- Round out your sneak peek into the Frick’s second floor in our latest behind-the-scenes video! Live from the renovation site, Xavier F. Salomon, Deputy Director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator, explores three new galleries: the medals room, the gold-ground paintings room, and the Walnut Room. Originally domestic spaces of the Frick family and later staff spaces, all of these rooms will-for the first time-be open to the public and showcase important small-scale paintings and sculptures. We are so excited to welcome you upstairs to enjoy these galleries and the new old home they will provide for works in our collection.

What a delight!
Years ago when I was in graduate school I went to the Frick to access their library for my masters thesis. I submitted an application for a library card at the front desk but it was handed back to me, and I was asked to change Ms. to Miss. The librarian told me that Miss Frick, who lived on the second floor, personally reviewed every application, and she disapproved of the use of Ms. I changed it to Miss.😊
It looks as though it will be wonderful. The Frick was one the the things that kept me going during the pandemic, and I hope that one day I’ll be able to travel to New York and visit it.
Very much looking forward to finally being able to go upstairs and to see artwork in new/old surroundings.
I can’t wait until all of the renovation is complete and we get to see these wonderful works and all of the new spaces. Thank you for all of your hard work!

When do you think it will be open?
Well, Frick Madison is closed now so what are we supposed to do in the meantime? When will Frick 1.0 reopen?
Oh my oh my, checking this all out, and I sure hope this gentleman guiding the tour has some kind of investment, beyond interest or fascination, that entitles him to this position. I would kill for this job, and I want him to qualify himself, I do not think that he is the right person, I am more suited. Me. They want me to be there.
