Good job mate! This will come in handy as I just started a project car- the more I watched the show I suddenly had a brain switch, the flames suddenly flipped and the flames reversed into swimming sperm- look for yourselves! Problem is I now have to keep flipping my brain as it wanders to the “other side” now haha!
Amazing tutorial, your directions are so detailed and thorough. Can't wait to watch more videos to learn from you. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Hello sam. I love this video as i was looking for ways to make 3d leather wall panel. Im not sure if leather sculpting is something that is required in your field of work. If it is or if you have a know how how ro do it. Could i please request you to make a video on that. Im really interested in helen murreys leather sculptures. But novody ever does a tutorial on how to do it. Can you help?
I’d like to see a video showing different methods of attaching this panel, or similar panels. I know the panel clips are common. Some guys will use Velcro. But attaching the clips or Velcro correctly so they function as they should is just as important
Hi mate , have you used or much experience with polished flexible moulding to stick on as a detail ? Anything you can recommend? Thanks for the great tutorial
Great video. I've done some projects like this in the past and you explained it nicely. Question, why do you have the actual flame portion displayed as recessed instead of the image protruding? I would think it may portray flames more accurately as the portion that is above the surface. Thoughts?
Great video! Can you share links or a shop where you get your 3mm foam from on a roll as I’m only finding smaller pre cut stuff. Also, what do you clean your spray gun out with after putting glue through it? Any tips for rounded corners on door trims, I’m still getting some overhang.
When I’m using my spray gun regularly I won’t need to clean it often only when it’s spray gets messy but if I’m not going to be using it for a while I will clean it out.
With your corners too often need to take notches out of your material where it wraps around to remove excess but careful not to take too much where it seen in the job a bit of heat can also help here
Hey great video! Have a question or should I say an issue. I am using Allsport 4 way stretch vinyl for a console I built for my car. I am using the Dap Weldwood Contact Adhesive Landau Normal I am using a brush to apply it. I put 1 coat on the vinyl and on my console. I wait about 20 minutes and then I start putting the vinyl on my console. Everything goes well no issues. I wait about a week and then I pull my car out into a sunny hot day and then the vinyl just starts to come off! Only where the sun hits it and gets hot. What did I do wrong?
Some contact adhesives are not rated to handle heat or direct sunlight this is an issue I haven’t faced for a while, my suppliers have not sold standard contact adhesive for years because similar issues and I only use the heat resistant contact glue. I’m not familiar with the brand of contact adhesive you’re using. This may be part of the issue but I would also recommend putting a second coat of glue on both surfaces the first coat is usually pretty good at soaking into the materials it’s applied to but ideally needs a second coat for maximum strength. I like to think of the first coat as a primer coat and the second coat allows both surfaces to bond to each other. I hope this helps 👍
@@SamsProjectBench hey thanks for that information. I am trying a sample piece with a second coat. Which brand do you use? Do you have a link where I could buy it?

Sam, Thanks so much for your informative video! I'll be looking forward to learning more from you! You have an easy way about you, and bring condensed information at the same time... a great combination. I have a question ... The vinyl I have found has a "fabric" backer, which I think will limit ti's ability to stretch in the way that is needed for this application..Does the vinyl you use have no backer, or maybe a "non-woven" backer??? Any info would be very helpful, and thanks again for your super informative videos...!
Hi bill thank you for watching the video I’m very happy you found value in it. The vinyl I use has a thin knitted backing I have used some vinyl with a thicker fabric backing it can be a bit more restrictive and seams to soften edges so may require some experimentation to see how it will respond. The thicker backing is a good option when the surface your working on is not perfect as the fabric backing is good for hiding minor imperfections hope this helps👍

This can be done with leather it’s probably a little easier with vinyl. With leather you just need to be aware of scars and defects on the back as that will show through when glueing to a hard surface. This can be mitigated by adding a thin layer of foam to the base board Hope this helps
