Stefan Dohr Masterclass - Horn - Mozart: Concerto K 495 - Allegro moderato

Masterclass by Professor Stefan Dohr in which they work the first movement of Mozart's Concerto for horn and orchestra K 495, in a version for horn and piano. This masterclass took place at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, Madrid 2011.

Abstract:
Professor Dohr encourages the student to adopt a more active attitude while playing, as well as to develop the musical discourse taking into account all the aspects, such as phrasing, dynamics, sound quality, expression and high points within the phrase. Every performance has to be played with a previous and well-thought-out plan.

There's really no better teaching for a musician than to have their ass handed to them in a master class. It will be extremely challenging in the moment but the benefits will last a life time. Stefan obviously thinks the student has talent and potential, otherwise he wouldn't push him so hard. Bravo to both of you

I honestly thought the student performed much better after Dohr’s feedback, but he never acknowledged that. I find that really odd...but I think that makes him on an entirely different musical level than 99.99% of the horn players in the world.
