Kamare Edwards Her songs are not about how great she is. They are about how she got out of her sadness and became stronger. They are showing that she does not cry about the little things and fights for the things she wants. The songs are about her confidence and does not stay crying like the other characters songs. It shows that she can get through the bad times and fight.

Am I the only one who loves how they all use the gun mode as a means of propulsion? Like how Yang used it to give herself that extra burst. Or how Ruby use it with crescent rose to give that extra bit of force for cutting tough objects. I love some of the unique uses of their gun mode
Then there's Blake who shoots her gun to hook into a surface and swings around with her whip. Nora can also propel herself from the pink explosion that her hammer emits. Emerald can swing her kusarigama around too, and Mercury uses his leg gauntlets for propulsion the same way Yang uses her arm gauntlets

I'm glad the animators and choreographers are improving with the inclusion of applying momentum back into the fight scenes. That was one thing Monty abused the hell out of and it looks like they're finally following suit and what the previous seasons without Monty was lacking a LOT of.
RIP Monty, your baby's getting better with every passing year. Hope it stays true to your vision.
I'm really hoping that in the rest of series 5 they bring back the amazing fight choreography that made series 1-3 so great. 4 was still a great series, but the fight scenes felt a bit too much like generic hack n slash fighting game rather than the super creative battles in prior series. I'm a bit concerned about how many split plot lines they've created though..

I think they mean it in different ways with winter it is physically from danger but with yang it is emotional as yang and they are both a foil to each other as winter needs to be there for Weiss emotionally not being the rigid solider but her sister and yang would be physically needing to be there as she let ruby leave after the fall of beacon and Blake leaving so she needs to be there as of volume 5 when they made this and winter had this growth in volume 8 when she abandoned everything she worked for to support Weiss and the rest of the team which is pretty good writing so not bat crwby not bad

Liking how the end of this fight is similar to her encounter with Adam, but with a different ending. Yang rushing to protect someone she cares about and getting hit hard. Though in this case, her semblance did the job and got her out of this bad situation in one piece.

Jesus Christ people. WE ALL KNOW. Monty(R.I.P.) was an amazing animator and will never be forgotten. That doesn't excuse the fact that you are criticizing the hard working teams that struggle so terribly with the unbearable "fans" who do nothing but complain about how the choreography and animation isn't as good as it was with him. I'll admit, Monty was great. He was amazing, skilled and hardworking and he was well loved by all of us. That doesn't make him the god of animation like you think he is. You guys put him up on a pedestal that almost mirrors Pyrrha's. No animator on the team feels like they're good enough to work on Monty's show because the fans are so critical of everything they do! Sure, you can criticize the short because there was no real background or plot involved. I get it. But if you decide to insult the work and struggle put into the piece of art we have, fortunately for free, right in front of us I don't understand why. I'm pretty sure Monty wanted us to love his WORK, not the quality of the choreography or animation. The whole idea of, RWBY. Sure, respect him. Love him and praise him, but don't criticize his hard working team that try their best to put on a platter his great show. They could've dropped the show in a whole, but they didn't. Just be happy about that.

America already has enough talentless movies in the fictional and non-fiction department and when they finally see a ray of something different we in the west rarely see, the last thing they, I want to hear is 'deal with the mediocrity! WE ALL KNOW.' If RT did know, there'd be a bit of hiring (and firing if need be) by now. That is unless rt even care about the main selling point of the whole series.

Richard Welch I know the choreography isn't as good as it was, but that wasn't my point. I'm just tired of seeing people complain and whine so much about animation when I'm trying to read positive comments about something I love. It almost feels like all I ever see is complaining so I had to at least say something. I'm not so much speaking about how they shouldn't feel disappointed, I'm speaking up about how much they're doing it. 8 out of 10 comments I see are just complaints and it annoys me so much.
I am in love with the quality of the plants in the background. It seems like such a small thing, but I've been watching since the beginning and seeing the steady increase in animation quality is beautiful!

It’s been fun seeing the consistent improvement in the animation for this show. I just got done re watching volume 1 with some friends who have never watched RWBY and then I watched this video on my own. Animation-wise, things have been picking up for the series. I’m just hoping volume 5 can get the pace of the plot to move a little better than volume 4 did.
Wayneisboss Agreed. The animation has come a long way. It's just a shame that the story couldn't pick up the pace as well.
Trying to fit in SIX story arcs in the span of one season doesn't make for good pacing or development, as Volume 4 has shown.
They really need to bring RWBY back together to make the pacing right, or at the very least reduce it to maybe two story arcs.
This is why Yang is my favorite character in the show. She is super badass. She is strong. She has a cool design. She is confident, but still nice and friendly, and the best big sister ever. And she has a great weapon and fighting style.
I can't wait to see her back in Volume 5

I find it an interesting contrast between ruby and yang's sibling relationship shown in this trailer and Weiss and winter's relationship in the previous. Both are big sisters moving on to bigger things but wanting their little sisters to flourish without them. both engaging in combat training however while yang promises to always have ruby's back, winter shows Weiss the importance of needing to forever cover her own. Which method is best you might ask, who knows but it's interesting that both methods would be useless if used on the other younger sibling. SO the question is, which type of big sibling do you wanna be?

Maybe this will be lost to the big comment section but Yang saying "you can't always run away from your problems" makes so much sense for her fighting style. Her weapon requires her to be close to her enemy, confronting it upfront. You saw it, whenever she hit the grimm from the sides it barely took any damage, when she shoots it from a distance it doesn't do much. But when she goes upfront and blocks the paw, she gets a chance to shoot it to it's weakest point (i.e. the belly where it doesn't have any armour)
Heck, even her semblance requires her to be in the front, taking damage before she can fight back.
The "you can't run away from your problems" thing was a cheeky Blake joke. Foreshadowing.
+Soarel Still a fact that can be applied in real life. There are actually situations where running away isn't an option and running away from your fears doesn't help you be less afraid of them. It makes you more afraid of them and can eventually make you so scared of encountering them, you'll be too afraid to leave your house/apartment.
Actually running is always an option there's just some points in life where it's not the right thing to do. There's nothing wrong with taking a step away from it but overall trying to avoid it completely almost never works out. But in response to Yang's comment, she basically tried to force Ruby into a situation she's not comfortable with, she isn't a brawler, she doesn't have the strength for that. That's like getting a random person off the street putting them up against a champion mma fighter. You see how that would end poorly for the random right? Well in this case the random is Ruby. Even if Yang wasn't going to seriously hurt her sister, I wouldn't want to take that punch either lol. Ruby is a scythe weilder, she spends all her time training with her scythe. You can't just force someone to try to learn a new style and then get it all in one day. That's something that takes time, commitment and skill. Let's just say if Yang didn't recover as quickly as she did. Ruby would be dead because she was frozen in fear
+Kendrick BaldwinTV Not bringing the scythe at all when they were training in Grim infested woods was far from the best idea Yang ever had, but I guess that's why Ruby was team leader (That was a joke, I know that's not the real reason.). Anyway, Yang had the right idea wanting to train Ruby in hand-to-hand, since as a huntress, she's likely to find herself in situations where she's without her weapon (which happened in Volume 2 and resulted in her getting captured), or where her weapon is either inopportune or inappropriate for a situation. Fortunately, while it isn't really touched if Ruby ever improved in hand-to-hand after V2, she does at least seem capable of wielding other bladed weapons effectively, such as Penny's sword in Volume 3. We can also assume that, since her scythe functions as a firearm, she could improvise with standard gun, and while she would be out of her specialty, it seems like she could probably manage with something akin to Blake's weapon.
Honestly though, at an academy like Beacon, they really should have teams go through unarmed sparring, as well as sessions where they swap weapons with other students to round out their skill sets a bit, because overspecialization builds weaknesses, and weaknesses make one easy prey for both opportunists and strategists. Of course, you can always wind up flat out outmatched like when RNJR fought Tyrian, but that's more about general combat experience.

This fight, right here, just shows how much RWBYS Animation has changed. It get's better every year. And it actually looked a lot smoother compared to past year fights.
Really proud of the animation team behind this show. They've been improving and doing better, and somehow STILL bringing in Volume content quickly enough that we aren't waiting forever for each Volume/Season.

I love the bond between Yang and Ruby. You can see clearly how much they love and care for each other. This vid was worth the wait :)
I just realized that when Yang was thrown by the Grimm she did the same mid air pose when she lost her arm after charging Adam back in Volume 3.
I keep coming back to watch this. There's a lot I like about it: the expressions, the voices and of course, the animation, all capped with a heart-warming message at the end.

1. Why the hell Ursa didn't kill Ruby when it got a chance?
2. Yang lunches herself to the air, wants to hit the Ursa and lands after that... and THEN hits him?
3. Why Ursa is showing his back when he was in the front of Yang just a second ago?
4. How Yang got into it's mouth? Just how?

Jared Baly its not really about monetization, it's about them trying to make money on their own company rather than having to go through a 3rd party like TH-cam, I'm surprised not a ton of other TH-camrs do it as well. Money on TH-cam is complicated and you don't get much, RT being on their own really makes them way more money which lets them do way higher budget projects like this
ninja gość Believe it or not but the fights were the thing that people got into the series (don't even deny that) and now without Monty (God bless his soul) the animators work without any plan from what I've seen, heck, I bet they don't even have any storyboard for this (intended overreacting).
The amount of inconsistens is just dreadful. They need to take a break and learn one or two things from some animation teachers, I think they could do that.

To everyone saying "HOW DID YANG USE HER SEMBLANCE WITHOUT AURA!?????" Yang is NOT out of aura. Her aura 'breaking' means she's dropped to 15% (or less) and so she doesn't have enough for it to shield her. That does not means she's out of it. Did you all forget Volume 3? Honestly.

Incorrect, every instance of that effect was used when the user was deleted of aura. V3 C4 Mercury's Aura was 0. V3 C7 Amber's aura was depleted and didn't protect her from Cinder's Aura as it normally would have. V3 C12 Pyrrha aura was lost when she hit the wall and after that she was pierced in the heel by the glass arrow. You have even find more evidence in V4 C12 when Ren and Nora lost their aura. Same with Qrow and Tyrian in V4 C7. V3 C1 Reese from ABRN had low aura below 15% and it didn't shatter. That effect was literally created to show that there characters were vulnerable and for the audience to know when its depleted. Trust me, even in V3 C12 and V4 C6, Adam and Tyrian ever really broke their aura completely but slashed through it but was not fully broken. Even Ruby lost her aura in that same chapter (V4 C6) and it was significant. Did for forget everything? Honestly.
I read a reply in a comment that said that the animation was to show that Yang's aura took a big hit, but of course it was not depleted. To me it's the best explanation.
The 15% thing isnt true but their aura can drop low enough to not be used as a shield and leave them with some left. Although the evidence for this is when Yang had her arm cut off and could be chalked up to RT not wanting to make it red instead but that would also be bit stupid.
The 15% thing was just a tournament rule, to keep combatants from hurting each other. Glynda also explained in Volume 1 that when your aura drops into the red (less than 15%) you are still shielded, but need to go on the defensive.
They're improving the technical aspects of their action scenes. But they're still need to work a lot. I enjoyed the music, and the contrast between past and present Yang. Well Done RT

So glad they kept her fighting style relavent to the timeline. Back then, Yang SUCKED compared to how much she's improved over the show. Not to say she was bad back then - it's just nowadays she could beat that ursa in a few hits, not a whole fight. And, natural to how she was back then, she just threw a temper tantrum - as her daddy put it - to win like she always did. Well done, Rooster!
Finally a comment that makes some sense. Everyones complaining that it’s a terrible fight and it’s like, we saw yang kill an ursa with ease back in V1 so...

Actually, this wasn't a Beowulf; it's an Ursa... & possibly in Devil Trigger mode judging by the black smoke being emitted by it. This episode took place shortly before season 1, & prolly shortly before or after her Yellow Trailer where she fought much better than this. Now I don't know if the DT thing is real or not but still, Yang should've been able to perform better than this judging by her performance against Junior & his two bouncer babe & where she easily beat up two Ursa (even though one was felled by Blake). I attribute this to the choreography team not being consistent with Yang's skills in the timeline. I count half dozen CinemaSins in this episode alone.
