I always like watching the on demand version of a live stream and getting to the point where there's 30 minutes left of the video and one of them says something along the lines of "there's only 10 minutes left".

This reminded me of story from the early days of internet, when it was still basic translation sites: they tested it so, that they had the English phrase ”the flesh is weak but the spirit is strong”, which they translated to Russian successfully. When they then took that Russian phrase and translated to English, it said ”the meat was rotten but the vodka was good”

I swear the only reason that 47 pulls off those disguises is because his form changes into the person that he stole the clothes off of. Like the Foreman from the Mumbai mission. Was a Indian man came out as a white bald man that just wouldn't work.

On the topic of Google translate shenanigans: my aunt sent me a box of Korean snacks last week and Google was adamant that one of the packages said sewage, before eventually correcting to corn. Also, Psychological Pirates is a great band name.

Someone pointed this out on an Among Us stream and now I can't stop noticing Jane loving on herself in the Zoom and kind of posing and trying out different angles. Love it.
Someone pointed that out way back during an earlier pandemic stream. Can't remember which though. I find it amusing that she's in insta mode all the time, even without her thinking about it. Maybe that's the secret behind not looking like a Gollum in a group selfie.

probably cause Andy is an English major and he tries to get the general vibe of the text whereas Jane is a physics major and she tries to interpret the hard data in front of her
I think the Swahili translation focused on franchise and translated that into SHOP

You should do this again, but with old games! Maybe several times for different eras.
SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, PS1, NeoGeo, etc! But stick obviously to big hits like Mario World & Ecco over even celebrated gems like ActRaiser.
It was painful to see Jane zone in on the clues like "three playable characters' and "bounty hunters" for GTA 5 and RDR2 and still being like "Hmm.. lemme think". It's Wheels and ventgate all over again. 🤣

As an aspiring translator it’s nice too see that machine translation is still unreliable. ( at least for now)
AI is never going to be able to do grammar properly. I have my doubts over the ability of it to translate words right, currently. I've seen Incineroar from Smash Ultimate translated to Ejaculation Salt, so I'd say you're safe.

Or much more optimistic - they believe that he Genuinely Cares So Damn Much, about everything that he is willing to go out of his way to cheat. In today's world, believing that there are people who give that much of a shit about every single thing is actually a pretty upbeat attitude, in contrast to the much more mainstream "we're all dead inside, nothing matters and no one cares" which predominates all discourse in the 2020s.
This stream is amazing guys, not what I expected to see, but loved every minute of it.

I know I'm really late to the party, but I wonder if with Titanfall it translated Call of Duty to THE SHOP because it was thinking about a duty free shop. Loved the show, btw!

She draws pictures labelled Daddy in Dishonoured 1, and the voice acting calls them father and daughter in Dushonored 2
They meant that it should not be on the box, players are supposed to think about that by themselves

The words that ended up being re-translated to a similar sounding but unconnected word gave me an idea......the same thing but rather than google translating multiple times you put the blurb through a, preferably bad, voice recognition system.....maybe multiple times...'robo-whispers'? CHAOS......to step it up do both .... google translate and robo-whisper....would be impossible but undoubtedly hilarious!

I think I know how Latin got "The sun is" from "The only way out is in": "The way out" would be "exitus", which can also mean "sunset". Then they cancelled "ex" and "in" ("out" and "in"), and you're left with "the sun is".

I used google translate on "the only way out is in" to latin and back and I got "The soil is the basis of the way"... XD

I thought it would be fun (and informative) to comment after seeing the streaming schedule that it would be most appropriate (but very specific) to play The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope on the 30th of October, as that night, in the state of Michigan only (in the USA) is referred to as Devil's Night.
Regarding the Hitman description, I think one other problem is that it translated "Travel the world **as** Agent 47" into (what I'm assuming is) "Travel the world **of** Agent 47". While it's true that Agent 47 (or Person 47, if that's how the actual translation went) would have been a huge giveaway, the sentence with the blank make it look like we are in another world.
"Run to the Air" made me immediately think of Skywalker and I couldn't get my head away from that
I'm sorry but they translated description is the exact plot to prototype. Alex wasn't the lead scientist but he wasn't a million miles away

Call of Duty FRANCHISE --> SHOP. They didn't even translate Call of Duty and picked up on franchise.
The best thing there that it was the "call of duty" part that was all caps originally, so "shop" inherited it as well.

I knew the first one (Bioshock) because I'd just seen the box this morning when I purchased a copy at Game X Change. The last line in the blurb was "Do you exploit the innocent citizens of Rapture to save yourself or do you risk all to become their savior?" Read long with Mike as he was saying it and thought, 'Hey, I know that one!.... Why do I know that one?!' =)
Darn! Should've gotten the "Borderlands 2" one as well. Picked it up today, also... (along with 4 cheap games for the Wii: "Go Play City Sports," "Bigfoot Collision Course," "Kidz Sports Ice Hockey," and "Big Beach Sports"). Didn't read the back of the box; just that it was the one that had the download for Tiny Tina's Bunker RPG adventure. Saw some footage of that one earlier this week and thought it looked funny enough to pick up. Sadly, I don't have enough room cleared out on the PS3 for both of them, yet. =)

The prototype box does start with “You are Alex Mercer.” I was convinced that’s what it was too. He was a doctor (scientist). He had a little amnesia. They were on manhattan island in Nee York…. The plot twist was that he was actually he ended up being the bad guy. 😂

I'm watching this later and I would be tied with Andy. Jane should have gotten Halo 3, she talked Halo too much to not get the story plot of that one.
I tested Battleborn to see if it would be similar to Overwatch and it came out pretty clean, but also pretty similar to Overwatch:
