Thanks so much for this interview with Luke’s mother. Our son, also named Luke has high and complex needs, both medical and multiple disabilities, is 21 and still living at home. This interview has encouraged me to keep hope in advocating for our Luke and to keep insisting on person centred care for Luke. I fear a similar journey of neglect and abuse for our Luke when we pass on. We’re both in our late 60’s, living in Melbourne Australia and hope to build a team like this around our son. We have suffered many of these structural problems with providers but have always had control because our Luke still resides with us.
Thank-you to Shropshire Intensive Support Team for all you’ve done to protect Luke’s dignity, humanity and agency and for supporting Luke’s family so well.
We remain hopeful that our Luke will have similar support when he gains his independence from us.
    Many blessings to you all!
Kind regards to Luke, to his mum, dad and family.
