Viltrox has been killing it lately!
Absolutely!
Can't wait your review
I was saying the same thing 🥹
My Viltrox 16mm f1.8 arrived today for Sony FE and I am just awe struck by what comes out of it… it is my new favourite lens, previous one being the 13mm F1.4 for XMount :) - Viltrox are making some insanely good lenses.
Great review. Welcome to Thailand.
If I didn’t already have the Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4 I might go for this lens due to the price. However, the extra size and weight isn’t worth the 1/3 of a stop in my opinion. I’m glad Viltrox is providing competition to Fujifilm’s first-party lenses. I wish Sigma would make x-mount versions of their Art and L-Series lenses.
For me, the main put-off was its stepping motor - which is juddery when holding focus on anything that's approaching or moving away. My 33mm's linear motor is much better for that.
the nearly double in price is absolutely worth the bit of weight, you even an extra 1/3 stop as well
Pascal what’s the suggestion for two prime lens for travel video on XS20? Id of landscape, city and people photography.
Every Lens has " Cats Eye" toward the edges. This is because of the physical lens barrel elements and the curve of the glass. This cannot be avoided. Some cameras try to auto correct this in camera. So, Cats Eye is not really a negative. It's physics. Just a caveat of the barrel
Greeting! Could you please make a video comparing the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 and the Sigma 23mm 1.4 for video recording? Or tell me which one is better for Fuji X-t 4. I'm a videographer and I'm not sure which of these two lenses to buy for video recording. Similar focal length, but I prefer the bokeh on the Viltrox. It seems to me that both lenses have a problem with autofocus for video and with focus breathing. Can the new firmware fix this problem? Thank you!
For my use I prefer the Fuji 27mm pancake lens :)
OK, need to decide on this lens, Sirui 35mm sniper or Sirui 35mm nightwalker for video! please compare the three very soon! 🙃
Thanks for the review. I see you’ve used this and the Sirui Sniper. I have a FUJI xt-3 and am looking to get one of these for video first and photography second. Which one would you go with?! Thanks.
Viltrox
A very clinical lens that lacks character, but still amazing and worth having. Great review.
My one just turned up today. And as always when I buying a new lens or camera, starts raining :( I did play around in the house with the lens and the image quality is amazing. The af is okay on my xt4, similar to the 75mm.
My fav focal length of all time
I am a Xh2s user. I always enjoy watching your travel videos.
Does the AF drop much in the video compared to the new XF23mm 1.4 or the XF 33mm 1.4? Or is it similar?
I mainly use the 23mm 1.4 (new model) and sometimes use the 50mm 1.0 for beauty shots (all for video), but I'm thinking about what this lens will be like as a replacement for the two lenses. do you think it's possible? If weight doesn't matter.
I didn't use these lenses yet. I found the autofocus to be okay for what I do with it. I'd test it when it's in a shop decide then in your case.
@@pascalbasel Thank you for answer. Helped me a lot. Hope you keep making great videos. take care of yourself.
Great video. 👍 😅
I'm curious how this lens would perform on an X-h1
I need this lens..
Wat Doi Suthep Great Location to test the lens 😍 So beautiful up there! Also Pai canyon 😀
Viltrox really doing a good job and the 13mm saved the X-Mount for me! Do you think they ever will come up with a zoom lens?
Would be great if they come out with a 16-55 F2.8 (maybe just little bit smaller than the Fuji with 67mm filter Thread)
I'm not sure if they will do that. But if yes, I expect that it will take some time. I like the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 a lot if you want something small or Tamron 17-70 F2.8, not small but still lighter as the 16-55, more range and 67mm ;-)
@@pascalbasel But all not wide enough for vlogging 😁 had the Fuji 18-55, absolutely loved it - but for two people it’s to narrow. I think 16mm would be the absolute maximun.
@@Better.Beyond Yes, that's true. I actually always have two cameras with me just because I'm too lazy to change lenses xD
Nice lens 🎉 and handsome man 😊
😘
Just out of interest, where did you get that like and subscribe animation?
It's from MotionVFX + some custom animations added for that fly out effect. Used motion blur to make it look like that.
How does this lense perform for video? Some other reviews said AF isn't that good for shooting video.
5:35 ;-)
Was not clear to me because there was shown fotos, sorry
@@clausstahl5166 Yeah, aside from autofocus, I think it's better to show photos to judge a lens. Raw + Lightroom without lens corrections...
On some other video as I have seen a quite significant focus breathing with the 75mm and 27mm. Not the best for vidéos from what I’ve heard. This being said I am mainly shooting photos, so not an expert here.
Yes, Viltrox saw and took a great opportunity. But there’s another waiting to be filled. I came to Fuji’s apsc in part to keep my gear small and light. I’d like a quality portrait lens - around the old 100 - 105mm ff equivalent standard. It doesn’t have to be extraordinarily fast. So if someone makes an excellent 65 or 70mm f1.8 or f2 autofocusing lens, preferably weather sealed with an aperture ring it will be my next purchase. Anyone else?
Samyang 75 1.8 small fast and light
Maybe try the Viltrox 75mm F1.2. 112mm equivalent but still great for portraits.
75mm is just a little too long for me, and the Viltrox, though an exquisite lens, is just too big for my comfort. The Samyang is considerably smaller, but I think it’s nearly as expensive as the Viltrox (both quite reasonable though). I’m more inclined to go for the Sigma 56mm f1.4 than either of these 75mm lenses.
@@MRatnaI have the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 56mm, it's reasonably compact, reasonably priced and pretty sharp. Hard to go wrong!
The 50/2 Fujicron is a fantastic tiny portrait lens.
Danke fürs Video auch in englischer Sprache 😉
Fujifilm has 50 mpx options , the GFX 50 series.
I know, I meant their apsc line.
Did you buy the xh2s again then?
Yes
@@pascalbasel what made you change your mind? (Perhaps a video on why!!)

@@pascalbasel love that you’re back on a Fuji. Can I ask, and apologies if you’ve addressed this in other videos, but what colour space management settings do you use for Flog2 in davinci? As I’m sure you know, they only have ‘flog’ available as an input and I can’t really find how other people get around this.
@@imeanbillya I use Arri Log 3
Finally someone using it on an XT5.
It may be great optically, but it is a big lens for an x-mount system. I prefer my 27mm pancake lens for portability. Strange how APS-C was more compact system but seems to be getting larger by the day with the new lenses that are coming out.
It’s as I said in the video. Everyone can choose if he goes big and heavy or small and light with that system depending on the shooting scenario. Not sure why so many people complain. It’s just another option and nothing was taken away.
@@pascalbasel True. I love the Viltrox 75mm even on the tiny X-E4. It's actually quite stable to use when your left hand is supporting most of the weight while your right hand can focus on operating the shutter and controls. It's not even really heavy. And comparing it to an equivalent FF lens setup, it is quite a step down in size and weight. And the image quality and performance is just spectacular. For me as a working photographer (weddings), the Viltrox 75mm actually makes the X-Series quite attractive. Looking forward to the 27mm!
@@pascalbaseldidn't you hear, we need another pancake 27mm lens aside from fuji's own 2 models and ttartisan's 27mm, and the myriad of small 25mm manual lenses. We don't have enough pancake options as it is! 😂
7:31 Why not carry even heavier gears to hiking and burn even more calories?
560g is too heavy for your spaghetti legs?
🥰👍
I want to hear you say "Get to da Choppa!"
It's coming xD
Actually, the APS-C crop on Fujifilm cameras is 1.53 not 1.5. So the FOV with this lens is 41.31.
Sony crop sensor cameras are 1.5 and Canon is 1.6 for their APS-C cameras.
Just a point of correcting especially for those who didn't know.
Sorry, but 1,5 or 1,53 is cherry picking….
I appreciate the high quality of the new viltrox pro lenses, but having tried the 27 / 1.2 I was not super impressed. Not as "magical" as the 75/1.2 which is superb especially in terms of "look" e.i. color. Also, at 27mm I feel the step from the f1.4 or even the very compact f2 lens is not worth the extra weight.
Viltrox - showing Fuji what it should have been doing
funny this Viltrox Hype but nowhere available 🤣 no offence Viltrox, but bring the products to the people and not to the TH-camrs only.
In the UK there is a stockist who gets them to you by next day. I m going to buy my 3rd from him.
