Stefan Dohr, principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic, needs no introduction. He is know as the GOAT of the horn and here in his very first Horn Hangout live from Berlin he talks to Sarah Willis about his upcoming premiere of Hans Abrahamsen´s horn concerto and how he prepares for such world premieres. He shares some invaluable practice tips and Sarah surprises him at the end with a very special guest....

27:00 Composer here - if you're looking for new music that's accessible to students, there are lots of us out there who would love to add to the repitoire!

Archive viewing now April 2024! So wondering (from Taupō New Zealand) as this was recorded just before the first global COVID lockdowns how it affected the concert touring of this new horn work...?

I am here from Neenah --- I am very fond of Erdinger beer from Erding--- Have done a tour of the Brewery twice... I wish I knew how to make Goat sounds but my hose horn does not get the right pitches that sound like a goat... Love the Hangout with Stefan... What is the oldest age horn person in Berlin.. I am having problems at age 80 , but your hangouts help!!!

Greetings from Ontario, Canada! Wonderful conversation. Wondering if down the road, for us horn geek avid learners, a video could be presented on high register workouts, and on low register work outs. What kid of exercises do the world's best do on a daily basis? (e.g. 21 minute mark for example) Viele danke, Sarah und Stefan.

This is no doubt one of my favorite horn hangouts of all time. Perhaps my favorite.

Hi, could the Berliner Phil add more modern movie soundtracks such as Frozen and Jurassic park to the repertoire?
