A lot of these videos you come into expecting a heartwrenching story because the animal had been abused previously, or abandoned, or was simply born with a deficiency. Here, the horse is fine, the baby is fine, everyone is healthy and happy. It’s just simply a boy and the horse that loves him so much that it comes when he and only he calls.
I like watching both types of stories.
Yes, this was a sweet and upbeat story. I love that "My May" comes running when Kolten calls, though I'm sure he's not the only one Maple responds to in the family, like Mom/Melina.
She owns a home in murrells inlet. Doesn't live there full time,but is there some.

I’ve met a couple horses who were enamoured with little kids. It’s like they know they’re fragile and need extra attention. My last one would stand so attentively and quiet with kids up to 8, but any older than that and he lost interest. He also loved young horses, and would run around with the babies along the fence if he was pastured next to them

This story has me crying. That is a very special relationship. It is so obvious how much Maple loves that little boy and she is so so gentle with him. This will be a life long friendship. I hope there are new videos of the two in the coming years.

There was a giant buckskin on a family friends ranch that absolutely loved kids. He was so calm around them and and would try and lick their faces off. He even helped a few over their fear of horses which was amazing.

humans are part of the animal kingdom.
This hits hard. When I was a toddler, my dad had a horse that would be demonic with him, but angelic when I was near him or on his back. Horses have an insane level of emotional intelligence.
My grandmother had a white German Shepherd which no one could get close to. Kids threw sticks at him.. But as a kid, I could walk up to him, talk to him and pet him. I felt his pain.
My horse beat up her son when I was a kid cause he being a bossy stallion dared to scream at me. She came barreling down the hill do fast a dust storm happened and slammed into him bitting and kicking him hard entail he ran away essentially crying and than she checked back up on me 😆 she was a demonic horse when my dad first got her
haha my uncle had a ranch with more than 10 horses. One of them was called hellfire because not one of his ranch hands could tame him. Only my 10-year old nephew and 8-yr old niece could, for some odd reason. The horse had that "dont get near me or i'll kick your face in, but your kids are welcome' look.
Yep that is the reason, horses are used to treat people, they can feel the emotional damage.

This is how people should be with animals. They aren't stupid. They have emotions just like humans, only they can't talk, but they show it in many ways. How precious is this boy's bond with Maple. True unconditional love. :)

Got horse well two the younger one grew attached to me he sees me he calls out and its funny and he comes going butt to gate I got him so excited one time he started playing with other horse and my boxer loves patch they start playing and but once they get use to u they know who u are there loyal animals it takes time for them to come that way its like dog they can hate u are love u they can pick up how ur going be and jf ur loyal to them thell be 100 percent loyal back
Their relationship is beyond precious & special..they have a forever bond..way to go Mom!

When that little kid grows up he will look back at this video and realize how lucky he was to be friends with a horse in his childhood...it's a very rare experience that most people will never know.

People rarely know this experience because horses aren't important for human health. What's more important is human contact outside of your family.
I grew up on a farm in Howick , Quebec. One day I wondered off to the field and remember going through the fence to play with the horse. Now I was just a toddler, couldn’t of been older than three years old maybe a little younger. That’s because I had to stretch out my arms to rub my horses’ belly. And I remember making circles and figure eights around her legs.
At one point my Mother had noticed where I was and started running towards me. My Mom was terrified that horse would trample me, but the horse was always still when I played beneath her. And when my mom was near she gently nudged me with her nose towards my Mother.
I’ll never forget that .

When I was a young child I was crazy about horses. That little guy is so blessed to live on a farm. The horse clearly loves this child.

I love your son and the relationship you have facilitated with your little guy and May May. Perfection. Love the love between horse and little guy. Agree. I kept my first horse at a church camp with 500+ acres. My mom & I worked there & I'd take little kids for rides on my horse. She was spunky but with kids on her back, she was as gentle as could be.
It continues to astonish me! The beautiful horse is out in the pasture; the little child calls out, "May, May, come!" The horse raises her head, whinnies a greeting, and starts cantering up to the barn! I have never seen anything like it! Maple loves that small boy! Amazing!

May May is such a sweet, gentle girl with that little boy, her little boy! Such applause and gratefulness to Kolten's mom (and dad) for teaching him to care for, love, enjoy and respect animals. It's so hard to find this these days and it just fills me with warmth when I see it (so much so that I seem to be crying to let the warmth pressure out). This video is what I needed this morning - thank you for posting it Dodo.
I think I've watched this video at least 50 times. It is so much fun to watch Kolten call to Maple and see her respond to him immediately. In fact those are my favorite parts of this video, to hear Kolten call May May and to see how much they are bonded to each other. Thank you so much for this. It always makes me smile.

I wasn't raised around horses but when I was pregnant with my 3rd and last, we bought a farm and got some great horses. Jesse and Apple and a pony. My daughter was fearless by 3 yrs old. She would go out, yell for the horses and they would come running. She would go out and get one of them, didn't matter which one and want to ride. It scared me to death though. The boys always wanted to fish, which there was a huge flowing creek on the property, to fish or swim. They loved the horses too but not as much as my daughter. I was for sure to have a heart attach in my late 20s because of her, lol. This video brings back a lot of memories. Love this

My first horse Misty, got her when I was 11, was so gentle and protective of me. Horses are tons smarter than most people give them credit for and they are extremely empathic. This kid is going to have a great time growing up with Maple. Got something really special with this one.
As someone who’s had many horses over the years it is the RARE horse who acts like this but when you do find one, it is a very, very special relationship. My first Lipizzaner colt was a strong, alpha type handful (even gelded). He was eventually sold to a trainer who competed with him. She was teaching a paraplegic woman (para rider) who needed a horse to compete with so the trainer tried her own, now highly trained Lipizzaner, who was occasionally still a handful. When the young woman got on him he turned into the calmest, gentlest nanny horse and took his job seriously. He KNEW! ❤️❤️ to these super special horses

I'm 47 and the memories I have from my grandparents' farm and the days I spent around one particular horse during my childhood are unforgettable. I can tell you he is one lucky kid, kudos to his parents
Reminds me when I was a kid when my family had horses. Our mare Missy was just like that with my brother and I. Whenever we went out into the pasture she was right there with us like she was our mother. How the way she stood behind and over our shoulders like she was protecting us when with her. We were lucky to have such gentle horses. I miss those days.

It is because you have given Maple an outstanding life, and incredible positive attention. These videos will always be my very favorite of all I watch. What a really great mare you’ve got there!!! And you son is just a real sweetie pie! Made me tear up. You kept him very safe, fences between, mare in her own safe bedroom… and that’s just wise, a characteristic often missing with owners of horses who can spook in a nanosecond because that’s just what prey animals do. I have no grandkids and my sons are all about money, more suburban life. I have had horses for 10-12 years and hoped they would have a grand for me to introduce to my lovely senior horses.
