I just have to say thank you for this video! I'm a horse rider from Iceland. Thank you for not going into the field, which is illegal. A lot of tourists do that and sometimes ruin the fences and the horses go running everywhere! And thank you for not feeding them. It can be really bad for them. Their stomachs are different than other horses so they don't handle candy very well. They can get sick and possibly die!! It can also affect their training if they just want candy and treats all the time.
I am a city boy I sometimes pass through places with a lot of pasture land and livestock and I do like to go stand next to the fence and say hi in the hope the cattle and horses and even mamas and chickens come on up to say hi to me. When a little group of ponies comes over to investigate and say hi I feel just wonderful such a simple thing and to be welcomed by horses and cattle and even chickens that just stay close for a few minutes is a high compliment to me it means hello!
Interesting dynamic/communication! Not bad for a beginner, you sure know how to read their body language! They loved your magical hands 😂🤍 that white mare seemed to be the more dominant one 🤔
This is a lovely video about making friends with horses. I have two rescued Icelandic horses here in France. They are both 33 years old and are very friendly and gentle, even with the equine dentist and the farrier. They love carrots and cuddles. I fell in love with Icelandic horses when I visited Iceland in 2014.
I was in iceland 1998 & 2005. In this video i can smell the fresh, clear air an feel the wind!!! Thank you for sharing the beautiful moments. Today i have two icelandic horses, Vinur & Faldur
That was Wonderful! All they wanted was a little scratch on the neck and behind the ears! I’d get my hands dirty anytime if I could spend my day to pet them. Beautiful Icelandic horses, excellent photography. Love the “Bonus Horse”. 💙🦋
They are so damn cute I think my heart would melt and that I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off them. But I would also be scared of getting bitten by one.
I was petting a horse earlier this year. As soon as I stopped he bumped me like the white one did to you. It was hilarious. I started petting him again and he was cool.
Im in awe. What a beautiful video. That is truly a magical moment. They are so beautiful!!! Are you allowed to give them carrots? Or do they belong to someone? Im in California and we dont have anything like that here. 🙁🙁 Well thank you for sharing Debi 🙋♀️⚘😊👍
Horses are awesome. They're like big dogs. Most of them are very sweet and they love attention. I wish I had somewhere to go where I can spend more time with some of them. The curious ones will come up first. If they don't want to interact they'll just moon you and show you their tail. Some horses love being with people. But when getting to know a new horse don't pet their nose first, it would be like somebody putting their hand on your face when you first meet them. Go to their side so they can see you and just give a nice rub on the lower neck so they know you're not a threat. Works much better. Learned that online. Imagine that!! LOL!
You're right about the touching process, but be careful. Dogs are predators; horses are prey/flight animals that tend to run first and ask questions later. Not knowing the difference could cost you a big ouchie if someone spooks and you happen to be standing in the wrong spot.
go for the ears horses love that..well the ones not to far from me love it lol.. dogs are the same ..and cats in some cases. youll know when you have hit the spot cos they will end up on the ground lol, and belly rubs to. i think the white horse like you more lol
6:16, some of that might be fungus, wich is why the horse would feel an itch to then scratch its throat on that thin pole. better would be to use a brush to scratch the horse and maybe some ointment against the fungus.

Are these private properties or some sort of sanctuary? The horses in this video are feral, right? They seem to be so friendly.
All fields are private properties and all the horses are owned by someone. There’s no wild horses in Iceland
@@emmaeldon4451 thanks.
Read about the tradition of letting them roam in the northern mountains and herding them back in September. Nice.
Mahesh Yes! We also herd the sheep together in September
Can they have apples sometimes, not all the time since apples are full of sugar?

If they disliked it, they’d move away. They like you very much!
At first you seemed unsure of how and where to pet the horses but later you turn out to be a horse-massage- therapist...they line up for a turn!!😂❤️🐎
super horse
3:58 - yup, you are doing it correctly :) The horse´s expressions tells everything :)

These horses have no business looking this good. They're majestic no matter what, and then I look like a wet burnt chicken nugget.

I'd say they probably like a good scratching, judging by their use of the fence pole.

The "white" horse looks like an older mare, in foal, as she is clearly the leader over the younger horses.
Such a majestic animal
