    So Ryan, kudos to you for the best tip I've seen yet. I was checking the existing inventory as you suggested, and last Sunday there were 10 or so Red Model 3 long Range, plus a blue and a couple of others. I had had a silver with black M3 long range on order since November but on hold until Jan 1 just in case the EV tax credit passes and is retroactive to 1/1. I kept my eye on the inventory throughout Sunday and watched as one by one the cars on the page disappeared. Finally with two red to go I pulled the trigger and made the switch from the silver to red with black, including the 19" wheels. Car arrives this Saturday. Thanks again for the best tip I've seen after hundreds hours on TH-cam watching a lot of presenters!

    Thank you for another great video. Do you , or anyone else for that matter, find that when you update the software you lose LTE connection for a day or so? It happens to me every time and is very frustrating because it's cold where I live and I really like to precondition the car in the morning before leaving and I can't without going outside to the car when connectivity is not available.

    Hi Ryan, fantastic videos! Thank you! If you have any influence with Tesla at all can you please convince them to provide a “chrome restore” option for the trim on the Teslas? I just don’t like that black trim but that’s my preference. I would be curious what an Internet survey would provide on that subject, “Black trim or chrome?” Maybe we could have both just like we have a choice of interior and exteriors colors as well as wheels.

    Got a relevant question about one pedal driving you mentioned. Which would be more efficient- scenario- slight gradient downward, car stays at 40mph in roll mode for a few miles, would you leave in Roll mode or one pedal driving? Roll would just deactivate the motor and not use any electricity, one pedal would sense the motor and road speed and keep the motor active, since its not enough to charge and would reduce speed, one pedal driving surely use more energy in that situation only?

    Not sure anyone cares, but in the pre-refreshed Model X/S you can increase speed while in Autopilot or adaptive cruise in 1mph increments with a light up/down on the Autopilot stalk, or 5mph increments with a full up/down.

    Love my Plaid. But there is one serious problem my local Tesla folks acknowledge but don’t know if it will ever be fixed. The problem is the front differential does not work on sharp turns. Consequently, on a sharp turn, the tires chatter as they skip on the road. A serious problem. Why is there not more talk about this issue?

      @DonBrowningRacing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love mine as well. Planing track days on Daytona, Sebring and Homestead. May race in SCCA. Will let you know if chatter is an issue pivoting into an apex. May need ceramic breaks and use breaking in and accelerating out of corners. I’m used to stock Miata and low Hp.

    • @walthooker1434
      @walthooker1434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Long press is about 2 seconds. That's when you'll see the parking break light come on. I now have to try opening the door to see what happens when I'm parked.

      @@health101DOTorg
      Short press is like opening the door with the shift being put into Park. It would take the car out of gear or neutral to prevent it from rolling when you open the door.
      Long press sets the parking brake [not break like I typed earlier] (typically in ICE cars it's a small pedal above the floor board or a handle/lever in the center console.)
      The parking brake would be very useful when parking on a hill. Someone else may know more about what the parking brake actually does. In an ICE car I think it would take pressure off the transmission by locking the wheels. In a Tesla it may take the pressure off the motors when they are just in Park mode.

    Here in norway a normal short click on the park button will always engage the parking brake. It's actually impossible to leave the car without engaging the parking brake as opening the driver door will activate it.

      If you press and hold the park button, it will hold it like an ICE emergency brake. Helpful while parking on an incline.

    Good video. I have an idea to tell Elon Musk, but since I don't know him, and I'll never meet him, I'll put my suggestion here. I've read that the Model 3 battery heat comes from waste heat from the inverter. That's good; I want better. Here's my idea for a battery heater:
    I don't want to lose 20% of my range due to cold batteries. So, either a (a) built-in, or (b) an easily attachable/detachable heater that would plug into a port on the underside of the car. It works only when plugged into an L2 or L3 charger.
    I pull into my garage at night in winter. I've got 10% charge left. I plug in. I know I want to leave tomorrow at 7AM. I set my Tesla to charge to 80% for a long day trip. The batteries charge from 8PM - 4AM. Let's say it takes an hour to warm the batteries. I schedule the battery warmer and the battery coolant pump to start at 6AM. I schedule the cabin heater, seat heater and steering wheel heater to start at 6:45 AM (guessing this takes 15 minutes). At 7AM, I disconnect the battery warmer, unplug the charge cable and leave my house in a warm car with 100% of my expected range.
    Built in? Could be an option for customers in colder climates. But it occupies volume and adds weight.
    Attachable? Pain in the ass to install/remove in the winter - but may be helpful to eliminate a charge en route for a long trips.
    Could be a resistive wire heating a metal plate, that's affixed to a metal plate in the battery case (heating conductively). Or a transformer primary on the garage floor, and the transformer secondary mounted to the underside of the battery case (inductive heating). Then, it could be powered by a 120VAC smart plug that starts/stops via the Tesla App. The primary would have to sit a couple inches above ground level for decent transformer coupling.

    I don’t see any discussion on this, but sending an address from Google maps to Tesla does not work most of the time because Tesla puts the whole address, including City and state into the street address then, automatically enters the current city and state in the other blocks. Very annoying

    Why can I not see the internal camera on my scree. This would be perfect for security reasons as if an UBER customer wants to steal the car I could first show them they are on camera first. Might prevent 80% of possible thefts. If the camera it already installed why can I not see myself on it.
