    Awesome boat. I'm thinking about building one my self. Get the materials from Pierce aluminum I was gonna make a 1648. How long did this haul take ? (Hours) I'm looking to save money and I'd think it would be awesome making my own money, but from the looks of it it looks like a lot of work 🤣 and the money you spent was probably around at least 6-8k? Idk

      @JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You will have that in the materials for sure. It’s an incredible feeling to build something yourself that rivals the best boat builders out there. You could probably buy a cookie cutter boat off the lot just as cheap but if you take the time, you can have something as nice as a prodigy for about 1/3 of the price. BUT with your name on it. I have another build video coming soon of one I just completed that’s an 1856 and I had around 130 hours in it.

    Nice work but that motor is way to heavy for that boat. 12:34 the bow isnt even in the water. The bow lights point at the clouds.

      It has a Yamaha 60 on it now, but I never had any issues with this one, it was just a lot of motor to handle altogether with a tiller.

      If you are just going to build a basic boat that floats, then you are better off buying one… you still can do it cheaper but the time and effort lose some value. Now if you are going to build something similar to the best custom boats on the market, with things done exactly how you want them, extra touches of comfort and toughness, then yes, you are definitely better to build it yourself. On top of saving money, it’s fun to have something you built yourself. Ill just say, I saved about 75% by building this myself versus buying a prodigy or timber creek or similar. Those are some of the best and high prices for a reason. I know this is long, but if you are planning on putting that kind of effort and have those skills… BUILD it man and have fun doing it.

      The price swings all of the time so my price won’t do you much good. I can give you a list of materials and you can call your supplier to get a quote and you will know real time what it will cost. Don’t forget to factor in wire, gas, and other consumables as well as your time. If it’s done right there will be a lot of time invested in it.

      It’s a Miller multimatic 215 with 150 amp spoolgun. 100 percent argon and it can do 220 or 110 but it runs much better on 220. Mig Aluminum is different than steel but not that much different. If you can mig steel you can mig aluminum. I say go for it!

With that 75 it sits at water level, which isn’t a problem, just preference. Although I originally didn’t plan on a 75 but I couldn’t pass up the deal I found on it.

    Love the rig! Been running aluminum tunnel hulls for the last 10+ years because I thought I needed to git as skinny as possible while on plane. Truth is, I just don't wanna run that skinny any more. Have you checked the draft on the beautiful girl at rest? And the killer question.......... Have you seen how skinny she'll run?
    I'm guessing that while that 75 is FUN on the back of that rig, the weight savings from 50~60 would be most welcome.

    • @JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
      @JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      at rest the back of the hull drafts about 8-9 inches. i have run in some really skinny water in the marsh in louisiana trying to beat the low tide with a load of gear, guessing 4-5 inches but its soft muddy bottom lets you run the keg through it, you know. i would feel comfortable running in a foot of water all day. and yes, as soon as duck season is over i am going to be listing this to trade for a 50 or 60. its nice to have the power but i want some weight savings as well... and my kids will be driving this soon enough and its scary fast. i usually run it around half throttle...

      @@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms Man! I'm kinda partial to the old Yamaha 2 strokes. Pound for pound, there still isn't a lighter 2 stroke out there. Currently running a 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke on my aluminum 16' Scandy White Open Pro tunnel. She'll run on plane in just shy of 3" of water, but again, I just don't run her like that any more. She drafts and gets up in 6" of water. I'll be swapping her out for a conventional hulled aluminum boat here in the near future.

    • @JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
      @JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Texcajun06 nice. I think I can get mine to draft in 5-6 with a lighter motor. The tohatsu is one of the heaviest 75 4 strokes out there. The Yamaha 70 4 stroke is almost 100 pounds lighter. I hope to get a Yamaha 50 or a tohatsu 60. They are like a busted drum- hard to beat.
