It’s about damn time that Disney brought back hand-drawn/2D animation in their films! I mean, the last time we had 2D animation in a Disney film was 2011's "Winnie the Pooh", and that was eleven years ago, people! *ELEVEN!*

I honestly cried when the 2D came back The original is an instant classic and I think this movie held up REALLY well Disenchanted is basically perfect and no one will change my mind
I think that's even the plot of the movie. Disney is also transforming everything into Live action movies, and indeed this 2D animation had been mostly "dead". When I had read that these animation studios were closed and there wouldn't be this animation anymore, it felt for me that Disney was "dead". And so Disenchanted is the "official revival" of 2D animation. Have you also got these amazing references to the Frozen movies, Pocahontas, Brave, 1950 Cinderella (the transformation!!!!) ?
The very last Disney Princess movie that has 2D hand drawn animation before changing it in 3D animation (Tangled) was Princess and the Frog. I was so excited and very thrilled, when I first saw in the trailer that they brought back 2D animation style once again. I mean come on, we live for it! It’s the classic, iconic, and masterpiece animation of Disney since the very beginning.

@@charlieandthechocfactrules9186 unfortunately the project of tangled had years focusing on cg over 3d and they had a good piece of asset work in their previous six year (!) project tangled untangled. Unlike frozen it was planned to be cg for quite a while.
The animators at the time were overworked, underpaid and even with the same directors and writers, it was very difficult to constantly get hit movies. It was either a hit or a miss..
cause is faster and cheaper to just use computers. and i dont know if there are many people who could now make a full 2D ANIMATED.LAST MAJOR ONE FOR DISNEY WAS pRINCESS AND THE FROG AND THEY CONSIDERED THAT A FLOP(SORRY FOR CAPS )

Hey everyone, as someone who worked on the 2D on this film (I was a production assistant) I'd like to thank you all for the love!! It really means a lot to see everyone excited for 2D animation. Do know that Tonic DNA did all the 2D animation (not by Disney but contracted by them obviously), with around 140 people working over the span of 18 months (a year of preproduction and then 7 months of production). I wasn't super duper involved since I was more involved near the end but it was stunning to see how it evolved, the artists did a super job!!
I think the team did an amazing job, it was almost like being blasted back to my childhood of 2D animated everything. So much nostalgia. It was so beautiful!
For everyone screaming "Yay! Disney is bringing 2D animation back" "My childhood is coming back! 😭💖" etc. Don't get your hopes up. Disney has proven that they have no intentions of making 2D full-length feature films anymore. They're only interested in cheap 3D cash grabs. Besides, the 2D animation in this movie doesn't even look that good compared to the first Enchanted or any of the 2D animated films from the Disney renaissance. So, if we were to get new 2D animated films in the future, they're not going to look very good.

@@scoutart1508 Well, from what I've read, Disney will be focusing on live-action movies for the near future and we're barely going to get ANY animated movies from now through 2025. And the few animated movies we're getting are 3D animated, with the exception of one that's half 2D half 3D, so I won't hold my breath. Good luck on your passion project though. Yes! The look of the 2D animation and smoothness of it brings back childhood memories. I don't know if they're completely bringing it back, but it's still nice to see all the same.

Magic, excitement, fantasy, fairy tales, action, music, and adventure. When entering Andalasia, you become animated and look a little different. I know I would be too. Awesome to be in a animated fairy tale story. I love it.
Y'all realize that this is the first time Disney has animated in 2D since, like, "The Princess and the Frog"?😭 As far as I can remember, at least... Point being that it's been way too long and I really wish that they'd still animate at least a *couple* of projects like this every once in a while. :( EDIT: Y’all, kindly, my point was not that Disney has NEVER done 2D since PATF because I do know that that’s not true, I did say “as far as I can remember”. If we count animated TV shows, there's been a lot of 2D animation, though none of them in the "classic Disney" style. Amphibia. The Owl House. DuckTales. Hamster and Gretel. The Tanged and Big Hero 6 spinoff series. And so forth.
@@darladimple8437 Well, they say they are training new animators and 2D animation takes a long time to draw. Maybe and hopefully in the future, they will be talented enough to make full length movies and not just brief scenes of them.
90% or maybe more are about people who miss 2D animations. I'm also miss them. Even that 3D animation are great I have sentiment for 2D animations. They have something magical.
You wanna know why I hate 2D Disney movies now, do ya? When you grow up a Pixar fan, nobody shows up to agree with your opinions. 2D Disney movies are a constant reminder that it's fans think of Pixar fans like me as a disgraceful. distasteful. 3D-enjoying monster. But you know it kind of always have been like this. For you see the sequels of Pocahontas, the hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin, etc, they don’t look good either.
If you look really closely, though I’m happy that 2D animation is back, the quality of this animated scene isn’t as great as I expected it to be. I feel like Disney didn’t put as much effort into the animation as they used to be. But hey! I liked the movie either way!

@@gabbyvillarreal1062 She could still pass as a teenager Gabriella Baldacchino is 4 years younger to Rachel Covey. But she already quit acting more than a decade ago. She’s now pursuing a different career and pathway but still related to musical. Well the casting director and producers did a great job for choosing Gabby as the teen Morgan. She does really look like the original Morgan when she was a teenager. Not to mention she a beautiful and impressive voice.

The 2D animation in Enchanted is way more better, detailed, and far superior than the 2D animation of Disechanted. It's more like Disney Renaissance style than this animation. I guess they hired different animators and art directors.

Yeah, all the 3D movies look the same. Notice how in "Strange World" even the "diverse" characters all have that same look with the same eyes and noses, like rubber puppets with ugly slit mouths....ugh. You can take just one frame of classic 2D movies and they still have tons of appeal; but take a screenshot of Strange World? blah. I think the 3D look will be dated soon and used for "horror" movies, like so many outdated cartoons are eventually

Too bad they didn’t do the animation in house like the old days. They have very capable animators who can teach a new generation of animators the ways of hand drawn animation, and they say they’re going to have classes for hand drawn animation at Disney again, but I’ve yet to see the fruits of that ambition.
I was so happy. Morgan animated. We literally just have new Disney princess. And like this whole scene in animation is my favorite on this movie. And Idina singing 🤩. I love her animation character. I want this whole freaking movie like different part to be animated.
I haven’t seen the movie yet I’ve only seen clips, but I have a few things to say. First off, I think it’s hilarious how Morgan is questioning what’s going on with such enthusiasm, I feel like we didn’t really see any huge reactions to characters changing from cartoons to real people and vice versa in the original film (again, I haven’t seen this yet so I don’t know if this is the only reaction like that we see from a character. No one spoil that for me, please.) Also, I know the actress for Morgan is fairly new to the film industry, so I must say, she is NAILING the voice work, she sounds perfect for a kids’ show or something like that. And finally, why do I kinda want a poster of this animated Morgan in my room?
We only see Morgan's reaction which the movie focuses little off, the rest of the movie goes more into real world and bringing the 2D into real world physics which I love how they combined 2D and real life together, sadly Edward dies

This scene somewhat gives me vibes of the *_Jimmy Timmy Power Hour_* trilogy when the Dimmsdale characters went into Retroville and the Retroville characters went into Dimmsdale.
The artstyle of the first Enchanted movie is much more beautiful and smooth tho... Disney, this is a call to return to 2D art for a while and polish up your skills, you're getting rusty

However, there was also Mary Poppins Returns in 2018 that had some scenes with traditional Disney animation.

But you know it kind of always have been like this. For you see the sequels of Pocahontas, the hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin, etc, they don’t look good either.
If you look really closely, though I’m happy that 2D animation is back, the quality of this animated scene isn’t as great as I expected it to be. I feel like Disney didn’t put as much effort into the animation as they used to be. But hey! I liked the movie either way!

I read she wasn’t recast for the part because, in the movie, her character is a teenager, but, in real life, she was already out of her teens.
@@gabbyvillarreal1062 She could still pass as a teenager Gabriella Baldacchino is 4 years younger to Rachel Covey. But she already quit acting more than a decade ago. She’s now pursuing a different career and pathway but still related to musical. Well the casting director and producers did a great job for choosing Gabby as the teen Morgan. She does really look like the original Morgan when she was a teenager. Not to mention she a beautiful and impressive voice.
I believe Morgan is finally here in Andalasia.

The 2D animation in Enchanted is way more better, detailed, and far superior than the 2D animation of Disechanted. It's more like Disney Renaissance style than this animation. I guess they hired different animators and art directors.

I'm very happy this movie really stuck with the original 2D animation not the 3D animated models. Disney you finally show us the bloody potential what 2D animation can do. This scene plus Queen Nancy singing together already won my heart. Did you see the background works and walking animation is so good!!!! Why can't we have more of those!
Ooooooh I WISH Disney could make another princess movie animated this way...Tangled's artstyle would look SO much better like this, and I wish we had a new princess movie to enjoy. I miss 2D animation!
Yeah, all the 3D movies look the same. Notice how in "Strange World" even the "diverse" characters all have that same look with the same eyes and noses, like rubber puppets with ugly slit mouths....ugh. You can take just one frame of classic 2D movies and they still have tons of appeal; but take a screenshot of Strange World? blah. I think the 3D look will be dated soon and used for "horror" movies, like so many outdated cartoons are eventually

Too bad they didn’t do the animation in house like the old days. They have very capable animators who can teach a new generation of animators the ways of hand drawn animation, and they say they’re going to have classes for hand drawn animation at Disney again, but I’ve yet to see the fruits of that ambition.

I haven’t seen the movie yet I’ve only seen clips, but I have a few things to say. First off, I think it’s hilarious how Morgan is questioning what’s going on with such enthusiasm, I feel like we didn’t really see any huge reactions to characters changing from cartoons to real people and vice versa in the original film (again, I haven’t seen this yet so I don’t know if this is the only reaction like that we see from a character. No one spoil that for me, please.)
Also, I know the actress for Morgan is fairly new to the film industry, so I must say, she is NAILING the voice work, she sounds perfect for a kids’ show or something like that. And finally, why do I kinda want a poster of this animated Morgan in my room?
We only see Morgan's reaction which the movie focuses little off, the rest of the movie goes more into real world and bringing the 2D into real world physics which I love how they combined 2D and real life together, sadly Edward dies

They did 2D animation for Tangled the series and it looked very much like the traditional classic Disney animation.

This scene somewhat gives me vibes of the *_Jimmy Timmy Power Hour_* trilogy when the Dimmsdale characters went into Retroville and the Retroville characters went into Dimmsdale.
The artstyle of the first Enchanted movie is much more beautiful and smooth tho... Disney, this is a call to return to 2D art for a while and polish up your skills, you're getting rusty
