Haley and Steven Tyler had a good rapport on AI. He was the only judge rooting for Haley. Actually Haley opened for Steven in at least one of his shows.
although before my time, "house of the rising sun" by the animals is one of my all time favorites. the vocals and band are superb and the styling, colors, etc represent that time period so well and remind me of the culture that followed from bob dylan, the carpenters to tv shows like the partridge family, brady bunch, etc. haley reinhart does an amazing job of capturing all the deep soul of original while reinterpreting in very different slowed down way... the a capella intro was genius. although fairly new to haley myself (~3yrs now), i have been blown away just how good she is. her silk to sandpaper voice is truly stunning not to mention the character and emotion that she puts into the performances. her raw authenticity is so refreshing in our current world of overproduced surface material. i am not really fan of talent shows like AI ether but have gone back and watched all of her performances... in addition to this she sings a variety of classics from led zepplin and even leann rimes where she even yodals.
