Excellent video. Clearly stated and a clear demonstration. Hannah makes an important point. It's not rocket science, her instructions make the whole process very understandable. I don't use my torque wrench to install or remove fasteners. I use a regular wrench for that. I only use my torque wrench to check the final tightening of a nut or bolt.
Huge thanks for the video. I was tempted to get this for my C line but didn't know it doesn't fit. Really wanted to improve the rolling on my brompton but I don't need a full rack for that. Time to look at aftermarket options...
Hi dear lady and bless you for your very helpful videos. Thanks to this one, I got my advance roller rack installed onto my C Line Electric in no time the other day. However, I have a question and you may be able to help. As we know, this model has front and rear wired pre-installed dynamo lighting and in order to install the rack I had to remove the rear reflector light and temporarily tape the wire. Therefore, is there an adapter mount available that could allow me to re-install that light at the same place or does it now have to be a different option, perhaps the rear battery lamp and replace the basic reflector that the rack came with? Hope my question makes sense. Thank you.
Hopefully Brompton will be persuaded to make a similar nice lightweight rack for classic Bromptons, rather than let third parties get the custom, it seems very surprising that they didn't develop them in parallel...
Thx for the helpful video! Would you be able to do a video on how to replace the seatpost insert sleeve (slipping), and what tools are required? Thanks!
Many thanks for watching. Yes they do a rack bag, link as follows: brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-rear-racks-and-rack-spares/5323-brompton-rear-racksack.html We also found one with pannier fold out flaps that’s kind of cool: brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-rear-racks-and-rack-spares/4225-madison-rack-top-bag-with-fold-out-pannier-pockets.html And worked OK on a Brompton
Very happy to see this, after searching for comments on the rack. I wonder if you could answer this, I would take the p-line on an off the train daily and I'm not sure the mudguard is up to the constant pressure on an off it. On my old Brompton I had a rack, but it was a weight so now I'm stuck between two worlds, even with this rack being so little in weight. The other thing, you have the S handlebars on it which look wicked, how was that ridding after a couple of miles for your back and arms? Any ideas
Brompton are normally really good at product testing, so I expect / hope the mudguards will last! The Low bars I find comfortable, but I’m short (5 ft 6) so it’s not too low for me. The best is to take one for a test ride 😀
Thanks for watching and the great question The distance is 50mm the same as with the previous versions of Brompton reflectors / lights Yes - there are other lights available that will fit
Would a rack like this one also fit a pre-letter brompton - I have the 2017 or 2018 model without rear rack and now I think I wouldn’t mind having one… Thank you.
No the Advance rack will not fit the C Line or earlier Brompton. You would need the older style rack - Brompton rear carrier / rack set, link as follows: brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-rear-carrier-bits/2534-brompton-rear-carrier-set-black.html
Good video, well done as usual, may I ask the feed back regarding the P- line version is head and shoulders above the other versions in all areas , it would be nice to see a comparison video be it on flat roads or hills and a day real life = carrying up and down bus, stairs, etc, also can you fit the old rack on the P - line because we all know much better rack or is that a secret ? Where’s the song it’s coming as always = Hey Rock and Roll = Showaddywaddy.
C line rack is 3 lbs & this P line rack is about 6 oz ( check out the weight difference on Brompton website, P line) Of course the C line rack look stronger ( not sure the weight capacity ) but overall - the load I carry is no more than maximum capacity, say 10 kg. I would prefer to have this P rack (max 10 kg ?) on my C line.
@@talktodaveuk Sorry not sure what you mean regarding the electric Brompton, I would be guessing if you mean my comments about the P - line being heads and shoulders above the other version that’s the feed back I’ve received but only on the none electric versions but would be happy if you have an opinion on the normal electric and P - line electric ,
Sorry not clear , I was wondering what’s the best rack for the electric Brompton (to be honest I’m a newbie and get versions confused). Love the videos was one of the reasons I got an electric Brompton:)
Oh so many comments to respond to in one go We plan to make a video comparing the 4 speed with the 6 speed. The weight of the P Line rack is only 341g Both have a maximum capacity of 10kg The standard aluminium rack should be fitted to the C Line electric Hope that’s all questions? Thank you for watching!
looks like you could even attach some panier bags (like Ortlieb gravel) to the new rack due to its round struts. However having an older Brompton I have no problem using a third party lightweight rack on it as Brompton seems not to be interested in providing one. May I ask, whats the weight of this Advanced rack?
Hello, I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for creating and sharing these videos with us. One quick question - which torque wrench you use in your videos? I want to buy one so that I apply the correct amount of torque (Nm) when I work on my bromptons. Thanks again.
H: we will try without removing the wheel.. because people don't like taking ... *cut scene.... taking what? taking selfie? taking money? taking lunch? taking a close up? taking a bushing out??? hahaha very detailed installation
Thanks for watching - and the comment With the introduction of the T Line and P line came a new rear end ... this rear triangle is actually compatible with the main frame on earlier models, but the parts on the new rear are not compatible with the old rear (e.g. the suspension block is different, the new triangle accepts the 4 speed derailleur whereas the old triangle accepts the 2 speed derailleur) The newest Brompton Electric (4 and 12 speed) also uses the new rear triangle - only in steel instead of the titanium version used on the P/T Lines - but the frame is the same
It would take a mobile attack to be fixed to the triangle... However the height of the wheels is not exploited, when it rolls it almost touches the ground
It is better not to use your torque wrench as a general wrench to undo and tighten bolts. Only use it for torquing up bolts so it doesn’t prematurely fall out if calibration.
We deliberately didn't have racks fitted on our Bromptons as when you flip the rear wheel under the frame which we both do fairly often, you'd have to remove any bag or luggage first. This to us, makes it pointless having a rack. Just saying - ! 😁
Thanks for watching and for the great question short answer: No The advance rack will only fit the advance rear frame / triangle as used on the P Line and T Line All other Brompton bikes - A Line / B75 / C Line / previous super light models don’t have the correct fixing points on the rear frame - but can be fitted with the standard rear rack
Hi brilliant bikes , you are professional on Brompton bikes but kind of disappointed that you don’t even knew that all Brompton rear wheels are offset to the drive side …
Hi - thanks for watching We haven’t made the video on wheel building for the Brompton (yet) it’s been years in the making !!! We’re wondering where your comment came from?
It’s a shame they won’t let you upgrade the parts on an older Brompton to accommodate these. Plus the easy wheels need to be like roller wheels on a suitcase so it’s easier to manoeuvre. Wake up to this Brompton 🤬🤬🤬
Please do not ever attach a Brompton to a stand by its seat post. Always attach by the mainframe. As soon as I see anyone hang a Brompton by the seat post, I realise they know or care nothing about Bromptons.

I know it’s got a bit confusing! The newer C line electric has the same shape rear triangle as the P line

Loved that satisfying click
What weight does it add? I guess it's not Ti
It weighs 341g so does not add much weight at all!
Thanks for the question we really should have covered that!
Thanks for the install tips! It made the job easy. Do you know of any rechargeable rear lights that would fit this rack to replace the reflector?

Will the uniklip system bags work with this rack? I see that it is not parallel like the original ones.
So sorry we are not familiar with the unclip system bags, so cannot say for sure.

Good clip!
