Before that piece of horrible writing was introduced, I had assumed his semblance was combustion. Drinking as much alcohol as people claim Qrow drinks should put him out of commission unless it's going somewhere other than his liver. It's not like he could swing that buster sword like a rapier without some kind of booster and his semblance being the ability to process flammable liquids like fuel made (and still makes, in my opinion) a lot more sense than what is clearly the self-pity of someone who hasn't gotten treatment for PTSD and lingering childhood/family issues.

Yang has an excuse: her muscles using absorbed kinetic energy. In point of fact, even Pyrrha had an excuse before she got fragged: using her semblance to control the ferromagnetic accessories she wore, giving herself the appearance of running faster and farther and fighting with greater strength and grace than her peers. My point is that Qrow's semblance being what I suggest rather that what the writers claim would provide a reasonable, in-universe explanation for both his movement in and out of combat as well as his drinking habit (which leaves him curiously coherent for a drunkard) without taking anything away from the character.

Qrow's semblance makes him an unwitting inconvenience to those around him. He has to wonder whether any bad things that happen are just a coincidence or his fault, so he stays away when he can. Considering his profession, not only would he be more alert than the average person even while inebriated, it's possible to build up a tolerance to alcohol.
This sneak peek was so awesome! Ruby's smile is so freaking adorable!!!! I really wander where Blake is though. She probably is just saying goodbye to Sun and The White Fang, but that's just me. :)

It’s hilarious when you think about it. The trailer was basically hyping up that moment, like there was this intense, high pressure situation that was looking to end badly if the group wasn’t up to task. And then we get this sneak peek and see that Ruby’s just being her usual adorkable self.

For anyone who finds this video and suddenly remembers the whole Ruby buying a gift thing. The answer is friendship bracelets. It was supposed to be used against the Apathy at the farm. They cut it because they ran out of time. The commentary from Kerry hinted that they might have brought it back at a later date. But the plot moved too far along for it to make sense. So now it's just something they dropped.
