In the style of Seuss for the last twenty minutes I’ve heard of the fears that linger within us And while this tale brimmed with things dark and vile I find myself speaking in this rhyming style

It’s like an Eldritch Location rather than an Eldritch Abomination! All “cosmic horror”, of course, but people don’t often think of spaces as being the source of “madness”-I should know lol, I’m living in one & it just now occurred to me that I’ve truly lost it hahaha
I find myself immersed with both humor, surprise and delight, At the sound of narration spoken for fright. Our storyteller, from their deliverance who could guess them, For in their recital rings similar to Casey Kasem!
This is great! It reminds me of something I heard on the radio once, an account of correspondence between Gregor Samsa (of Kafka's Metamorphosis) and an entomologist, in the style of Dr Seuss..
Checkout my review of R.Sikoryak's Masterpiece comics; he does Kafka's Metamorphosis in the style of Peanuts with Charlie Brown th-cam.com/video/RoBCGXr3uQA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Gb_Tb-Iy6tGmciSB
Very nice, I have both the Cthulhu and Dagon books, I'll have to look into getting one of these too. TH-cam recomended this read along.. I guess TH-cam knows what I like... scarry.
Yeah he's done Call of Cthulhu and Dagon. You can see them in the review video I did and the link to buy them all is in the description th-cam.com/video/gd5W1V5CaME/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-wVS9HVVQiwe8eu7
This reminds me of the book "My First Kafka". It's exactly what the title implies: some of Kafka's stories with children's illustrations. I don't think that book is quite suitable for children. But I imagine they'll like this.
That sounds familiar. If you like that you'd probably enjoy Masterpiece Comics by R. Sikoryak. He does Kafka as Charlie Brown, Dantes Inferno as Bazooka Joe Comics, it's great! I reviewed it a week ago th-cam.com/video/RoBCGXr3uQA/w-d-xo.html
Very entertaining. But what does it teach? "Antarctica may seem to be a frozen inferno, but if you really want to catch a glimpse of Hell with the lid off, you have to go to America." --Aleister Crowley
A far better Adaptation than 'The Color Out Of Space' Film! (Any of them!) This would make a great companion piece with my H.P. Lovecraft themed Pop-Up Book!
I'll probably read it to my kid too. I mainly just didn't want TH-cam to categorize this as "for kids" content. I watched Alien with my mom when I was 6.
I've listened to HorrorBabble's audio production of the original at least a dozen times :) If you don't know them, you should definitely check their stuff out; a whoooole lot of Cthulu mythos, all read masterfully.
The website has an FAQ about it. Basically their take is that Lovecraft is in the public domain and they don't actually use or directly reference any of Dr.Seuss' characters or creations. I included "Dr.Seuss" on the video thumbnail and title for viewers to find it, but the book never mentions him. As for the text, it's written in anapestic tetrameter which Seuss himself claimed to lift from The Night Before Christmas which is public domain (not that you can copyright a common meter)
I totally responded to this, but for some reason I can't see it so I'll give you the short version: Chaosium Inc the publisher has an FAQ about it. Seems like it's legal!
You know I'd like to like this, if I thought Fred Rogers would have liked this being made. But I don't think he would, so I can't bring myself to like it.
One correction of the book. The Elder Thing's cities were socialistic, not anarchistic. Of course, we in the capitalist west are taught never to give a positive reference to the socialist idea (Yes, the Elder Things being socialistic is a positive socialist reference). The book is filled with respect for the Elder Thing's civilization. No where in the book is the word "anarchism" or "anarchistic", but "socialistic" is clearly spelt, yet we can't transcribe it? Americans may not like it, but the Elder Things made socialism work. Like the Chinese these days. Many Americans saw the good in the socialist idea until the violence of the McCarthy Red Scare Purges. :)
Maybe you're talking about the original story, but I don't think Ivankovic refers to the Elder Thing's society as "anarchistic" relating to social anarchy... He calls it "Antarctic" as in located on the continent of Antarctica.

I think they have a topical ointment for that now
@@LittleCozyNostril Yes, but that ointment is applied at the temples and elsewhere merely as a conductor for electroshock therapy.
what a glorious combination of two things i love ! well done the author and to you mr . nostril for the rhythmic reading .

They missed a good opportunity to illustrate the city to look more Seussian, like an ancient Stygian Who-ville. Cthu-Whos!
LOL tbh...I think Seussian can best describe Lovecraftian architecture.

I liked At the Mountains of Madness. And Dr. Seuss had some wild art. If anything, the art done "in the style of Dr. Suess" isn't quite wild enough!
