I really wish they would have added subtitles to that bit so more people understand that this man was the Unit leader who saved and took a bullet for the man who wiped his tears in the end. It would have been so much more powerful for people who just don’t see the obvious.

Stacey, please don’t be sorry for sharing your emotions. Too many would rather walk by, ignore, or pretend everything is okay. Being willing to share this and be vulnerable with an emotion that so many of us share is welcomed, loved, and appreciated. Our government is failing the veterans, and the public in general is as well. It’s gutting and heartbreaking. Thank you. ❤

@TheDirge69 I don't agree. When our government spends over a trillion dollars per year on defense, they have the ability to wipe out this problem. But many of our politicians would rather play political games and they don't care who gets hurt in the process. Just look at how long it took for the burn pit victims just to get medical treatment. And even when it finally passed, some of the politicians had to be shamed into passing the bill.

Military brats give up a lot for their parents to serve too. Getting moved from station to station and having to start over with new friends and schools isn't fun growing up either. It affects the whole family not just the spouse. Throw in some PTSD and it can be a rough childhood

This song never fails to hit home and the music does a fantastic job of grabbing your heart. Ivan Moody is an excellent and powerful singer indeed. I love the way he can quite literally sing a roar that expresses pain, anger and anguish. What I always take from this song is the reality that our soldiers are citizens who feel a calling to serve their country only for our greedy politicians to misuse that calling to duty. Our soldiers believe they are meant to protect their home country, but are sent into unjust conflicts. They are shoved through wars that we don't belong in or should have started, fighting and dying for causes We The People did not vote for. They come home broken in body and spirit or in a box, having lost brothers and seen carnage and inflicted death and pain upon others and in the end they don't feel like heros because there was never a truly justified cause to believe in to begin with. They come home asking themselves "what the hell did we go do all that for?" and the only answer they can find is that our politicians told them to. My dad is a 75yo Vietnam War veteran and he still talks and fights in his sleep, sometimes to the point that I wake him so he can start over in his rest. Our soldiers' duty and sacrifices are abused and misused for the greed of career politicians who have lost touch with the people and the righteousness of their office duties. A bit of a rant here I know, but this song always reminds me that our soldiers come back feeling like they were "on the wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell" because we have been going to wars without a passion for a justified cause. Men do terrible things in war and if they cannot feel that they had a cause to believe in to attach the violence to and justify it then it will destroy them internally. A man's conscience is a powerful thing. It will lead him to do amazing things or tear him apart for doing terrible things.

@@JacobMoore-tk7wt Thank you for your service, brother. My medical history was well documented while in service. I was also told that I was too broken to re-up but not broken enough to kick out on a medical discharge. I could not even go in to the reserves. There was an incident in boot camp that fractured my ankles. I was dropped from training and put in to MRP for a month and then PCP. So, I got to spend an extra month and a half in boot camp. I was also sent in to the gas chamber 6 times in one day and the last two times without my gas mask. That tore up my sinus which I had to have surgery on a couple of years later but while I was still in service. There was another incident where I fell about 15 feet flat on my back and which I had to be extracted. Now I have my spine fused in two places. There are a couple of other things that I have but this is long enough. The uniform just didn't suit me anymore and I would have been a liability had I portrayed to be fully functional. I'm remain ashamed even to this day.
Worked on and off for a couple of years whilst attempting to come to terms with everything, applying the happy face all the while I was struggling within. Recently got my pension, which basically secures me for life. I'll never be rich, but at least I'm alive at 46. When you've seen so much misery, so much death, all happiness requires is to allow your feet the freedom to carry you through morning-dewed grass. Sip coffee and watch kids go to school.

I appreciate your emotional reflection on the song and the information presented from the video. As a Veteran who served in combat I ask that you reflect on this as well: Every military member; active, retired, disabled, etc. has a different experience and are affected differently. That goes for anyone that takes part in any organization. we all have our own stories. Some have stronger bonds than others. The stronger bonds I had were lost in combat. Therefore, I tend to be a little bitter about what I did and the way Society treats us, I often prefer not to mention my service because there's a severe lack of understanding and genuine appreciation. At the same time it's not the average Americans fault as they have not seen what I've seen, nor had to do what I did, and to be humble many more service members did so much more than myself, my contributions were very little, even in the short time I was overseas. I am grateful for the small pension I receive for my disability as I know so many more fellow veterans unjustly receive far less help than what I have been given. As it goes for so many of us, My wife will never know what I went through, nor will my children. It is difficult to talk about not so much for myself but more for the sake of not wanting them to know the pain and loss. I prefer them to see me as a loving father and husband that is here for them every day rather than a survivor that is lucky to be alive. There is more to me than the 8 years I served. That was only a part of my life, I want you to know the rest of it. I wish everyone the best. Thank you.

Speaking as a disabled veteran, a Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman (think medic, better trained) I'm 58 now. You have no reason whatsoever to apologize for tears. I shed them every time. The only thing I'll ask you to remember, this video is more than 10 years out old. The numbers shown have not improved. Your reaction to this video is spot on. The last line spoken by the characters "YOU KNOW ME! YOU SAVED MY LIFE BROTHER!" Hits me hard every single time. The bond you spoke of is very real. My best friend we met at our first duty station. I lost more friends than I would have liked but they will never be forgotten as they are part of a brotherhood that never dies. I still work in the Security Industry and will always be a part of Support our Paras and Help the Hero's charities James Blunt song No bravery is a video that I feel brings you closer because you see what actually happens.
"House's burnt beyond repair, the smell of death is in the air, a woman weeping in despair say's he has been here, tracer lighting up the sky, it's another family's turn to die, a child afraid to even cry out say's he has been there"

@GrahamDay-ec9de As someone from the UK (England to be more precise), I thank you for your service, for defending my homeland, and for keeping us all safe. Sadly, it is a thankless job. It makes my blood boil when our so-called government gives all these illegal migrants, who are invading our southern border, money and 5-star hotels. The worst part? They are all military-aged men. Where are the women and the children? If they are fleeing war-torn countries, where are the women and children? It makes me sick how our own government treat our current servers and veterans, and they wonder why no one wants to join and why everyone is leaving the armed forces. Not to mention the current state of our military.

Five Finger Death Punch is an amazing band that has even gone over to the bases in the Middle East to be a part of the USO tours. They're all true patriots through and through. If you want to see what the band looks like on stage, you ought to scope out "Wash It All Away". If you want to see another soul-crushing song about veterans, look no further than "Gone Away". If you want to see the depiction of Ivan Moody's (lead singer) near death experience (he was dead for a three minutes) you can scope out "The Tragic Truth". If you just want to see what one of their videos looks like that isn't too heavy, "Darkness Settles In" is a good one. Personally, my favorite song of theirs, as a Veteran, is "Got Your Six".

You do not have to apologize for crying at all. Not being afraid to show true emotion when something effects you takes alot of courage, so big thumbs up for that. I believe this problem is not just in the u.s.a. I think it is the result of people not being re-introduced to normal civilian society, as well as not having anywhere to turn for help except those whove been there in the conflicts thus can relate. I guess those of us who were soldiers as kids have it a bit easier because of the fact we got desensitized to it and also were forced to live with it there after in life. I was 9 when the serbs crossed into Croatia and thus fought against them since my family lived along the broder region of Kutjevo. I was too skinny, and weak to handle the kick back of the fire arms so they had me planting mines or feeding the bullets. That was the first time i experienced people dying around me who I knew, and friends who were my age also. Life went on as time does not ever stop, My mother married a scotsman after that, and thus i was introduced to a whole new world of secterian division in the city of Glasgow, and since he had family in Belfast as well as in Armagh I got see as well as participate in that also ( lobbing petrol bombs over the peace line during the nights while marchin season was on, as well as the violence in and around the old firm darbys every year in glasgow) More people I knew and some friends there died due to that, same old story. At 17 I wanted out and i went and joined the Legion E'trangere in paris france (at fort de nogent) I was selected by the 13 DBLE demi-brigade and based in Djibouti for 4 years and done the whole "safari" as some would call it. After i got out of that i went to north america, canada first, and then the usa. In 2009 christmas i was in New York city living out the shelter system. I will never forget Madison Square Gardens has a Christmas dinner for the homless and the poor for free, and it was jam packed. I was seated with a few veterans, some from desert storm and others from the iraq war, and one fresh out of afghanistan. It was one of the best conversations Ive ever had and have never forgot it. Sadly they were all on the verge of homelessness and the VA was proving a real tough nut to crack for them, and they wern't getting much help either from any of the other places they tried. I kept in contact with one of them over the years who told me if anything good was happening, but sadly two of them suicided themselves. Sometimes it becomes quite the burden, not matter if in the u.s. or abroad, sadly there is not much kindness, or civility left in this world today, hopefully that changes some day. Thank you for learning about this, as well as for bringing awareness to others too from your channel, and I also appreciate that you enjoy learning the history about happenings and events youve never heard of before, like white friday.

As a veteran who's getting up there in years, I've seen and been through quite a bit. From the grateful homecoming of World War 2 veterans to the utter disrespect of those coming home from Vietnam. Veterans, both combat and non-combat, have experienced feeling left behind by this country. I served with Marines, who when they came home were spit on and called baby killers. When they landed, they were told to change out of their uniforms to avoid being targeted. The VA Healthcare system tries to take care of us but can be overwhelmed. It's been about 12 years since I first started using it. There's been times getting appointments here been hit or miss. I travel between an hour to an hour and a half one way to see a doctor.
