    When it comes to most products from the U.S., the front of the bottle is written by the marketing team and the back of the bottle is written by the lawyers.

    I recently purchased some Brake Buster here in Australia. I use it with the IK Foamer 2 and find it to be fantastic when used at 1:5. I wash my vehicles weekly and just use an iron remover once a month or so. Brake Buster offers a very good value (works well, good price) and using it with the Foamer is quick and easy. Win/Win/Win as far as I'm concerned.

    This product has been my go to tire/wheel cleaner since I first tried it months ago, although I have plenty of Auto-Fanatic foaming wheel cleaner as well, so it's also in the mix.
    My mix is 3:1 but I really need to go back up to 5 1 to stretch out the value as I clean my wheels atleast once a week. Btw I'm using the orange tip in both my IK Foam Pro2 and the IK 1.5.
    Keep up the good work John🇺🇸👍

      Ive used the autofanatic wheel cleaner which is great!! But nd heres a big but... the cost of it is way to much for way u get 49 dollas plus shipping is just out of hand!! P/s is 16bucks for a gallon and u can dilute 5/1 so thats 5 gallons for 16 dollars i mean the choice is pretty clear!!! And it sucks cuz i like phil from autofan.. but i gotta look out for my pocket!!!

    Love the review, the best thing about it is no more rusting brake discs. It’s such a good degreaser that it’s one product for arches, tyres and wheels. I even use it on bumper bugs if I’m in a hurry. Cheers Jon.

      Yes, it’s a rust inhibitor which disappears when you brake for the first time. It’s significantly better than a whee cleaner without that additive

    Hey John - I believe you have the best auto detail channel on TH-cam - Very intelligently done! I understand this is an older video... Hopefully someone or yourself can answer how one cleans their expensive brushes with caked on black break dust, and everything else that one cleans off dirty wheels - I've used the actual cleaner foam from Eagle one, Dawn dish soap and a mixture of microfiber cleaner with a laundry detergent and I'm seemingly making very slow progress if at all.. Much appreciated and again, excellent videos sir !!!!

    Great review!!! P&S was the first place I went for detailing supplies almost 20 years ago (I think it was their only retail store in the US at the time) I always got great advice and Carl was always willing to point me in the right direction. Hell, I remember doing a speech on detailing for a college class and asked if he could find me some Carnuba to pass around. Next thing I know I'm rocking a bottle of carnauba flake (I think I still have it kicking around somewhere :) ).

    This is a great product for the price. I buy it by the gallon and it only cost me $20 for the gallon. Yep we call them Rotors and you did in the video also so you are just as crazy as us! 😜 Great breakdown of the product! I have noticed that the rust inhibitors can leave the sidewalks of the tires a little chalky looking.

    After trying and working with several of these non-acidic wheel cleaners, I can say that fallout removers are still a way to go. Cleaners such as this one, Chemical Guys Signature, Diablo, etc. are never gonna clean the wheel the way fallout remover does, plus you're going to spend hell of a more time cleaning and brushing the wheels and sometimes I just don't feel like spending an hour on the wheels because I've got a whole car to get to, and quite a bit of work planned on the paint. I don't know, sometimes, if the wheel is somewhat dirty, I'd use it, for any medium to heavy contamination, iron/fallout remover is much better option in my opinion.

      @beau2047 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @kotomakosako
      @kotomakosako 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James O'Brien Hi there. All valid points, indeed and I agree with majority of them. However, I didn't say I enjoy working with iron removers, it's just that to me, are far more effective in getting the job done. Now, I hate them. I hate the smell (always have to work outdoors and "down the wind" sort of saying), hate that I have to wear quality protection (gloves) which does convey that you're dealing with harsh chemicals. How harsh? Nobody can tell for sure. Maybe we're exaggerating, maybe they're no more harmful than bleach people die their hair with, but you gotta do these things to be on the safe side. I've researched a lot and the only product that does a great job at cleaning the wheel and it's nice to work with is Auto Fanatic's wheel foam, but that's hard to come by, at least in Europe. I don't think it's even being sold here. Long story short, I haven't tried the break buster (waiting for P&S as well to distribute their products outside of UK), but from the video, I could see how much effort Jon is putting in to clean those wheels and it's the same story every non-acid wheel cleaner. You're going to spend an hour, easy, and you have to have a wheel bucket with soap, several brushes, which makes the car cleaning process longer and messier. Half of the time, I'm not up to that. Can't be bothered staying an hour or more doing wheels only. Iron remover helps you get it done quicker. By the way, rims do look shinier when done with iron remover than with non-acid cleaner. To me at least.

    • @phasmata3813
      @phasmata3813 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James O'Brien Instead of being speculatively afraid of iron removers' impacts, take some time to learn about them. A lot of your safety and environmental concerns will disappear when you consider the relatively minuscule amounts of sodium thiosulfate (the active ingredient in all iron removers) being used. You can still feel as you do about the practicalities of working with them, but these products aren't unsafe for you or for the environment in the tiny amounts and concentrations we're using them in, and I say this as a very passionate environmentalist. In any case, if you're concerned about your exposure, wear some glasses, gloves, and a mask. Just because a different wheel cleaner doesn't have sodium thiosulfate in it doesn't mean it's any better to have unnecessary exposure to it when reducing your risks is as simple as throwing some PPE on, and I say THIS as a professional mobile auto detailer who has a lot of exposure to detailing chemicals.

    • @phasmata3813
      @phasmata3813 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James O'Brien Please share with me what your doctors have said about your exposure to sodium thiosulfate (or perhaps some other product in your arsenal is [also] to blame?), what effects it has had on you, and what practices lead you to a level capable of those effects. Please cite a source implicating the proper use of sodium thiosulfate in detailing in environmental damage (industrial levels can be very harmful but are an entirely different and unrelated issue). I'm always looking out for long-term dangers especially since this industry caters toward casual enthusiasts far more than professionals who are using these products every day. I simply have not found any information to suggest that modern iron removers (sodium thiosulfate; maybe you've used some other chemical in your 30 years? I've only been doing this for about 16) are dangerous.

    Its hard for an imported product to be a. close price as the country of manufacturing as the importing country has to pay transport, import taxes, VAT and still try to make some profit out of it.
    Thats the thing with detailing products in Portugal (my country). You pay many times double or triple of the price here in the UK for example. And if you live in the islands (Azores, Madeira, Porto Santo...then its even more expensive as you have postage on top of that)
    Jon, do you ever heard about K2 car care products? They are a polish brand. They seem to be quite good. I just bought a paste wax from them and I cant wait to try it out. The smell is unbelievable. Makes you want to eat it. Lol

      For nonacid, agitation free, spray and rinse cleaning power use, I'd give the nod to the Adam's.. I can touch free clean light to moderately dirty coated wheels with it at 3:1.
      I use it at 5:1 paired with agitation. But I generally use other products for agitation cleaning, mostly Break Buster, mainly because it's rust inhibitors actually work well.
      Touchless cleaning is really the main cleaning power gauge in my view. Once you add agitation, any moderate quality cleaner is going to perform well.
      Most dirty tires are going to need agitation, hard to do away with that, though some of the newer rubber "coating" type dressings are getting us closer and closer.. 👍👌✌

      well you have to be careful. So "acids" will break down solid brake matter and soot the most. So the much maligned wonder wheels can be used to great effect. But strong acids can damage bare chrome or anodised finished etc... so its cleaning without damaging.
      My recomendation is fallout remover generally as an agressive but safe way to clean wheels .. get "autowheels fromme bilt Hamber spray on agititate it. get a stubby atlasta brush as well from bonnymans to really poke and the soot/embedded brake dust.

    Hey there mate. Let my share my opinion. We do not need to use the most powerful cleaning products. I think we should be looking for the least aggressive ones that work. For the rims and maintenance washes I am using the car shampoo and dedicated mitt. As a prespray there is a superb product probably not available in Kingdom. Exceeded Ultimate Wheel Cleaner. Just went through a bottle and I am yet to try to simplify my toolset. Koch Greenstar 1:20 as a prespray. What do you think? We are talking weekly or every second week wash of properly maintained car with waxed alloys. For the special cases, for the neglected nightmares, then power is a factor and answer is acid & ph 10+ products. Not for my daily ;)

    At what point does paying $60 for 5 liters of Bilt Hamber outweigh $20 for 5 liters of Brake Buster. It's takes me far more product and time to clean rims with BB than with BH. Three full sprays of BH for the face of a rim versus multiple sprays of BB to clean a rim. Love the price at $20 per gallon, but the results just don't hold up. Plus, BH is an active cleaner vs the non-active BB.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not sure what you mean by bilt hamber chip. If your talking about autowheels though its a fallout remover. If your talking about surfex its 17 quid for 5 litres here and 10:1 is good for wheels.
      BH autowheels is a lot more powerfull. you could use auto wheels on baked on horrible condition dirty alloys. ITs areally powerfull
      However autwheels (and any FR) will like up your brake disks and promote oxidisation.
      It depends what your after but BB is popular I think with guys just looking for a milder product on well maintained alloys.

    • @UKBIGBLUENATION1
      @UKBIGBLUENATION1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ForensicDetailing... Yes sir. I'm talking about BH Auto. When I have to clean a set of rims twice with BB when I know once with BH would handle the job, then I start questioning when the dollars spent versus the time saved overlap each other. BB is a decent product but it doesn't compare to what I've seen from BH.
      The problem is obviously cost and availability of BH vs BB. Trying to determine when the time saved outweighs the additional cost.

    I don’t understand non acid wheel cleaners that aren’t bleeders. If I can’t use acid then car soap works just fine. They all require agitation so why buy special cleaners that aren’t acid

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      quite simple really. car soap have virtually no cut, specially PH neutral so yes its very very mild. A high alkaline can degrease much better typically, or more powerfull surfactants can aid the break down of the grime layer. A dedicated wheel cleaner will also contain some sodium based components which are slightley caustic and these will attack the solid brake dust partifules more. Its hard to notice the difference of the chemistry or a shampoo and a alkaline unless you test on consistent dirt.. but theres a bit diff.. I can demo this on my dirt simulator
      but yes mate if you keep on top of alloys then you can wash them with a soap/shampoo for sure I do this as well.

    Would be really nice if we could get stuff as good as brake buster as cheap as the Americans get it but here in UK. I don't know of many (or any!) products where we here get the benefit of the lower price? Is there a UK equivalent of brake buster, I'm not sure there is.

      Uk is the king of cheap chems if you want cheap chems. Just watch my bargain haul video recently. you can buy direct from suppliers here. But I most people like prefer to pay a bit more. but a cheap wheel cleaner I use is surfex HD 17 quid for 5 litres and 10:1 concentrate. but if you are like me you will by and try other stuff.

      @@ForensicDetailing Is it really I didn't know that.
      I don't mind paying a bit more and yes i like trying new things but it all seems to be American thats all, would be nice to find equivalent products that the UK makes, maybe they aren't as popular here or advertised over the internet as much?
      If I log onto TH-cam I just see videos from American youtubers as they seem to dominate the detailing space online and they endlessly rave on about brake buster, beadmaker, adams, etc etc list goes on. and they seem to get them for dirt cheap prices and in big quantities. Would I be right in thinking we don't have equivalent big name products like those for us (e.g. do we have an equivalent ready to use wheel cleaner that would go up against brake buster) or maybe I'm living under a rock haha :)
      I also wonder if these american products have a 'bling' factor with them, loads of foam with a focus on good user experience whereas our cheap chemicals do the job but are no nonsense in terms of presentation and use?
