The easiest way to pop off the shell is to push apart the two front wheel covers with your thumb-nails, then push the pointy bit at the front away from the shell.
One of my favorite Hot Wheels castings of all time. Ironically the version I'm still missing is the green Treasure Hunt. You know with just a couple of clear scotch tape strips you can turn Cloak and Dagger into a funny car. The plastic body is so light it can literally hold up to take cool pictures and even roll it down the track.
Cloak and Dagger is a mainstream term used to mean spies: like the CLoak and Dagger movie from the 80s, unrelated to the Marvel super-heroes. The phrase is older than the Marvel Super-Hero duo.
Just a heads up. Finally found the Green Treasure Hunt version from 2014. Looks better than I thought. The color makes the car looks like it was made in glass. I also found a New Models red one. The alternate color to the original Black one, but it still looks cool. last , but not least I found a yellow clear one. The color fits the casting's curves beautifully. It was a good week for Cloak and Daggers.
I have a (earlier?) version of the Cloak and Dagger, 3rd of 5 of the HW Glow Racers (42/250), t)he removable top is transparent, with some purple/white decorations, the bottom section with the wheels is made of glow-in-the-dark material, put it close to a light for a few minutes, then turn off the light in a darkened room and the car glows (in this version, even though I was able to remove the top with difficulty, I recently cut my fingernails, can not now pry the top off with my fingernails, with the transparent top,you don't need to remove the top to see the glowing material under it
hold the model with your left hand, and with your right hand, from the front, lift up the piece, with your nail, the top portion will obviously come off, give that a try, might have to wiggle it as you’re lifting
Also time for the Day of the Dead series again for Halloween! Great time to let go of some not so fav castings to the kids haha - better than candy! Edit: Nice watch for a 10 yo ;)

I'm a wimp. i use a credit card😂😂 slide it from the wheel wells forward until one side pops off then get the other side no problem🙏🙏

pick at the sides and with your thumb grab the pointy front end and pull apart. works every time. That's how I did with Ground Effix.

I think you spread the sides open as they clip into the sides.
