome. I'll have to get back there some day and check it out. Thanks for watching. 🚚🤠👍

I hope to get back there and make another video eventually. You have a terrific story and a great connection to that town.
I was born in Safford, I still remember those giant murals in the post office.
I'll have to check out those murals next time I pass through there.
Loved there for a little while and was a real blessing to see it again 💓
I love the small town feel.

The greatest asset to Safford I think is that it's right next to Mt. Graham.
i actually live here it's such amazing town
I'll have to call you for a tour next time. 😊 Thanks for being here.
Great video. Enjoyed it very much!❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Love little towns and those old historic buildings.

I hate that my view of the town was limited to fci safford, when my probation is terminated I’d love to visit the mountain with the lake

@@babyfoxrylee9417 Very cool! James who was in the video also lives there.
This old Theater is like a movie scene in a US Production film !!!
I wish it were open but this is the way someone visiting Safford would see it. Thanks for watching and commenting too.
I owned the Branding Iron Restaurant there years ago. My son was born there.
I just looked up the Branding Iron Steakhouse in Safford and saw that it is still there. When did you own it?
Side scenes are beautiful during the drive.Renovated theater looks beautiful.

I like that town a lot. My friend works at the mine and lives in Clifton.
Great to see this all, well done! 👍🏼💯
Thanks for being here.
Discover undiscovered. You always get those places :D

@@Fit4Expedition yeah, most of the people are like that, not opened for new 🤔
No cars on the street. What time of day was this taken?
There aren't many people around. I shot this a long time ago, but as I recall, it was mid-day between noon and 3 pm.
Looks like one of those towns in the middle of no where lol
I always wondered what people did for a living in those small towns...

Great road trip Greg! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Yuri. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip.
They fixed that one stop now

So...respectfully...music is...........
I'll have to watch that one again to see. It's been almost a year since I put that on the channel.
