That was absolutely a masterful shot of the "Jerry" putting the glasses on and seeing a blurry face in the mirror and his actually head in focus. Bravo to all of the crew that produced that masterful shot.
Ya.., don't you see the wife coming from a wealthy Japanese fam.. apparently with the privilege of company' s perks, etc ..she's the client here, in a prototypical future wife'$ option...All the subjects are mislead or lied to...ie. she snuffs him through the agency.
Looked well acted, professional quality…provocative…engaging. I turned it off at about 18 minutes thanks to not understanding about 40% of the dialog. Sound levels can be perfect and someone may still not understand the dialog due to their ear training from childhood as it relates to inflection, accentuated syllables that vary and so many influences; all so simply solved by a viewer choice called closed captioning. Really disappointing. How stupid can you be…
I love that TH-cam is brining up some of the older Dust movies. I've watched a lot of them, but it's good to see them again! Watch "The Leap" last night. Looks like I'll be watching Restoration today. Thank, nutty TH-cam algorithm!
I LOVE your channel ! Very thought-provoking topics. One thing I like is your short films give me my Sci-Fi fix, without getting bored watching a full-length movie. Great for those of us with Attention Deficit !
This was just fantastic. I love how they put these details in that you needed to pay attention to to understand what's happening. It's all there you just have to really watch it. They didn't get into how the clones are made but that's not what this is about so I didn't feel that was necessary. Conceptually amazing and I loved watching it as a whole film. Ohhh I wish DUST would do this more often. I loved it. Everyday a new part to the series was just long enough to wait.. keeping the suspense going. ♥
An excellent production. The twist only got to me in the last scene. Then I thought back to rescuing the girl, and what her mother said. Great storyline, cinematography and acting by the cast.
i dont understand why Oliver in Gavin's body acted so irrationally. he even killed himslef. hoping what? He could have just allowed Emma to restore Gavin back and life goes on. His insisting on continuing to live on doesnt make sense.
This was a great story, made even greater by being filmed in and around Melbourne! (Got a bit homesick. Lol!) Wasn't used to seeing Craig McLachlan without a beard.
Idk if you realize this or not … however… The fact that dude erased his memory to hide something… well that was a big hook. I am sure it leaves people disappointed to never find out what happened. Sure we get it ; he probably was a violent fucker who killed someone and rewound himself to hide it… That is just hints though. The way the story flowed we are almost led to believe that it is a critical story component!
Awesome, whoever is behind many of these dust stories really need a TV network behind them, so much potential for a TV series of movie here on this channel.
So it's SHITE? Waited for this to watch in one go! :( Fucking no idea why I believe you,but I am whacked as a bat right now. Awe well,I'll go elsewhere.
This was really well done. Dust should re-release it so that it get's more views. weird how recent dust videos are getting x100 more views. I guess film makers like this helped get the channel to that viewership
All thumbs up. An short with an happy end! Most time a short let me left with a lot of loose ends and thoughts. Here, actually the same, but an end (btw happy) in between! Good job.
Wow, this was really well done. All elements: acting, directing, editing, etc., and the writing was good, too, which is often a weakness with these short films. I found this one to be really impressive all around. In fact, my one bit of constructive criticism would be that the moment near the end when he's driving in the car with Emma, and he puts a cigarette in his mouth...I found that moment to be a bit awkward/clumsy in terms of storytelling. I think that could have been removed. It would even have made it more powerful when he smokes the cig later in the shipping container. But that's just my take. I also think that there could have been a couple flash moments before this showing that the "host" body/personality was sort of bleeding into this new version, which might have made the end when he snaps at his family even more tragic and powerful. The blend of their faces in the piano was really well done, and haunting, which I think was the intention. Anyway, I am disappointed to see so much almost hostile criticism. I think this was really good work, and I hope that the filmmakers get a chance to do more projects and hone their craft even further.
Thanks for watching it and for your constructive criticism (in hindsight I agree about the beat in the car). If you are willing, are you happy to go leave an honest review on IMDB? It seems the "hostile critics" (of which aren't that mean 964 vs 40 downvotes) are the ones who run off to IMDB to complain.
So glad you guys decided to cut the scene where Olly first goes to the toilet in his new Gerry body & cries out "Where is it? My God, they've turned me into an action man!!" That could definitely have given people nightmares 😱
Nice premise, and I enjoyed it, though I do think they could have had an orientation for the wife and the clone, but then we wouldn't have the "you don't smell right" drama moment. All in all, a different type of story for sure.
Scenario: The husband has been through a traumatic death and back again and now in a different, though younger body tries to cuddle with his wife in bed as he is also getting used to himself in his new body. Wife, who un-snuggles away from husband: "I'm sorry....you don't smell right", and turns away. If that wasn't a picture perfect expression on his face, I don't know what was. That was definitely the best "wtf" face I have ever seen.
Excellent. Great concept. The thing I found most disturbing was the notion that an entire life with its cumulative memories and experiences could be overwritten and in his monomaniacal self-obsession, Oliver didn’t give a flying fig about poor old Mr Worth ceasing to exist.
@@raymondo162 tired of my current life for years, only 22 i am now, would be better for me to wake up with the same face shape but full head of hair, blue eyes, fitter body, bigger d*,more stamina, more iq, would not?
Great movie. I know if the movie were about me, it wouldn't have demonstrated all the concepts the film needed to show, but if that were me and my original was looking after my family for me, I think I'd just enjoy my freedom, and maybe offer to help out every month or so. Slip myself some cash for being a good father and such.
That's truly an bizarre concept. That your consciousness can be downloaded into a new Clone body. In essence virtual immortality. But, is that same individual or genetic copy? Think of the ethical and social issues. And of course, only that one percent will be able to afford it.
Amazing series / movie, thank you for sharing! Great acting and plot. I've missed a bit of showing what happened with Gavin, although I guess things went as planned..otherwise there would be a cut that shows the guy waking up and having some memories of Mr. Klein :D Camera work, angles, coloring, mood, music, sound effects: all top and lets the watcher immerse in the experience!
Well done. So, why did the boss pay the nurse to change the bodies? It was 10k to do it, but then they had 'real' Oliver and 'fake' Oliver both running around. They didn't go to 'fake' Oliver with any kind of job or deal or anything? I don't see the point.
I love science fiction, especially reading it. Stephen king however is the true master of short stories.. The challenge being that every word must count, you can't afford any waste whatsoever. Stephen has wrote many long books, but when push comes to shove its the invariably constraints that a short story provides he truly loves. I imagine it's the same in movies , most being 90-120 minutes long. But something like the twilight zone, you had 30 ish minutes to condense a movie or story to its bare bones. I've read many trilogy's and more and love them all but the true art is in creating more in less words.
Let me get this straight, Oliver Klein has his original consciousness switched into a different body, Gavin Worth. Worth kills the original body of Klein. The company downloaded backup copy of Klein's memories and personality into new cloned body? It's totally weirdest thing ever conceived.
Why did the Gavin Worth version think that merging himself would save his current consciousness? The beginning denoted that he would only copy himself and the self that provided the copy would remain in the same body or be gone. He must have understood that.
Good film as a PSA not to mess around with the mind. Big plot hole: Gavin Worth's body begins to explain the problem at 20:57 = "Emma fucked up." So he knows he is in the wrong body.
That was absolutely a masterful shot of the "Jerry" putting the glasses on and seeing a blurry face in the mirror and his actually head in focus. Bravo to all of the crew that produced that masterful shot.

As much as I love these films, I'd have to agree. That part didn't make sense to me at all
It’s a showcase of human survival instinct. He doesn’t want to simply cease to exist.
He was ok with everything thing else about being Gavin except when he attempted to pee sitting down.
Wow! Fantastic. I can’t get over how great these short movies are. Thanks Australia!
