I don't know where I am going wrong but I can not get the Desktop Interface to launch. After the reboor it just goes back to the command log in screen...
It is very strange... I did the exact steps and after it rebooted, I didn't have the desktop environment. I came back to the starting point. How is this possible?

Hi Tony, really had to say something... this is an outstanding video, visual, informative and huge help, absolutely love it. Just one question; would I be able to stream more than one livestream on this? or do I need to purchase a separate one for each video livestream? Oh, second question, lol, if I am dropping many videos for the loop, at which point do I need an upgrade? Will the SSD be ok for videos and audio? Thanks 😀
Good question! Have you now setup a 24/7 stream?
You could use the Multiple RTMP outputs plugin for OBS to stream to have multiple streams running at once from the one computer.
Thanks for the video! Question: at the end of this video, how were you monitoring how much data had been sent? Was that another app you installed or is that already part of the GUI?

I solved the problem by sending an e-mail to contado support about this issue, but I closed it after a month because I was not satisfied.

Followed the steps and using same Contabo - after reboot I dont get the ubuntu login as per video. Any suggestions?

I've done all the steps by the book and the moment I 'reboot', the VNC viewer doesn't load the GUI for Ubuntu. Puts me again on cursor login 🤷🏻♂️😅 I have no idea how to proceed (other than contacting Contabo Support ofc). Any tips?

@@pogdressing I asked for the help of an IT friend, who logged in and sorted it out. I honestly have no idea what he did. From what I understood he used specific repositories.

I'm having issues installing the desktop. Each time after rebooting and putting in my "root" login it takes me back to the beginning. I waited a long period of time for the desktop install to complete but it doesn't. Any help please?

After two days I finally got this to work. Took setting up to transfer computer files to the vps but once done it was a breeze. I have learned a lot doing this and its just the beginning thank you Tony..

can I set up next cloud or any good cheap cloud with a server like Ubuntu or ant media to run a low cost 24/7 streaming of my old videos to my TH-cam channel. This is the next big thing for TH-cam... do this and include additional good price webhosting with a decent free trial offer and it will be gold.

I recently selected this exact package from Contabo and ran everything exactly as instructed in this video, however the GUI will not load after a reboot. I created another user account other than root to see if it would load, I used both UltraVNC and TightVNC but nothing works.

Sir, you have since paid the contabo, why don't you make a video of using the contabo servers for mining, some videos are available but that are too complex, can you try this and make a good video, if not, at least that will be experience for you as well as for us too, please make a video on this how to use contabo servers for mining small coins, they also provide us some options for mining too.

I'm a Linux newbie, however I spend hours messing around Contabo to find a solution to get the GUI running. I can't find any solution for Ubuntu 20, but I was able to get the GUI running for Ubuntu 18.04. Once I logged into the 18.04 GUI I upgraded to 20.04 to see if the GUI would load, unfortunately it did not. I just got a black screen with a blinking cursor.
Boot into recovery mode and update the grub. I had the same issue this sorted it for me

@@rokiplay Been a minute since I got mine up and running, but I do remember that I had to contact Contabo customer service for them to manually implement a setting on the server that would allow Ubuntu 20 to run. There was nothing we can do for it, they had to personally turn on a setting.
Hey, maybe you know why after installing ubuntu it starts only in text mode? I can only get into safe mode

@@Finishstronger but i stopped using 7$ vnc server coz the performance is verrry bad.. couldn't even stream 720p at more than 12 fps... I guess u can only stream images with music.
at 6:56 u typed reboot when i did that it didn't show the login only the cmd login

Hi Tony, thanks for the great tutorial. I followed you step by step. However, ubunto desktop is not showing up after tasksel installation. I chose ubuntu desktop. then it installed. Rebooted but the envionment is not loading up. Help please.

I installed windows server instead but I refunded the service because my intention was to create a 24/7 hours live channel based on the service but the bandwidth was not good and there was a lot of stuttering. Thanks for help anyway.@@Nightowlchemy

Hello. I ordered an NVMe VPS S server and set it exactly as in Ubuntu video. I know NVMe needs to run faster than normal ssd. when I enter remotely, the operating system moves very very slowly. I also put OBS streaming and it has buffering every 2 seconds. I don't know what the problem is, but this service from Contabo is not what I need. is very difficult. I paid quite a lot. no one answers me for support. it's not fair.
I have the same problme, Contabo seems limits something after a week of streaming, and I no longer can use it

How to share publish video with IPTVs and on your website ? We are community tv station. We are sending our video stream at 2mb quality to a server. which is costing us a lot. The streaming is then picked up IPTV for distribution. also the we get a link from server company to publish the stream on your website.
Do you have to install the ubuntu desktop with this? We would love to do this but dont really need a desktop environment on our webserver

I did everything as you described but it doesn't show a green dot like yours that the stream is good, it shows yellow after about 10 seconds and it stays like that the whole time :(

Also, when access to the server is interrupted, the crash screen becomes active. Do you know how I can cancel it or how I can broadcast it live on TH-cam without the screen crashing on the server?

It probably best to just pay for the Windows Server OS. It's just easier.

hey, i downloaded the vnc viewer and get everything right in. But i always get an time error for the connection? is there something you have to change in the settings from the vnc viewer? Also my viewer looks different then the one in the video.. would be great if someone could help me

Has anybody been able to use this video and actually get this working ? I have spent the last 8 hours watching and doing and re-doing these steps cantabo- but as soon as I reboot, I am back to the black login screen. Anybody has had this problem and perhaps a solution ? So i ran it through screen share the app on apple. I installed the regular ubuntu desktop. rebooted the system but i didnt get the graphical log in. Is this because i ran it through this app? or could there be any other issue?

Also can you speak to the 1280x720 limitation that OBS hit; Assuming this limits the YT stream to 720p, and would any of the Contabo packages be better suited to 1080p or would this require a GPU ?
