It... talks... like... this... occasionally in order to make you think that it's the only way it can speak, when really it can speak English fluently. The gag is that the goatman is trying to find YOU, not the hiker. Give the hiker and "the hiker" directions that are TOO accurate to where you are and the monster will run ahead of the real guy and get you. The real way to win is to simultaneously get the hiker someplace safe while misleading the goatman: tower 2. The angry sounding voice you get when the "hiker" gets to the empty tower is the goatman. It abandoned the hiker to run to where it thought you were and kill you, and is angry that you mislead it somewhere else. If you turn on the lights like it asks, it will find out where you REALLY are, and run over to you and kill you. The fact the hiker calls you up to thank you while the goatman is at the door reveals this to be true. If you don't turn on the lights, we can assume that the goatman gets frustrated, loses interest in the hunt and runs off. That's when the REAL hiker reaches the tower and calls you to thank you for getting him somewhere safe.That's the "happy ending".

Oh like a procedurally generated map, with different actions and paths. One person could be in the fire tower, and the other would be led away. This is ripe for trolling each other, and i love it.
The goat man, initially was chasing the hiker but then decided to get the ranger as well. He was trying to chase the hiker to ranger tower so he could get the ranger’s location. You see the goat man was learning to imitate the hiker the whole time but needed more words and sentences to completely imitate the hiker. And by the end he was to able speak a full coherent conversation with the ranger using only words that the hiker has used during his ramblings. If you were leading the hiker to tower two, that was the creature deceptively pleading you to turn on your lights so he could atleast get to you. If you waited, the hiker would be able to enter the tower and you would just get the “thank you” that you goddamn deserved.

This explains why the hiker seems to teleport to different locations. This is also why in the papers it states that either both you and the hiker died, one of you died or both of you lived. People keep calling it a goatman, but it seems more like a classic Wendigo to me? Super fast, super strong humanoid with the ability to mimic human voices and a hunger for flesh. I think they're usually portrayed with some sort of horns or antlers, unlike what they did in Until Dawn.
Eddy Mercan kinda, but there is a legend (there’s multiple if ya didn’t know) where the goatman does similar things to the typical wendigo. So they might have used that legend’s goatman for the game.

The last ending is the good ending you can tell bc the chilled voice is worried hes alone when you lead him to the empty tower. the panicky voice soon later says Thanks you. Tip: Panicky = real hiker / Chill = Goatman.
I'll explain all these Ending 1: You lead the hiker to the wrong path and he gets killed by Goatman, causing the hiker to die himself. Ending 2: You lead the hiker to the other tower and he hides there, the Goatman already lost the hiker and he's trying to kill you so he mimics the voice of the hiker and asks you to show where you are, you turned on the lights causing the Goatman to come after you, resulting you to be killed. Ending 3: You lead the Goatman to the other tower and the Goatman will try to mimic hikers voice again and try to get you to turn on the lights, if you didn't turn it on congrats! You both lived. Ending 4: You lead the hiker to the wrong path and he gets killed first. He mimics his voice and if you turn on the lights you die too. You both die
for those who dont understand: the goatman's main purpose was to locate the park ranger(thats YOU!) periodically, as observed and heard, it would say peculiar things that were no doubt questionable and definitely out of the ordinary. it did so so as to get the ranger to associate such statements to whatever else that was out there. unbeknownst to the ranger, even sane statements thought to be said by the lost hiker were actually voiced by the goatman. the goatman's objective was to occasionally attempt to cover as the lost hiker so the ranger would lead it(the goatman) to his location. pretty smart move, there. that explains why sometimes the lost hiker JUMPED locations. NO, he didnt just teleport or fly or run through the woods and ended up in between the mine and the lake, but that was the goatman's location, not the hiker. thats why on certain occasions when you thought the hiker was speaking, it was actually the goatman i.e when it claimed that the ranger had led *IT* to an empty tower. that is OBVIOUSLY false considering tower 2's ranger was asleep. now if you assume that tower 2 was empty because the ranger died to the goatman, well that's impossible because he's asleep and there's no way in hell he could've led the goatman to his location whilst deep in slumber. i cant explain the eyes watching you though. now obviously if that was the goatman, then this whole theory is busted because then the goatman would know exactly where the player was to begin with
Ive been seeing a lot of videos and the closest explanation I have is that, the goatman was after the hiker first and then it found out about you and decides to go after you. The goatman is a genius because he pretends he can only talk is small words but he only talks like that so he can fool you. Tower 2 is most likely empty because in the ending the hiker is found in tower 2 and had to be removed for trespassing. In the end the desperate voice that tells you to open show him where he is, IS the GOAT MAN. He decides to go ahead of the hiker and rushes to tower 2, only to find it empty. And leaves and then eventually the hiker gets there. And he says "thank you" in the end.

The last ending is the best ending when you both survived, you and the hiker. You made the right choice not turning the light on when he told you to show him where you are.

My theory is the goatman killed the guy on the other tower..And took the other tower guy radio so the goatman is able to locate you using fake voices..Thats why what you need to do here is not lead the guy on the radio to you.. you must lead him to the other tower

Like when he says, “are.... you.... watching.... the .... lake...?” It’s goatman, because it’s slow and broken. But when it’s just normal conversation, it’s actually the human. Some time stamps: 4:18 goatman says something, and when the ranger asks about it, the person says, “I didn’t say anything.” So who else could it have been, except goatman? 6:22 more slow broken speech, followed by an inhuman screech. 6:45 goatman says, “should I make it run”, “it” being the human. I’m guessing that the voice that speaks slow and scary is goatman and the hiker says thank you because he basically sandbags the goatman onto you so it can eat you.
The goat man is able to *mimic* other people’s voices. To get the good ending you have to lead the hiker to tower 2 where he will hide out and be safe from the goatman. The goatman was expecting to find you and/or the hiker at *your* tower, by following the hiker and listening to your instructions. goatman actually loses the hiker a few times throughout the hunt and listens to your conversation to help him get back on the right track. When the hiker gets to the tower this throws the goatman off badly; he can’t find the hiker and he’s trying to mimic the guy in one last desperate attempt to get you to reveal your location so he can get at least one kill. You can sort of tell when the goatman is talking because his mimicry isn’t perfect. He doesn’t inflect and emote the way the hiker does, something just feels “off” about it. If anything he sounds very frustrated and angry towards the player for tricking them.

He starts off slow with the mimicry, speaking slow as he learns how the Hiker speaks, hence the pauses between words, but at the end he has gotten good enough at copying the voice that he can speak at a normal rate. When you lead the hiker to tower 2, the goatman rushes ahead of the hiker and reaches the tower, only for it to be empty, hence why he is angry sounding. He then leaves for some reason (I'm guessing maybe to try to continue hunting the ranger?), allowing the hiker to reach the second tower and lock himself in

The goat man, initially was chasing the hiker but then decided to get the ranger as well. He was trying to chase the hiker to ranger tower so he could get the ranger’s location. You see the goat man was learning to imitate the hiker the whole time but needed more words and sentences to completely imitate the hiker. And by the end he was to able speak a full coherent conversation with the ranger using only words that the hiker has used during his ramblings. If you were leading the hiker to tower two, that was the creature deceptively pleading you to turn on your lights so he could atleast get to you. If you waited, the hiker would be able to enter the tower and you would just get the “thank you” that you goddamn deserved.

There is no hiker. The Goatman can mimic it's previous prey's voices, and it was using that ability to attempt to find the ranger and kill him.

This explains why the hiker seems to teleport to different locations. This is also why in the papers it states that either both you and the hiker died, one of you died or both of you lived. If the goat man was the only one there the report would only say something about you dying or living and reporting a strange call over the radio.

If you don't understand a lot of the story, I advise reading some of the other comments. Pretty much, the Goatman is both following and posing as the Hiker (mimicking his voice) to try to get to you so that he can kill you. By leading the Hiker to your Tower (Tower 4), you lead the Goatman to you as well, and he kills you. You get the good ending by leading the Hiker to Tower 2. Goatman doesn't think the ranger is there (the other ranger is sleeping), so he leaves. The Hiker reaches Tower 2 and is rescued.
You can tell Goatman from the Hiker via his voice: Goatman is lower, calmer, more ominous. He's the angry voice you hear during the good ending, asking where you are. The "Thank you!" at the end of the good ending is the real Hiker. The Hiker's voice is panicked, higher, more stressed out.

In the last one the one who said "JUST SHOW ME WHERE YOU ARE, THAT I AM NOT ALONE HERE IN THE WOODS" is the goatman. The goat is speaking the slowly calm voice to think that is his only voice while he can actually speak english fluently the "Thank you" at the end is the hiker.
The tower 1 ranger is leading the hiker to the other tower (which is the tower 2 ranger that is asleep) the goatman is angry because the lights are off the goatman thinks there is no ranger there thinking its empty but actually the tower ranger 2 is asleep thats why the goatman got furious and gone away and the real hiker got found by the ranger 2 and in the end he said "thank you"

•Goatman can mimic voices, he mimicked the voice of the lost hiker in the video
•You can differentiate the hiker and the goatman from the different pitches of voice. the more panicked and high pitched one is the hiker. the lower pitched and more ominous/threatening sounding one is the goatman
•First ending; Hiker dies/disappears
•Second ending; You die. The hiker reaches the second tower AT THE END when he says “thank you!” and the goatman is outside your door. This is possible because the goatman’s insanely fast and got to the second tower first, which explains how he got to your tower so fast right after checking in on the intercom and why he said the lights were extremely bright. The hiker got there so late because, well, it’s human and can only get to places at reasonable speeds. The reason why the goatman said the tower was empty was because the watchtower guy in that one was either asleep since it’s inferred that watchtowers have beds and each watchman takes alternating night shifts or he left the forest which seems possible but less likely. The Goatman probably didn’t see lights on in the second tower/any activity since the guy’s asleep and assumed it was empty.
•Third ending; you both die. You led the hiker to your watchtower, thus leading the goatman to your tower as well which was the goatman’s main objective.
•Fourth ending;
•In case it wasn’t clear, the Goatman’s goal is to eliminate everyone from the forest for whatever reason
•Goatman’s fast as fuck because of video game logic. Inhuman beings have inhuman abilities
•The goatman is impersonating the hiker when he went on his “Show me where you are” ramble. That’s how GM found you in the third ending because you obeyed what he told you to do
•In the 4th ending I guess he just got mad and fucked off in attempt to look for you
•GM was looking for you (probably) because you were close to uncovering shit about him based on the bulletin board with a bunch of articles and stuff

People keep calling it a goatman, but it seems more like a classic Wendigo to me? Super fast, super strong humanoid with the ability to mimic human voices and a hunger for flesh. I think they're usually portrayed with some sort of horns or antlers, unlike what they did in Until Dawn.
Eddy Mercan kinda, but there is a legend (there’s multiple if ya didn’t know) where the goatman does similar things to the typical wendigo. So they might have used that legend’s goatman for the game.

I'll explain all these
Ending 1: You lead the hiker to the wrong path and he gets killed by Goatman, causing the hiker to die himself.
Ending 2: You lead the hiker to the other tower and he hides there, the Goatman already lost the hiker and he's trying to kill you so he mimics the voice of the hiker and asks you to show where you are, you turned on the lights causing the Goatman to come after you, resulting you to be killed.
Ending 3: You lead the Goatman to the other tower and the Goatman will try to mimic hikers voice again and try to get you to turn on the lights, if you didn't turn it on congrats! You both lived.
Ending 4: You lead the hiker to the wrong path and he gets killed first. He mimics his voice and if you turn on the lights you die too. You both die

the goatman's main purpose was to locate the park ranger(thats YOU!)
periodically, as observed and heard, it would say peculiar things that were no doubt questionable and definitely out of the ordinary. it did so so as to get the ranger to associate such statements to whatever else that was out there. unbeknownst to the ranger, even sane statements thought to be said by the lost hiker were actually voiced by the goatman.
the goatman's objective was to occasionally attempt to cover as the lost hiker so the ranger would lead it(the goatman) to his location. pretty smart move, there. that explains why sometimes the lost hiker JUMPED locations. NO, he didnt just teleport or fly or run through the woods and ended up in between the mine and the lake, but that was the goatman's location, not the hiker.
thats why on certain occasions when you thought the hiker was speaking, it was actually the goatman i.e when it claimed that the ranger had led *IT* to an empty tower. that is OBVIOUSLY false considering tower 2's ranger was asleep. now if you assume that tower 2 was empty because the ranger died to the goatman, well that's impossible because he's asleep and there's no way in hell he could've led the goatman to his location whilst deep in slumber.
i cant explain the eyes watching you though. now obviously if that was the goatman, then this whole theory is busted because then the goatman would know exactly where the player was to begin with
Ive been seeing a lot of videos and the closest explanation I have is that, the goatman was after the hiker first and then it found out about you and decides to go after you. The goatman is a genius because he pretends he can only talk is small words but he only talks like that so he can fool you. Tower 2 is most likely empty because in the ending the hiker is found in tower 2 and had to be removed for trespassing. In the end the desperate voice that tells you to open show him where he is, IS the GOAT MAN. He decides to go ahead of the hiker and rushes to tower 2, only to find it empty. And leaves and then eventually the hiker gets there. And he says "thank you" in the end.

If You Give The Goatman The RIGHT Directions To Your Tower, He'll Find The Hiker And Kill Him. If You Give Him The WRONG Directions And Lead Him To Tower 2, He'll Get Pissed And Asks You To Show Him Where You Are (Which You Shouldn't, And Don't Bother Turning On The Search Lights). After He Got Pissed, Just Wait For The Hiker. The Hiker Then Gets To YOUR Tower Safely Since You Lead The Goatman Far Away From Him.

Im kinda confused with the last ending...how can you differentiate the goatman from the hiker? Like i thought that the goatman was the monotone voice and we just help the hiker to tower 2 but then it ended up being the goatman that go into the tower? Im kinda confused.
I’m guessing that the voice that speaks slow and scary is goatman and the hiker says thank you because he basically sandbags the goatman onto you so it can eat you.
The goat man is able to *mimic* other people’s voices.
To get the good ending you have to lead the hiker to tower 2 where he will hide out and be safe from the goatman. The goatman was expecting to find you and/or the hiker at *your* tower, by following the hiker and listening to your instructions. goatman actually loses the hiker a few times throughout the hunt and listens to your conversation to help him get back on the right track.
When the hiker gets to the tower this throws the goatman off badly; he can’t find the hiker and he’s trying to mimic the guy in one last desperate attempt to get you to reveal your location so he can get at least one kill.
You can sort of tell when the goatman is talking because his mimicry isn’t perfect. He doesn’t inflect and emote the way the hiker does, something just feels “off” about it. If anything he sounds very frustrated and angry towards the player for tricking them.
@@MsScarletwings Yeah i get what you meant, but then 37:37 happened then everything just gets confusing. Cause this one was clearly upset and wants to find you while later the voice seems actually thankful so yeah.
@@yunantheobserver6841 the voice that seems upset would be the goatman. He starts off slow with the mimicry, speaking slow as he learns how the Hiker speaks, hence the pauses between words, but at the end he has gotten good enough at copying the voice that he can speak at a normal rate. When you lead the hiker to tower 2, the goatman rushes ahead of the hiker and reaches the tower, only for it to be empty, hence why he is angry sounding. He then leaves for some reason (I'm guessing maybe to try to continue hunting the ranger?), allowing the hiker to reach the second tower and lock himself in
