      Wow, Angel, I really appreciate that feedback. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know, and I love that you're sharing the knowledge! There is often so much confusion and inconsistencies among clinicians on the scoring and interpretation of this assessment, so I'm glad you and your team found it useful.

    What if on Reflexes for items 1-8 the patient never scored any 2's, just several 0's and 1's. How do we calculate that?

    • @WarrenMcAdamsPT
      @WarrenMcAdamsPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Laura,
      I apologize for my delay and hope this finds you well. You have a brilliant question and I’ve encountered this scenario a number of times in the past. Due to the lack of this being addressed in the literature I’ve come across, I personally report something along the lines of “Given a score of 2 on three consecutive items was not present for the Gross Motor Subtest- Reflexes, PT was unable to establish a corresponding basal score (I do still include a ceiling score if one is present). However, the patient’s raw score was x for Reflexes thus the child’s scaled scores indicate xyz (Standard Score, Percentile Rank, Gross Motor Quotient, etc). As a result, this child receives the Test Description of x (Average, Below Average, Poor, etc).”
      In the event you find conflicting information or contrary belief, please let me know. My primary use of the PDMS-2 has been for clinical use so I can track change in my patients so this way of interpreting has guided me well under the assumption that my findings are still valid and reliable for that corresponding section. However, if you're measure is for contribution to research or literature, you may want to contact the PDMS-2 creators (M. Rhonda Folio or Rebecca R. Fewell) directly for confirmation as I, personally, haven't had luck through the PearsonAssessment site, other distribution sites, or their corresponding help phone lines.

    Thank for your video,,,,,I learning how to use this test but i got stuck ....how I find the Z-score when the PR fall 5 and 9 lets say It is 7 and the GMO is 66....thanks i will really apreciate your help

    • @WarrenMcAdamsPT
      @WarrenMcAdamsPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Firstly, for any other viewers wondering, a Z-Score is a measure of how many standard deviations a raw score is from the mean (above is +# and below the mean is -#)
      If you're wanting to determine Z-Scores, you will first need to convert your Standard Scares into a Quotient or Percentile (Quotients are more preferred/precise to use here- see NOTE below). Once you have the child's Quotient or Percentile, you can go to Appendix D (Table D.1). From there you simply plug in your current found value and view your corresponding Z-Score.
      Example: If my child's Quotient was 75, I would go to Table D.1 (on page 124) and, under the PDMS-2 Quotient column, I would go down until I see 75. Then I drift to the column left to see my corresponding Z-score of -1.67 and, in the furthest column left, a corresponding Percentile of 5.
      NOTE: As mentioned before, it is more desirable to insert the Quotient into Table D.1 rather than the Percentile as some percentiles are associated with multiple Z-Scores and Quotients. For example, if I were to surmise that my percentile rank was 5 and I inserted that into Table D.1, it would be found on two separate lines (one producing Z-score of -1.60 with a Quotient of 76 and another line producing -1.67 with a Quotient of 75. As a result, it is more precise to have your input value as your Quotient to find a singular Z-Score.

    Hello. Very informative and to the point content.
    I need a favour warner I'm currently doing a reserch using Peabody i had all the related content even the questionnaire just the examiner mannual part left. I checked different websites to buy and even you mentioned in a comment but just the examiner manual part is 15k according to my currency and quite expensive. Could you help me in just sharing the examiner mannual part. I would be really really thankful. As a PT there are really few people who work with autistic childs. Please help if you can. Thankyou

      Husna, unfortunately, due to potential copy-write infringements, I am unable to send you PDMS-2 materials. Those must be purchased from the appropriate vendors. Another option might be to check a University Library to see if you can rent one.

    • @WarrenMcAdamsPT
      @WarrenMcAdamsPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The agency I work for provides their staff with these materials. I believe they order them online via the Pearson site which has PDMS-2 Testing Kits, Record Forms, and Response Booklets: www.pearsonassessments.com/store/usassessments/en/Store/Professional-Assessments/Motor-Sensory/Peabody-Developmental-Motor-Scales-%7C-Second-Edition/p/100000249.html?tab=pricing-ordering
      In this video the primary resource I used was the Examiner Record Booklet (0:50) which is the "Response Booklet" on that site.
      For the conversion packet I'm using (6:04), I simply scanned and printed the pages I wanted to reference for the purposes of this video. However, the entire set of conversion charts can be found within one of the booklets (The Examiner's Manual) that should come with the "Kit".
      Note: I do not represent PDMS-2 or Pearson nor do I have any financial disclosures to make. I'm simply a clinician that wants to help others figure out how the PDMS-2 works.

      After doing a quick Google search, it appears that Pearson sells them:
      www.pearsonassessments.com/store/usassessments/en/Store/Professional-Assessments/Motor-Sensory/Peabody-Developmental-Motor-Scales-%7C-Second-Edition/p/100000249.html
      As a side note, I am not affiliated with them in any way.

    The word Kiddo makes me cringe... I think because preppy white chicks (typical OT, and PT) all use it, or honestly I don't know why. Just say kids, they're kids.
