    I've always wondered if maybe British English is easier to learn? The vowel sounds are usually much more relaxed in terms of mouth movements. "Girl" for example.

    • @rachelsenglish
      @rachelsenglish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would make sense to me, actually! The R alone is much easier, I would think, in British English.

Just goes to show how amazingly different languages can be because this is honestly a word that basically NO native speaker would ever guess would be one that people would struggle with. Rachel, i have more than 20 years learning and improving my english, and up until now I have been struggling pronouncing these two words: Girl, Murder, Murderer. Combining RL, DeR is challenging. Saying Girl sounded like I was drowning, the tip of the tongue was so curled up so when changing to the Dark L, the tip of my tongue flapped making the flap T sound to change to the Dark L. 20 years... until NOW. I finally understood my BIG mistake, I was making too much effort curling the tongue up, It needed to be way more relaxed so the transition to the Dark L is smooth. I want to cry :'( I finally made a perfect Girl pronunciation. It took me an hour to finally make my brain control my tongue correctly. THANK YOU RACHEL. You explanations are honestly THE BEST. Please make a video with MURDER and MURDERER pronunciation. A BIG BEAR HUG.

    actually,i can't thank you enough rachel since my pronunciation is getting better.
    i'm in my fouth stage at university in Iraq.My colleagues are astonished how I sound like an American native speaker.
    I told them"It is not me.It is my aunt rachel who has tought me to improve my pronunciation"
    But i'm wondering why some American speakers pronounce the letter "t" in some words like "certain" as /d/sound while others don't.
    Even in the word "sentence",it seems that they do not pronouce it.

    Hello Rachel! You speek beautifully!! May you please make a video or give me a tip how to say the words; water, sugar, word, court, curl. I have a hard time when the R is at the end or close to it. It is easy to roll the word together like break. And Should the tongue flip up when one curls it or down. I have heard that the tongue should move back and I have also heard that the tongue should be placed in the midde going up. My R feels like its so dull or empty. I hope you can get back to me.
