I hate how there is US spec and everybody else in the world spec. made by manufacturers…lol! Like I wish Milwaukee would make black PackOut boxes for the US like for everyone! How crazy it is that the plastic boxes are so expensive!! It’s great that Makita is finally waking up to updating for the US! Great video Tools!!
I remember when an apprentice project was to make a portable toolbox and all the carpenters had custom made toolboxes. Not injection molded plastic made in Israel. I think I’ve outed myself as an old fart.
Yeah, I do not like the red packout boxes. They're kinda gaudy. I also think they stand out to thievery more. At the moment I most prefer systainers, they generally fit the work I do the best, but they're too goddang expensive for what they are.
There's a lot of plastic and standards met by the boxes. They are super spendy but I feel it's worth it. Buy it once and you're good. Buggar will last a very long time. Im team red as I was born into it. They have made my life sooo much easier. Love the organizational options, see through covers, close them if it's raining etc!
Coming to think of it… an LXT charging case like that would be amazing. I DIYd myself a makpac using Shadow Foam with a single charger and a six batteries. Not needing the charger would double the capacity! Also, did I see a massive external charging brick? That better have a proper place somewhere!
Maktrak sounds ok, but I reckon Stakita would have sounded better 🤔 In fact, I propose we nickname it that anyway. 🤭 Great to see it made in the USA. I dont own any storage systems, but have used them and I find drawers are very handy.
With a tool set dominated by 18V Makita, what I wish for is . . . A power center / inverter I can use to power my furnace when a storm knocks out the the electricity.
I really like the mass charger box. Great idea. Wish Milwaukee did something similar with packout and drawer system. Would be asking a lot but it would be sweet if these boxes were temperature controlled.
I have other boxes and have been waiting/hoping Makita makes boxes like what is more common in the US. I'm not excited about that bigger box though. Other brands have something similar that doesn't sell well. I started plumbing in 98 with Milwaukee corded tools and later V28 (junk), M18, and M12. After about 25 years I switched to mostly Makita, some DeWalt, and have been happy with the change.
The boxes seem cool, but from the pictures nothing to get excited about, after using pack out and stuff for a while I realize I only like drawers, and it doesn't look like they did any, also they look like they are very difficult to stack, really like the tough built system
I’m not rough enough with my tools to think the space the Milwaukee packout takes up is worth it. I’m my opinion, they’re too bulky. There’s a lot of protective material on the corners that adds up to a decent amount of space when you start putting a few together. I did makpak for a while but now I’m on festool systainers. They fit tighter in my van and quite frankly look better. Not to mention they come with the tool.
Who invented these fancy boxes? Festo? Well . . . Let me tell you a tale. I went to a “tool day” at a supply house around 2002, where the company rep was proudly showing off his “Systainer.” I thought it was pretty neat - and invited the rep to see my service truck. I showed him how I had done the same exact thing by using various ammo boxes. I pointe out how the cabinets in the sides of the truck were perfectly sized to efficiently store them. I showed my hand truck, modified to help with moving things around and doing my job. He was astonished. “You came up with the same system we did!” He exclaimed. Well, not quite; his had some nice refinements. His boxes latched to each other. He had boxes for the larger tools (SDS Max, anyone?) His “hand truck” was a lot smaller, lighter, and easier to pack about than mine. It’s still a very good idea, though today I base my tool set around cloth bags. I do have a few “Systainer” type boxes - some name brand, some not - and they have their uses. I wouldn’t want my track saw squares in a cloth bag, for example. I worry, though. The plastic containers feel thin and brittle to me; I wonder how they would do in sub-zero weather.
Still can't believe they dont have a simple 40v inverter. Most other brands have them. You plug in your 40v batteries and you have 120v. Not that big inverter that they have, a smaller inverter that you can swap batteries out like the Ryobi inverter.
Glad you now have a dedicated Li Ion storage box after your recent pyrotechnic escapades. The US is not alone. As far as I can tell Makita Australia still only has the DTD172Z as the "best" impact driver - no listing for a DTD173Z yet.
Strange people complaining about lack of 18v Makita. In Canada you can't get XGT in person at any big-box stores at all. Absolutely no XGT on the shelves. You can buy some online and the full range (released for US/CAN) at specialty shops.
I like my Makita stuff, but sometimes their pricing/value is insane. For example their 10", 8' pole saw in the US is $420. The Milwaukee is $250 and the Ego is $300.
At last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! snow blower i was writing them about this snow blower to make gosh they read.yes there is japanese makita site for ideas where you write nicely any tool needed or some idea:Dty makita ty now i can buy them and not think about how to make some makita blower from other tools. btw you may not seen all makita bttery types!! i live in eu near baltic sea. So one cosntruction worker who was constantly working in norway sad there is makita battery for winter!! he sad that battery is for winter as you can drop it in snow, work in minus celsius etc cold conditions. he sad o those batteries they look same as regular makita battery, but than you look more you find snowflkake sighn on battery. can it be insulated somehow? as it holds in cold condiotions, but he saw it on Norway only :)
the outro music is hilarious xd not at all interested in the mactrak plastic box system lol i have packout filled with makita 18v but im actually more looking forward to the tough built system release in the uk. cba to sell my packs so will just have both probably lol
Maktrak is likely exclusive to North America for now, since the new chargers and inverters are all designed for makpak instead. And Europeans/Japanese prefer systainer anyway.
At this point, they're just paying lipservice to the Packout system. Packout is readily available worldwide and a proven product. Makita is again too late to the party and excluding markets; the makpacs are also archaic compared to Tanos T loc boxes.
I was worried they would just go with a systainer variant, I'm happy it looks more robust, as I was having doubts about the survivability of the systainer box with our harsh Canadian winter.
Well lets see another out of touch manufacture make some over prices work boxes. Milwaukee did everyone dirty with the 169-199 drawer units and Toughbuilt , Dewalt, and Flex are to dumb to put a reasonable price on there boxes to compete.
Don't know if I like the Maktrak tilting everything på 90 degrees when you transport it, but will definitely not put my Makita tools in packout boxes. Thats blasfemi.
Thats why i buy Qbrick , Polish system , yeah they admit they copied what was on market, their red HD ones have M8 insert , so you can bolt to those what you want. Qbrick drawer tower is round €200 , i have one of those and one Stanley TSTAK drawer towers, if it says DeWalt it cost more for same product. Also Metabo has had 8 battery charger for long time, aimed more to businesses.
I'll get it just to stop wasting time explaining that no I don't have a Milwaukee whatever in my packout bag, it was the best option at the time, but I'm closing on my first year in trades so I'm lucky to not be heavily invested in any one system yet 😊
usa become 3 world country in my opinion long ago. its simple want to know what country your in look at fuel. Europe has 95 98 as premmium. while use has 93 as premium fuel. which is same as in africa where is very bad fuel. thats why makita ignoring usa as its waste of time. in usa people would simply steal stuff it happens only in 3 world countries like africa and nobody does anything. so makita now sends only old stuff in usa. for australia they already writing 95 same as 98 as premium which is not good as this means economy strugling loosing and buying opower cant make 95 as standart naming which should be. now about battery packs i think all batteries should be stored in fire proof storage away from house. Like rc guys who have fun they have solid state battery so they store them inbarbecue outside

Honestly I'm just starting out in trades, and after a few months I had to get myself the packout backpack to save my one shoulder, as the makita bag was falling apart due to putting to much stuff in it. Now I love that bag and it fit most of my daily tools, all Makita XGT, and the number of time I had to tell other trades that no i dont have a spare Milwaukee whatever... Just the bag because well Makita doesn't have any good option. That might total to over 2 hours... Same thing if i ever need my circulat saw wich is in T-stack box as it happened to be on sale when i got my saw.... Again no I dont have a dewalt whatever it's just the box, jeez guys. I might just wait to see if I get the MakTrack system since I'm not really invested in any one system yet.... And to cut down on that waste of time since peoples can't seams to understand a box is just a box, if it has one of the Big Brand Name on it 😅 Also god i swear Canada is the last place on earth to get new stuff.

I really like the mass charger box. Great idea. Wish Milwaukee did something similar with packout and drawer system. Would be asking a lot but it would be sweet if these boxes were temperature controlled.

makita has nice products for any task. any charger don't charge all at once kinda useless.
