How to Find a Physical Therapist (PT): A Step-by-Step Guide
Step-by-step, I'll show you how to search for a physical therapist by location and specialization and how to navigate a directory to find the right fit for you.
RECOMMENDED: American Physical Therapy Association's ChoosePT directory: aptaapps.apta.org//APTAPTDirectory/FindAPTDirectory.aspx
NOT AS RECOMMENDED: ABPTS Directory: aptaapps.apta.org//APTAPtDirectory/CertifiedSpecialistDirectory.aspx?_gl=1*1fra4gu*_ga*ODIzNDk2ODA4LjE2NzQzMTQ5NjQ.*_ga_ZZJK74HXNR*MTY3NDMxNDk2My4xLjEuMTY3NDMxNTUzMi4wLjAuMA..&_ga=2.111859789.873791208.1674314964-823496808.1674314964
Additionally, while this video shows you how to find PTs who are board-certified clinical specialists, please don't limit yourself to those clinicians alone. A range of factors should be considered when choosing your PT. For example, if other providers can evaluate you much sooner or requires far less drive time than a specialist, the provider without a specialization may be a more ideal option.

If you're unable to stand, here's how to get clothes on with one hand. My earlier video (th-cam.com/video/_Y7KCkSaiTk/w-d-xo.html) the piece on donning pants was directed more so toward individuals who weren't confined to their bed. So, in this video, I will review how to put on pants without leaving your bed without one hand AND whether or not you have use of one or both legs. For those also b...
Putting on a Bra with One Hand (post stroke, hemiplegia, amputation, CP, etc)

A practical way to put on a bra that clasps in the back. Note: if you only have use on one arm, bras that clasp in the front will be must easier. But, if your favorite bra clasps in the back, here's how you might find success using just a single arm. I briefly discussed donning a bra in my earlier video (th-cam.com/video/_Y7KCkSaiTk/w-d-xo.html) but lacked a bra to demo with at the time. So, th...

    Please could you do a video for other variants of getting onto standing position for older children, in particular it hypermobile. I’m thinking of the transition to single leg kneeling, kneeling to standing and walking. I have a 3yr old patient with bilateral hip dysplasia which was missed until she was almost 3. Never crawled or walked. Now post op given no follow up support as told she will learn in her own time. We are now at high kneel stage and crawling thanks to your help

    Just wondering, where is your office based at? Would be wonderful if it were in Florida! I just took my 4 month in to see a physical therapist in regards to her right torticollis and I just felt rushed and that he wasn’t super educated in this type of problem. Frustrating. First I was told when she was born that she will “grow out of it.” Her case is mild because I’ve been on top of doing stretches BUT she still favors leaning her head to the right.. 😕 THANK YOU so very much for you video. Wish there were more of you!

    tried this - fractured wrist - your boobs get in the way so you can't see what you're doing and because i wear properly fitted bras that support you, they fit firmly around the chest; pull the other side round and the bit you're clamping pings away. great vid for flat chested women - who don't need a bra! so it's back to asking my - male - neighbour each day! cripes! pressing up against a door is impossible too cos boobs get in the way. a no go for me, but nice try.

    if you are not a doctor or a pharmacist, then why are you talking about any drugs? And muscle spasticity is not normal...

    • @brandongarner7730
      @brandongarner7730 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you mean, "If you are not a 'physician' or a pharmacist, then why are you talking about drugs?" Because he is a doctor (of physical therapy) and clearly made that note in his disclaimer within the first few seconds of the video. Why he was talking about drugs is listed in the video's description.
 Also, he never said spasticity was normal. Verbatim, he said, "Spasticity is normally CNS in nature- Central Nervous System in nature."

    • @taxidermy_12
      @taxidermy_12 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandongarner7730 then it's even more stupid. In this case, he does not have high-quality information about drugs, why does he talk about them? Only a doctor will prescribe and cancel them.

    This technique is great maybe up to a D cup. Luckily I will only be one-handed for a month or so with carpal tunnel surgery. Can you please show how you would do this with size 38L breasts? I have roughly 25 lbs of breast tissue that fully covers the area where I would rotate the bra. Also if you are wearing larger size underwire bras, flipping the cups up will RUIN the bra. My dominant hand surgery is in a month and I am really desperate for a workable solution that isn't a painful 45 minute wrestling match.

    • @wakingtheworld
      @wakingtheworld ปีที่แล้ว

      wrist surgery so same. i'm a GG though small back. solution - you stand on the street and ask someone to do up your bra... put a t-shirt over it though. i did this every day for weeks following my last wrist fracture. i've moved since then so now i have a neighbour who comes round!
