Since I was 12 years old, I've LOVED to contemplate "Infinity". I'm 70 this year, and I STILL LOVE to contemplate it, and have NEVER been able to understand what Infinity really is. God is WONDER-FULL!!!

The bible is only evidence of the fact that men could tell stories........there is no evidence these stories are true. Shelley's Frankenstein is a good story but we cannot claim it to be true just because she wrote it. Well, you say, the bible was inspired by god. I say correctly that's just another claim that has no evidence it is true.

@@nathan5849 My response to that is that life as we know it is tuned to the universe we live in, not the other way round. If one or more of the natural constants of this universe were different it is likely correct that life as we know it would not exist, but it does not logically follow that life in other forms could not exist in such an altered universe. There is no evidence for a creator or creation, only the stories told in the bible that cannot be accepted as truth but on faith alone. Faith is not required in the presence of demonstrable evidence. There is nothing else in your life that you hold as true on faith alone; only the god story. And what is it that makes your god story true and all the others false? And what is your evidence for your answer?

So true! I tend to try and have rational discussions with the folks mocking those, like us, who believe in God and all they do is deny and condescend. It only proves scripture. Christ said that we would be persecuted for our beliefs. I know others experience much worse persecution and they will be rewarded greatly in heaven for enduring it but any amount of persecution proves our beliefs.

The problem with atheists is they look for proof from science or people. If you want proof look for Jesus and you will find it. It really is that simple. In what way? He was just talking about the universe the way he sees it. Dawkins, Hitchens, they all do the same EXACT thing. Without even having answers. They can literally just say, God is evil, why should we want Him? Then when asked for proof to refute Him, and answer simple questions to any Christian, such as how nothing came from nothing, then made everything, they claim science is working on it. Yikes, you atheists need more help than any Christians I've ever met.

The definition of time is that it is finite. Time cannot be infinite because otherwise, tomorrow would never come. The idea of time being infinite is logically inconsistent. On top of that, the universe had to have a beginning because of the law of entropy. The law of entropy states that things will tend toward disorder over time. Therefore, if the universe were infinite the sun couldn’t exist. Neither could any other concentration of matter. Therefore time and the universe had to have a beginning. Matter and space did also since neither could exist without time, according to Einstein’s law of general relativity.
Since time, space, and matter had a one-time beginning, whatever caused them had to be spaceless, timeless, and immaterial. They had to have a cause since things don’t appear from nothing. It’s unreasonable to just assume that time space and matter randomly self-generated from nothing.
The cause of space, matter, and time had to be personal since only persons can make choices. The cause had to be personal since forces can’t make choices. Gravity doesn’t just decide on a daily basis whether or not it wants to make things attract. And even if a force could make decisions, it would have to have a cause.
So the cause of the universe has to be spaceless, timeless, immaterial, and personal. It also had to be creative and intelligent enough to design the universe, and motivated to create the universe. The insane amount of finetuning in the universe to allow life would also allow you to draw the conclusion that it had to have us in mind.
So, based on these logical conclusions, without referencing any holy text, scientific data, or complex philosophy, we have determined that the cause of the universe had to be spaceless, timeless, immaterial, personal, creative, motivated to create the universe and us, and of course, outside this universe.

I agree the Catholic Church is partially somewhat currupt, but we're talking about the Christian Church, the church that says you only have to believe in Jesus rather than reject him to be saved as stated when i said:

Please explain how you know about this untraceable thing. And give me evidence that it's happening, because so far all you've done is state statistics that could totally be true- or totally made up, since you haven't given a source for them. I can’t help but dispute this:
The Earth is located in what is called the Goldilocks zone. It’s just far enough from the sun for water to exist as a liquid but not so far that it freezes up. But if we moved forward or back just a bit we would STILL be in the Goldilocks zone. Venus and Mars are on the edges. But we have a good amount of wiggle room.
Those impacts on Jupiter were from Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9. The clouds they formed were each larger than the earth, but the comet was not so big. It was torn apart by Jupiter before it struck. Having said that, had Shoemaker-Levy 9 hit Earth, we would not be here talking right now.
There are far more stars than grains of sand in the universe. If you meant in the galaxy, then that analogy is correct.
The nearest star to Earth other than the sun is Proxima Centauri at approximately 4.3 light years. It would take the New Horizons probe approximately 54,000 years to get there, and it moves many orders of magnitude faster than the shuttle!

These forces of spiritual darkness have done everything they can in order to corrupt the world as to make men blind to the existence of God. Everything he said was true except the 23 degree tilt thing. The Earth has a wobble and that wobble can be calculated(like a child's toy top) back to a beginning of the wobble(about 4400 years ago). Look at the huge caldera in northern Quebec(seen only in satellite photos). The Earth was not hit in the Gulf of Mexico. You hit something in the middle it does not wobble, it moves away from the point of impact.

Daviyd Viljoen The argument isn't that NO asteroids/comets hit the earth, but rather that the biggest and majority of these objects are diverted away from Earth. This is important because the objects, as Frank pointed out, are bigger than Earth and any one would utterly obliterate it.
miniwars123 and yet Russia gets large meteorites regularly, and don't forget the mass extinction meteorites in the past. It just takes one gravitational tug in the "wrong" direction.
The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was 6 miles across. No imagine the havoc of an object larger than Earth hitting us. There would be no recovery. Notice how we exist: it would not be so without Jupiter, which God placed there to protect us.

He's overstating his case. The particular properties of Earth and our solar system suggest nothing. In a large universe, it's probably not surprising that there exists a planet like ours and a solar system like the one in which we find ourselves capable of supporting life, and obviously that's where we are going to find ourselves. So this part of his argument is absurd. The part of his argument that involves the fundamental constants of the entire universe that seem to be balanced on a razor's edge so that if they were slightly different, life anywhere in the universe would be impossible because stars and planets would never form is a very strong argument ... unless you consider the possibility of an infinite number of universe -- which is more absurd, in my opinion, than the existence of a powerful deity who created our universe.

why do you think God made the rest of the universe? at first i thought due to laws of physics etc so everything is perfect but he doesnt need to abide by that. if he wanted he could have made the entire thing a tiny bubble around earth and it all work fine. I wonder if he made some other children somewhere out there too
That would mean Jesus died for them too. It's likely we are the only ones in the universe since God chose this planet.
