Well now, seems quite a few comments are about never seeing custard powder before, lol. I can add myself to that list as I've never seen it either, but thank you for the great recipe & will try to sub out w/instant pudding, cheers.
I didn't have any graham crackers so I substituted Biscoff cookies. I also didn't have custard powder, so substituted instant vanilla pudding powder, which seemed to work fine. This was amazing! I had never had Nanaimo Bars. Thank you for sharing! I made these at Christmas with my other goodies and my family loved these and begged for more! I will get some grahams and try to find some custard powder and make these properly next time. LOL
I've made this recipe in the past. I used French vanilla pudding mix when available. Plain vanilla will work if you can't find it. These are delicious. Definitely try them!
I've never heard of this or custard powder. How is custard powder commonly used? We surely don't have custard powder in the southern USA. Maybe you can find the powder in other parts of the States.
My mother made something similar called ice box cake. It was really good . Childhood memories .

Yeah, it's weird how some of these ingredients are hard to find...pudding mix should be great though

We used to crush up digestives and add chocolate and put in the fridge in a similar way.

I’ve heard of it before but have never had it.
Excellent, def give them a try...they are delicious
Looks and sounds amazing! Recorded the needed ingredients for my next grocery shopping trip. Have you ever veganized this recipe?
I havent before...but im sure it would be easy to do and shouldn't affect anything
I've never heard of this or custard powder. Think we would have to substitute jello vanilla pudding
Yes, that would be a great idea
Those look really good but I have never seen custard powder before in any of our stores. Could you substitute something else for the custard powder? 😊
You could try it with instant vanilla pudding mix
