    I suspect the sellers are using a precise scale to weigh the mystery packages, they know how much the Bugatti packages should weigh and keep those.

      I thought the same thing as you and thought he should have stopped opening them but as he continued to open I realized that he was had either way because the seller went through all the time to reglue almost every package and most likely put the .90 cent cars in the mystery cars place as they probably cost $5.00 a piece at least. The seller by doing this had no intention of acknowledging the buyer or his complaint about the scam as he has probably done this multiple times to other people and what can be done about this scammer as you know you take all the risk as a buyer and hope the transaction will be in good faith. The moral of this man's disappointment is people are always going to make a lot more than they spend which tells us that we will always live in a dishonest world and always deal with dishonest people trying to get rich off of other people's honesty. It's not right whether the guy didn't know the name of the cars or not as he probably is doing well financially or he wouldn't have taken the gamble. I'm from a big city and my money is earned through construction so I don't take chances where the odds of being ripped off are high and this I attribute to living in a high crime big city as it does keep you on your toes but doesn't always make you a scammer or a thief and especially a victim. Being honest and being dumb can be similar but only if you don't separate them !

    I dont know man, I've opened a ton of Hot Wheels in my time, and they look legit. They do not look like the have been opened previously and looked factory sealed. What makes you think they were opened? Look at how the cardboard rips as you open them. Look at how the glue is attached to the plastic. Just because you bought 90 mystery packs, does not mean you will even get a single Bugatti VEYRON. It's called odds man.

    • @Murica_gaming
      @Murica_gaming 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      maddog187killa the thing about what you said is the odds are that you'd get around 3 of each car in 90 packs someone else did the math on another comment I don't feel like doing it again lol

    • @QuantumRift
      @QuantumRift 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      No, the 'factory sealing' can be opened and faked. And somebody who is very good at it can make it look factory. Some were bagged and some were not bagged. And you only have to open the pack enough to see what's inside and seal it back up if it's not what you want....and many of those cars were in the packs upside down when he pulled them out. Oh and scratches and fingerprints are also a dead giveaway the car isn't 'mint' out of pack. DUH.

      Acetone brushed on the back of the card will loosen the glue allowing the removal of the car. To reseal just use a heat gun on the blister to reheat and affix the glue.

      @@Murica_gaming Did they take into account the the Bugatti Veyron was a purposely scarce find, even when it wasn't in the Mystery Set? And the ~1,000 Bugattis a month spread across the world, of course he isn't going to get one by purchasing 90 from one seller.
      And if he really wanted on, there's a factory code on the boxes that will tell you what should be in that box is you really want to ruin the fun of it.

    Hey Phil, figured I'd give you my two cents. I can't tell if they've been resealed or not although the cars were packaged in sets from the factory. Meaning the cars you had could have been bought all at once unfortunately not a set with bugattis. Also the plastic wrapping is random. Some cars have them while others don't. Meaning two of the same car may or may not have it.

    What made me laugh was the fact that such a experienced collector had know idea what nearly all the cars was called..? Don’t know what that’s called..? Oh that’s another one of those things..? That’s a quad thing..? Really..!!No wonder he was easily scammed. Not that I condone ripping off people but they are relying on stupid greedy people to make the scam work and found a easy victim. Or the have to have it now and greed clearly admitted in the video probably was the blinkers needed for the scam to work .No sympathy for people with no knowledge clearly for what apparently they specify in. Hey Phil, I'm going to be talking about some points in your video in the Weekend Show. It was not unusual for Mystery Cars to have less-than-perfect deco's. I'm not sure the baggies helped or not as they were not always used.
    The Mystery Cars were just another series so every couple months, new cars were released. For example, somebody could buy hundreds of them during March but some other models were scheduled at that time.
    It's a shame that somebody re-glued the packages. I'm glad that you got your refund.

      HurricaneAndrewGTM actually, in 2018, Jeep had a concept vehicle called Jeepster. It was for their annual Easter Jeep Weekend. The casting he mentioned does look very similar to the Jeepster concept. It has a very similar roof line, as well as, short body overhang. When he first opened it, I actually thought it was “knockoff “ of the Jeepster.

      if you used ebay and paypal as well as found out in time (less than 2 months) then the seller had no option but to refund or be forced to refund and then take a huge hit on their account causing them to be anywhere from charged higher fees per sale, to having their account closed and banned from ebay. so always complain, and open a ticket with ebay if you think you have been scammed or ripped off in anyway, and make the seller do the right thing,
      also watch out for sellers that give you a runnaround where they take all day to respond to a simple message and the response is a question you already answered or has no relevance, as this is them trying to frustrate you or run out the clock so you can not open a dispute. I give them 3 messages and only 24 hours between each one, any longer and I open a dispute immediately, I also let them know what the criteria to avoid my opening a dispute is, so they know if they are trying to screw me, its going to result in that dispute which hurts their reputation.
      the other big thing is they send you an address to return the item, that is not in the US mail system, and will be corrected by the USmail system automatically, If you see this, be aware that they might be able to claim you never returned the item to them, and sent it to the wrong address making it your problem to get the package back,
      I had one try this and used google maps and the USmail service to show that the address they sent, and the correction was the same address so they ended up having to admit they got the item and that was a huge blow, but I had to actually call up, eBay customer service and walk them through the process on their end, before they realized what was going on. and I recorded the whole call and screen info incase I needed it later using OBS (open broadcaster software located at obsproject.com I believe, and free I know for sure. as an open source project so no malware or any nonsense if you install it :) ) there are ways I can show that buyers can scam sellers too, and how to protect yourself it you have a worry, you can always message me :)

    For those that don't know peek/re-gluing is a common scam in collectible car mystery packs or mystery packs in general also the open and switch these cars. If you watch in HD some of the cars had scratches and finger prints all over them. Un-commons and rares are wrapped in plastic so these were tampered with he was correct to get his money back he paid for un-opened mystery cars not someones leftover crap that they didn't want. He did not ruin this sellers product the seller or the person the seller bought the box of cars from was a crook. I watch a lot of Phil's videos he is not a crook or dishonest you armchair experts would be losing your minds if you got took like he did so lets not be so quick to judge. Scams like this on Amazon and Ebay are very common I think both the seller and buyer were took here by a third party. (who sold the seller the box of cars)I do think he was expecting a bit much to get 20 rares out of 90 cars maybe out of 200.

      @@PeakTimeRacing It's still messed up that you spent $300 for a waste of your time my son is 4 he loves your racing videos. I have tracks in my house going everywhere but yeah the peek switch and re-glue is a common scam the seller more than likely bought the box from a shady dealer. This happens a lot in the collectible card game market dealers will open packs take out the rares switch them for a less expensive rare and repackage them never buy or open anything that looks tampered with always box it back up and send it back if you have any doubts. I know you were excited to get some Bugatti's but you might have noticed the tampering had you slowed down and inspected the packages. You got your money back so no harm no foul but now everyone can learn the lesson about buying mystery packs. I just don't understand why these people think you ripped the seller off when you can clearly see that the packages were glued and a lot of the cars were not in the plastic dust covers. Someone went to a lot of trouble to put this scam together and it was a bad job with damaged cars switched for your rare cars you had 5 or 6 Bugatti's I would say that were switched out for the gold cars.

      Terry G I would say that the seller is the greedy one, he scammed the guy. It was rigged from the beginning with no chance of him getting a rare casting. I am sure the seller sold the hard to find ones on eBay for a crazy amount. There are true collectors that will spend crazy money to get something they like. Personally, I don’t do that and think it is crazy, but it is their money. Just because he hoped to get several hard to find castings, doesn’t mean he intends to resale them. Some just like to have multiple examples in their collection.

Wet the bottom and both sides work it in until the glue softens up then gently lift it until the car falls out then slide in the replacement hold down blister to card and it will set as the acetone dries off. no damage no reglueing no sign of tampering. They were supposedly used to try to reduce paint and finish marring from packaging, but many say they didn't do much good - getting marred finish on ones from verified and known good sources. So unless you find dirt or other foreign objects in there, or clear singns of wear, evidence of regluing is the only definitive evidence.

      mammyrammer yes, but it varied depending on the casting. The bags are used on castings that are prone to scratching in the package, so if one example had a bag all of the same should too. There were several that were missing the bags (the DC Batmobile, the first one he opened, the green one he called a Jeep, and I think one of the gold ones) which means someone took it out.

    • @peterparker6584

      eBay has gotten good at screwing sellers! Let me give you a example where on seller and I got screwed by a buyer lined to eBay.i had a Nintendo wii which was new in box! Bear in mind it was old stock from a store that closed down. This was about two years back so that would give you a rough idea how old it was. I had about 30 or 40 people e-mail me complaining they could tell if it was merely an empty box or a real will inside. I then had seven people did on it and refuse to pay for it because they claimed I could prove they weren't receiving an empty box. After seven or eight people pulling that you can imagine how ticked off I was. Next person who bid on it insisting that I take everything out and prove the item was complete I relisted the damn thing and this time open the package up and slaughter grabbed everything that was inside explaining in the listing that I had opened the package in order to photograph the contents and put it back in the box. now next person comes along bids on it and pays for it. Couple days after he receives the item he opens a case with eBay claiming the Nintendo Wii was used and quote taken out of the box and repacked. So eBay gave him his money back.and bill me for the item the amount that he bid on it. When I contacted eBay on the phone they informed me all those kind of decisions are made by a automated system all system decisions are final and they recused to overturn the case or give me back my money once they had given him a refund. Before somebody mentions this it actually wasn't cost effective for me to pay out the money to have it mailed back to me because the shipping was so expensive. In order to get the item back the amount of money I would've lost between the shipping where I initially shipped it plus what I initially paid for it then you tack on what it would've cost have it mailed back and I subsequently wouldn't be able to sell it again because at this point it was only worth about $10 versus what one is worth in the original box. You see them at yard sales all the time used with games for 10 and $20. It's extremely rare to get one like that still in the box and I could physically prove that he didn't merely take it out of the box play with it for two or three days then claim it was used or that he wasn't merely using another similar machine claiming it was used. It's a common scam where people will buy something then claim it is not matching the description and immediately get a refund and there's nothing you can do about it. Furthermore if you want them to mail it back you have to pay for the shipping because it's a item not as described case. I have the thing listed as buyer must pay return shipping and eBay informed me that I would have to pay for shipping because the case was opened under item not as described which negated the purchaser having to pay for return shipping. I have had several similar cases to this where people bought items that were battery operated and then claim the item didn't work when they received it and subsequently got a refund. In each case I had literally tested the item before I mailed it I even included batteries with the item in one case in a package unopened separate from the item where I figured I'd be nice and give the guy batteries with it. Another scam I have had somebody pulled just this week was with a vacuum! The purchaser has opened a case with eBay under item not as described claiming the vacuum doesn't match the pictures in the listing needless to say as a seller I have no grounds to prove anything and he's Artie been given a refund by eBay how am I supposed to prove the allegations by the purchaser or false? The best thing that really gets me is he claims the hose was blocked which I Artie know is incorrect I literally vacuumed up a couple items before I listed the vacuum to confirm that they were going through the hose into the bag area. Second he claims the PowerMate was full of string and other objects and this was a PowerMate that I dismantled completely cleaned and put back together. His next complaint was the hose is all greasy and grimy like it's been in a automotive facility and that the vacuum itself is heavily dirty. First of all it's a used vacuum I didn't get to particular with cleaning the canister area of the vacuum and it's a collateral locks that normally sells for around over 100+ the shipping due to the condition of the vacuum itself I sold it for40 plus the shipping. There were bloody of pictures in the listing and I'll also point out the hose was white when I packed it as it was pictured in the listing only way the hose got dirty the way he's claiming is he used the vacuum someplace and then open the claim. Once again how is there any way for a seller to do anything? I'm trying to figure out this particular case where admittedly I couldn't really tell if those had been resealed vehicles and I would think even eBay would where you are in a video opening the vehicles be a little bit reluctant to give you a refund where you've opened a package item.
      Another thing with eBay that I ran into trouble with a few years ago is tracking. I keep having people refusing to pay shipping claiming I'm charging too much for shipping and how much it should actually cost and they don't understand it's because of the tracking fee with Canada post. As an example a box going to England cost nearly $30 more to ship strictly because of the tracking number without shipping it with tracking the shipping would've been $30 less. As ridiculous as that sounds. Minimum tracking to the US starts out around $19 Canadian and goes up in some cases these are items without tracking that would be around seven or eight dollars Canadian to mail. Needless to say I keep getting people filing complaints about I'm overcharging for shipping even with me including paperwork from the post office showing each shipping option and how much to their address. It's getting really ridiculous where you're a seller and all it requires is a buyer to make any complaint and they automatically get a refund without proving the grounds of their complaint. Most cases what they do is file a claim on something that would be cost effective to pay for return shipping. I've also had a few really bizarre issues like I had several heavy antique typewriters listed on eBay each one in a metal container carrying case specifically designed to handle being in the cargo compartment of an airline flight. The guy that did on them insisted they all be mailed in one box which ended up not being feasible he kicked up quite a bit of fuss about claiming you had to mail something combined if the seller insisted on it I ended up having to pay for a large chunk of the shipping out of my own pocket and mail the typewriters into boxes I forget exactly how many there was altogether I think there was six or eight.. Remember I mentioned each of these typewriters was in a metal airline transport carrying case! Once he received the items he claims they were all broken and shipping and that I did a poor job of packing them. Think about that statement for a minute first of all this guy screamed and yelled about the price of shipping and you don't want to know how heavy some of those typewriters were. Second he kicked up a big fuss about combined shipping claiming they should all be mailed in one box which the post office wouldn't go for because of the size and weight of the box. And not having to mail them into separate boxes and there wasn't a lot of leeway for using any kind of packing because of what the shipping was costing. Basically the post office jumped down my throat despite the fact this was all in shored claiming it was possible for the typewriters to be damaged in shipping and that his pictures didn't prove damage by this time eBay had already given him a refund and I've been arguing with the post office for nearly a month. Since this particular case any time I mail something that gets broken in the mail the post office lines is weak excuse and refuses to pay for the damage. Their typical excuse is I didn't use a box from the post office and my local post office I will point out doesn't carry boxes big enough to mail these items in. I've had two items that I mailed through the post office wrapped in bubble wrap and when the box arrived it resembled having been in a trash compactor the box was less than half its original size and the contents Were in a tubelike shape from their original shape and were basically a crushed mass of brokenjunk and the post office refused to pay for the damages claiming I didn't use a sufficient box and that the post office wasn't responsible. Exactly what are you supposed to use for a box that will permit the box from being completely destroyed along with its contents? Even the guy that received the item in one case said it was clearly something to do with handling of the post office and in this case it was a rare turntable that are not exactly common defined let alone complete in working order.
      Another of the stunts I've been having people pulling is I sell a lot of rare vintage videogame items. I'll sell somebody a CD game and when they receive it they'll claim the game is scratched up and doesn't work. In one case I even had somebody returned the game and it wasn't the same copy that I mailed them and there was no way for me to prove the game they sent back wasn't the same one That was mailed to them. I knew right away because the manual was damaged and several other indicators to suggest it was of the same item that I mailed bought another copy in lesser condition.
      This is what is referred to as I think the term bait and switch they will get a cheap damaged item or have the items damaged or broken then buy another item the same in better condition than claim the seller sent them a broken item and returned the opposite in its place if the person requests it being returned it sucks!!!!!

      That’s a pretty shit lesson because being able to physically inspect them first wouldn’t have helped one bit in this situation, the packages appeared completely normal from the outside, it wasn’t until he had opened a large portion of them did it become apparent they had been tampered with. Unless you are suggesting that when somebody is interested in something they should first take possession of it, then tear open the packaging to look at the actual item, before finally deciding they don’t actually want it after all and returning a now opened item back to the seller...Because clearly that approach is just going to wind up putting everybody out of business thanks to wasted time and piles and piles of ruined stock.. but then again, the fact you seem to think it’s up to scammer to decide if he wants to refund one of his victims or not, kinda shows you have no experience in this kind of thing whatsoever.
