Some of the biggest free to play games, namely Fortnite and Warzone, have been thriving the past few years off of their crossovers with other IP. I wonder how much it would've helped XDefiant to lean into that and take greater advantage of Ubisoft's IP. Like, have events where players can earn or buy an Aiden Pearce skin for their Watch Dogs faction operators. Or Sam Fisher for the Ghost Recon faction. Some recognizable Siege operators for the R6 faction. And of course down the line Ezio, Altair, etc for the AC faction, or Rex Power Colt for the Blood Dragon faction. You've got all these tie-ins with recognizable and beloved games but you don't have us playing as characters that we know or care about. That alone probably wouldn't have saved the game, but I'd be willing to bet it'd get more attention on XDefiant and bring in enough numbers to justify keeping the game alive for at least another 6 months, if not a full year or more.
maybe the lesson here is this "Stop trying to drip feed content and just make your product good". This piecemeal nonsense when they don't even know if they will have a continuation, isn't good for anyone. More so because in order to have content to drip feed, it means making the initial content very shallow and unsatisfying. It's basically selling a half finished product, so you can sell the other half later at an additional cost. It's the subscription model that they're trying to push into every part of entertainment...that is the problem. Unfortunately gamers courage this garbage as well by cheering on live service. Live service was never meant to be use this way. It was supposed to be for updating a completed product, not selling a bad or incomplete product and then sell the missing features.
Yeah I'm not into shooters either. I hope your weekend is going well. But it's interesting to see the state of the gaming world nowadays. 2025 will be an interesting year.
It's crazy how Skull and Bones is getting another year of support, but this game isn't. Other than the progression being reaaaaallly slow and the hit reg being bad at the start, this game seemed to have a lot of potential. The dev team also were very communicative with the community. Not saying that the game was amazing, but I think it deserved another chance
When Ubisoft said they would have several franchises, I thought we would also play with their characters, but no, they are just cosplayers 🤦🏾♂️. How do these guys get the basics wrong?? Obviously?? It's not possible, there is someone inside trying to destroy the company. Maybe Ac Valhalla made an analogy with the king destroying the order because those are some very amateur mistakes, man. It's like Marvel Rivals but without the characters we know and instead a people who support it, who dress the same, man 🤷🏾♂️
Hopefully between shutting down The Crew, XDefiant and their issues with Skull&Bones they learn live service games are not worth the hassle, Rainbow Six and The Division are enough, and give up on any plans for an Assassin's Creed live service game. Ubisoft needs to double down on single player experiences and make those the best the can.
I've never seen a company been spread so thin on so many projects at once. They really should've focused on Shadows and outlaws and worried about everything else after. Focus on the big releases, make money then make other stuff. Shadows also needs a demo. We really need to see what to expect from it cuz select footage a month and a half out isn't doing any favors
Even though i wasn't personally interested in Xdefiant, i am sad its closing. I use to play Call of Duty alot and that franchise desperately needed competition to motivate Activision to do better. So i was happy when Ubisoft had a competitor. It lacked alot of the charm though that appealed to me about classic CoD, so it wasn't for me. But i saw others enjoying it when it first released. I guess it couldn't keep their attention.
I try the game on ps5 but the m&k support was not there! So uninstalling next minute. When i asked ubisoft when this promised future was going to be there they told me they are NOT busy with that 😂 when i started gaming ons ps4 i loved ibisoft games, now few years later it's the opposite! Will always wait for reviews and no pre orders anymore
One thing amazing about Ubisoft is there support for there games are excellent they never give up. Look at outlaws now it's much better than it first was. But now they gotta polish fully before release to meet today's standards And get the rep back over time
People don't have time to play multiple live service games.

Why Xdefiant really needed was a Na'vi faction

Still baffles me how this is getting shut down it was going well?
WTF so weird, sad to see this one die. But Ubi needs to learn a hard lesson here, whatever that may be ;)
