Your channel is literally the absolute best car channel on youtube, it astounds me that you don't have millions more subscribers. Every video you put out is a must watch! Hoping for more of the chop to the top series soon ! Great Job on this jag also, it looks mint now
i absolutely love jaguar xtypes, I cant imagine insurance would be half decent for a new driver though sell another one in a few years and ill be there
Despite the few minor items you couldn't put right, you have done your usual brilliant job on this car. It is good to see another car revived and put back on the road, especially when it has been done so well. Well done Johnny.
I hope you got at least £3.5 k for it,I think it was worth more! The door seals can/could be found but new set of 6 cost me over £200 a few years back, I dosed them up with wax oil on fitting them and that was about 7 years ago and perfect to date! No point buying old ones at all! Not knowing what you paid all in for initial purchase and subsequent bits n bobs etc, let alone your labour value, I feel you should have changed the seals and gone in at £4,250! Seriously, you’ve made a small limo into a highly desirable purchase to the correct target audience! When you do such comprehensive work, you deserve the reward for your efforts! Cheers and well done, they are brilliant cars and not a Mondeo in a posh frock! Look out for another, future classic I’ve been told on good authority!
@@nigelparker5886 Thanks Nigel. The Jag did sell (after a bit of a hiccup with the first buyer - see later videos), but it subsequently went on to an absolutely top bloke who deserved a proper example!
What a transformation ! Thanks for rescuing an X-Type. I have had an 08 2.0D S (base model) saloon for nine years so there must be something appealing about it...mine has the same problem with the side window weatherstrips bubbling up. I just looked on SNG Barratt's site and they're still available under 'door outer waist seals' but 70 quid a piece 😖
They’re very good cars and seem to have a keen following from those in the know! If you can find the weather strips it may be worth doing them if the car is a keeper!
Johnny You have done a first class job on this car it was rough now it look beautiful you should feel proud of your self well done mate looking forward to the next car 😂 Phil in stoke
As ever, an absolute joy to watch this restoration! I already have an Mercedes E Class Estate but i still hope one day to have a vehicle you have lovingly given a 2nd chance too! Brilliant channel! Keep safe! M
Top job on the Jag Johnny. It looks great.I don't think the fact you couldn't find replacement seals, makes any difference to how it looks for its age or the price you will sell it for.You really have left your mark on this car through hard work & graft. Whoever ends up with this Jag, is getting a lovely car especially for £3500. Thanks for vlog & look forward to seeing what you have lined up next. All the best 👍🏻
Good job on the Jag, and it’s priced well too, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble moving that one. My saloon is let down by those weather strips too..doesn’t bother me though, it’s just one of those things
Great episode as ever. That’ll be bought swiftly enough. Looking forward to the next episode with the price breakdowns and what car is next on your channel.
Excellent stuff johnny. Turned out to be a nice example if the xtype estate there! The more i look at that red the more i like it! Good luck with the sale!
I was watching this final Jaguar estate, I am a courier and right now drive an Audi A6 2.7TDI its a fab car fast full leather but its really getting close to requiring some work.. There are no two cars the same but in terms of starting conditions they both had a close match, mine is minor light scratching, I was disappointed with the valet the car received interior looked good, but engine bay left a lot to be desired. The roads around England and Wales are sadly not worth the road tax we pay.. But my suspension could be described as tired oh and a wheel bearing does need changing.. Plus two tyres I paid £400 for Avon ZV7's a set of 4 three are still on car.. Right I have been looking for a newer car mine is 07 with 192.000 which I feel is nothing on Audi and hold there values..I can just keep the car and just do enough to keep car happy. I've looked at newer Audi A6 3.0 and 2.7 around £5000 -£6000 Mondeo Titanium 2.2 estate around 63 plate £4500. So how much would you offer me for my car and how much cash for yours..? So far I have considered having all the suspension replaced £800 with a brand new set of tyres £500 and do the wheel bearing as standard. Oh I own a burgundy 4.0 jaguar Sovereign 2001.
That’s a tough one. If you know the car well and have had it for a while it’s always tempting to spend the money and make it right / keep using it as selling it with the issues will mean that it doesn’t have a great deal of value, but to rectify the problems will cost money and at that stage you may as well keep it! Ultimately it comes down to whether you feel that once the work is done, will there be anything else needing attention still and will the car continue to service your needs. It is certainly a bit of a dilemma!
Fantastic car Johnny, well done. You did great with it. Fantastic value at £3,500. I would be very interested myself, although current car is doing fine. Maybe sometime…
I’ve actually heard a few people mention sellers remorse after saying goodbye to their Xtype! I’ve really enjoyed using this one, it’s just such a comfortable thing!
Nice car man. How are auctions there? U have to give a percentage of the starting price upfront in order to participate or u can join and just bid without requirements?
As long as you’re registered with the auction house, you can bid! That can drive prices up when retail punters decide to buy from auction though as they can justify giving more than those of us in the trade (who have to rectify issues and retail a car), but that’s the state of the game these days so we’ve just got to keep moving forward!
Absolutely! Chop To The Top is ongoing but as it’s a ‘down time’ project for me episodes can take a while to create and release (especially when the workshop is busy). The next episode where I reveal costs / profits on the double deal from last episode (Mondeo ST / Range Rover) is due to release sometime in the next month or two & I will also shown what I have bought to move forward with 👍
@@JohnnyGetsCash mate proper. God knows how much you bought this for but you've easy put a grand of work into it. Well prepped car. Beautiful motor for this money. Peanuts.
@@JohnnyGetsCash brill. I'd imagine it's touch and go once you factor your own time and expensea even at a conservative quote. Eg you say your time is at 20quid an hour for instance. You have the premises and the overheads etc

this isn't going to hang about at 3.5k. A lot of motor for little money.
Would of looked better with a bigger number plate on the rear
