I was going to write an entire comment relating to how you possibly saved 50 seconds of my life, but while rethinking everything that has to do with my life, I came to the realization that writing this comment actually takes away another 50 seconds so technically I still somehow managed to waste my life.
On the bright side, now I'm thinking slightly more logically. I'm going to watch a bunch of cat videos on TH-cam now because you can't get angry at cute stuff for absorbing your life force. I'll only be mad at myself. And you for making me do this. Remember that this is all your fault and totally not me trying not to take responsibility for my own horrible life decisions.
I just realized that by making you read this, I've also wasted your life. I'm really sorry. It's just so hard to stop typing.

Definitely might’ve already been mentioned but for fans of Hellvetica, there’s also Times New Bastard which replaces every 7th letter of Times New Roman with Comic Sans. It’s great

The best way to experience Deadly Premonition is to find one of the six hour videos on TH-cam of all the cutscenes stitched together. It's like a bonus mini-season of Twin Peaks.

I guess maybe they assumed "tale" didn't translate, whereas a "link" to the past is fairly universal? Hah, good pointing out though.
@@manicpixiecassidy my assumption was that DuckTales was American, and would have to be translated into Japanese and would lose the pun, while Link to the Past was such an excellent pun you wouldn't think it's a translation from another language.
The Triforce of the Gods screenshot is in fact from a bootleg NES port, so Jane was right about those colors. (The Japanese title screen from the actual game is unsurprisingly in Japanese: 神々のトライフォース or "Kamigami no Triforce".)
I forgot this anecdote earlier, but one of my favorite things from when I was studying in Japan was when I saw someone out the bus window who was wearing a shirt that said (in English) "Pizza of Death". It was very hard trying not to lose it in front of early morning salaryman commuters.

The "Human Racing Game" where you raced as a human car was called Hot Throttle and I cannot do it justice with mere words.
I would love to have an oxventure dice set specifically a set for each character and on the dob dice if instead of the number one there was just a small dob-face that would be fantastic, bringing a whole new meaning to don't be a dob

Yup! Some of this stuff is iconic.
Jane, I would recommend a run where you can get Trippy Strike (Dionysus' boon to boost attack), dash in, get a few fast hits, and then dash back out. You can play hit-and-run with this, letting the final boss wear down with hangover damage while you focus on defense. If you can get this early, power it up with as many pomegranates as possible. While you're still learning the game, it's perhaps the easiest way to wear down bosses.
Also, get Divine Dash (Athena's dash boon) whenever possible, but that's just good advice no matter how many times you've played.

Talking about lost in translation: the Broken Sword series is published in Germany as "Baphomets Fluch" (curse of Baphomet). I played them all and I only realized when I started to watch british YT channels.

If anything the Bully name change helped sales, I have a very specific memory of thirteen year old me seeing an article about it in my dads Guardian weekend suppliment thinking it looked like the coolest game imaginable 😂 First console game I remember being excited for/being aware of pre release! I replayed it recently and its still brilliant!

I thought they were talking about Pole Position the 1982 game. A restaurant I liked to go to as a little tiny child had the arcade cabinet, black & white, and I always wanted to play it. They also had Asteroids, and over in the bar section of the restaurant where I wasn't really allowed to go, they had Ms. Pac-Man. I was too young to be good any of them, but video games (any, at all) were pretty exciting back then!

Wow, i actually knew the nº 18. Here in Brazil i had a Mega Drive with 30 games included in the memory. The people who choose the titles went "sod it" and included both the Magical Flying Hat and Decap Attack. Fun times.
10 seconds of research reveals that that screenshot of 'Triforce of the Gods' was from a bootleg Chinese NES version of A Link to the Past.
At first glance, Jane's picture in the opening photo looks like a happy normal person. The more I look at it, though, the more I feel like it's a mad smile and she wants to kill me, and Mike and Andy are just sitting there, waiting to judge her technique...
Honestly, Lylat Wars sounds like it should’ve been a tactical game that took place during Star Fox 64, with the Cornerian Army before and during the time when Star Fox went to Venom.
Imagine Star Fox Team being the “overpowered” NPCs that fly in when you’re in trouble!
I believe Mike said the Americans reactions were similar to "what the hell is up with the name?" As an American it makes sense to me, Star Fox does take place in the Lylat system.

Oxventure dice would have blank sides in honor of them mistaking a d12 for a d20 - a d20 with only 12 marked, a d8 with only 6 marked, etc.

Absolutely buzzing when Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure cropped up! Loved this game as a kid and next to no one remembers it! P.s Think it was a licensed game in Japan based on an anime or similar, hence the re skin for the west.

They still sing 'Duck Tale' in the Japanese theme song. And they do a very good job of replicating the American singers as well so both the original and the 2017 version have the same feeling. Watch the Glomgold version and it very much still captures the spirit of that opening perfectly.
