In that case you should check out her two previous bands, After Forever and ReVamp, as well. Floor's early work does not get enough attention IMHO--it's like nobody realizes she had already been doing metal for FOURTEEN YEARS before joining Nightwish.

Marco is amazing. Try out the beautiful song he's the sole vocal on.... While Your Lips Are Still Red featured on a film Lieksa. Just shows he's a great singer. Also he features heavily in The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean - amazing song. Also love your reaction to Noise and also Weak Fantasy. Floor is truly incredible. Check her out with her cover of Phantom of the Opera a very different take on her performance.

I don't think Nightwish have done a live concert performance with an orchestra, but a number of other symphonic metal groups have, Epica and Within Temptation being two which spring to mind.
While Nightwish does use orchestra, it is pre recorded and used in the background. Even the instrumental and orchestra parts ARE live recordings of professional choirs and instrumental groups, not digitally made. I am not sure why they never really went for the live on stage, would make it even more epic. lol.
@@vir9002 As far as I know Nightwish said that touring with a real orchestra is kind of complicated. Epica and Within Temptation did it but, only in The Netherlands. Touring isn't that easy with an orchestra.
This song really takes off at the triple punch of the quiet bit, key change and double time. And then Floor and Marco belt simultaneously. That's powerful stuff.
The performance at Hellfest on the w/e was very nearly as good..IMHO. This band are still very much in their prime. (even without Marco). Check out Hellfest...you'll love it.
That final chorus is really something, isn't it? Going up a step melodically with Jukka's double kicks certainly works for me. This is yet another true Nightwish classic that Floor has made her own. Tuomas “metal mozart” is composing/recording all the symphonic stuff with real orchestra’s (like the London Philharmonic) so he does not need an orchestra on stage. For Floor’s former bands After Forever an Revamp it just would have been too expensive. But Epica did to celebrate their 10th anniversary and they did 2 great songs with their singer Simone Simons and Floor Jansen: Sancta Terra and Stabat Mater, a must see! Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. People were ALWAYS commenting about Floor's hair blowing in the breeze, all she has to do is walk. So as a gag, one of the guys recorded her just walking in the supermarket, pushing a cart around. It's only a few seconds long but it proves the point. I do not know where to find that video though. :P

It's a FLOORFAN!!! 🤣 Nightwish just did Hellfest in France - and that 90 minutes show were on the same level as Wacken 2013 - when Floor is in THAT mood, nothing comes even close to Nightwish. The whole concert is on YT - and yes Floor is bar far the greatest storyteller, vocalist and front stage performer ever. And NO, Nightwish have never done an orchestral performance - and they probably never will, according to Tuomas. Hey, always good to watch a performance of Floor in her former band Revamp. For me is the song Disdain the best . A ‘ angry’ blond, growling Floor, a total different site of Floor and a great band.

Nightwish has not played live with an orchestra, although they work with a London Symphony and choirs to make tracks to mix for studio and stage performances. Now Floor with an Orchestra, check out her guest performance with Epica onstage with an orchestra. One song with Floor singing a duet with only the orchestra. Watch her acknowledge the conductor and even curtsey to him at the end. I heard something about her singing her new single Storm with an orchestra of military vets just recently. Haven't seen it yet.
Yes, there is a fan in front of her. Probably helps keep her cool, but I believe it's to keep her mascara from running. Floor has said that this song is one of the more challenging for her to sing. Anette is the second singer (Tatiana is with Jinjer) . For her I would go with the music video for either 'Bye Bye Beautiful' or 'Amaranth'. (you've heard Floor sing Amaranth) Next song with Floor, I would go with 'Song of Myself' from Wacken (Vah-ken) And Yes, Within Temptation is another good band to check out. My favorite of theirs is 'Ice Queen'. Lead singer is Sharon Den Adel.

Floor doesn't float...she drives a Chevy pickup truck! Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah) is a classically trained guitarist, bassist, songwriter and incredible vocalist both solo and in harmony. If you read your comments, you'd know this by now. You really should know this by now. So happy you love Floor so much! I recently caught a new reactor seeing Ghost Love Score for the first time...he got a minute in, then paused with tears in his eyes and declared, "she's the reason aliens visit earth!" Which was so damn funny but spot on and heartfelt!
Nightwish's Wacken 2013 is a justifiably epic live performance. However over the last 10 years Nightwish has continued to evolve and mature into an even more amazing band with their last album Human Nature ,their best in my opinion. It is worth going through each song in order, especially since the album was released right before the pandemic and because they couldn't tour in support of the album they released lyric videos (really full blown music videos with lyrics) for each song except Noise which they did an official music video for. Disc 2 is a 30 minute orchestral piece composed by Tuomas that is just gorgeous and should be viewed in a video made by Sensei Music Videos that Tuomas has blessed. Also worth checking out is their live performance from Hellfest that ARTE streamed and has posted on YT. Really shows how powerful they still are. Nightwish has never performed with a live orchestra. Floor has done a few performances with live orchestral groups. Would make a nice double reaction with the original. She also performed Sound of the Wind from the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles video game with the Metropole Orchestra. The stellar thing about Floor is really the breath of her abilities. Will you find a better operatic singer than her? Most probably. Will you find a better growler? Definetly. Will you find a better belting range with that much volume behind it? Already difficult, Floors belting quality and stamina is insane. Will you be able to find another person that does all of this that well and can switch between all techniques in a split second? Very, very hard. I haven't heard anyone yet. And then she adds in that insane stage presence and feeling in her voice. Not just technique, but real entertainment. Taken all of this together, she is firmly in the camp of the best live performers that I ever had the priviledge to witness. And yes, quite objectively, I think you can make an argument is she currently is the best all-around musical performer alive right now. And above all that , she is a truly humble human being.
Epica did a live 'Retrospect' concert with a live orchestra and the singer SImone, a long time friend of Floor's, invited her to sing duets on two songs. One with Epica and the orchestra "Sancta Terra" and one with the orchestra only "Stabat Mater Delarosa". Both are fantastic.

If you want some extra variations, I recomend the first lead singer, Tarja Turunen. There is a really classical of hers in the concert End of An Era performing The Phantom of the Opera. Another take should be Sancta Terra (from Epica) with the special participation of Floor Jansen. And also, The Greatest Show on Earth from the concert in Tampere. And to finish the journey, The Poet and The Pendulum from the Wembley concert.

No, Nightwish have never performed with a live orchestra present. Ironically I first came across their music when my son was playing in a youth orchestra appearing with a youth rock band and they did a Nightwish cover! It was my favourite piece from that evening. In other news, Within Temptation are also very much worth reacting to!
Annette is almost criminally underrated and is damn good - just not quite one to be in that GOAT conversation. Her voice is piercing and easily heard through the music, especially on the high notes, and she plays with vowels well. I'd recommend official videos for her such as Amaranth or Bye Bye, Beautiful. She also did a neat Halloween special worth viewing.
Well, if you’re looking for operatic performances from Floor, may I recommend Ad Astra live on Nightwish’s 2022 tour. I saw two shows and both performances made me cry. For a performance from Floor with a hard rock/metal band, an orchestra, and a choir, I suggest you check out Sancta Terra. It was a guest spot with Epica and her duet with Simone Simons was legend.

Yes, the studio version of "Ever Dream" is quite boring and skippable. I was very pleasantly surprised by this big symphonic version!

Also he features heavily in The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean - amazing song. Also love your reaction to Noise and also Weak Fantasy. Floor is truly incredible. Check her out with her cover of Phantom of the Opera a very different take on her performance.

I don't think Nightwish have done a live concert performance with an orchestra, but a number of other symphonic metal groups have, Epica and Within Temptation being two which spring to mind.
While Nightwish does use orchestra, it is pre recorded and used in the background. Even the instrumental and orchestra parts ARE live recordings of professional choirs and instrumental groups, not digitally made. I am not sure why they never really went for the live on stage, would make it even more epic. lol.

Epica and Within Temptation did it but, only in The Netherlands. Touring isn't that easy with an orchestra.

That final chorus is really something, isn't it? Going up a step melodically with Jukka's double kicks certainly works for me. This is yet another true Nightwish classic that Floor has made her own. Tuomas “metal mozart” is composing/recording all the symphonic stuff with real orchestra’s (like the London Philharmonic) so he does not need an orchestra on stage. For Floor’s former bands After Forever an Revamp it just would have been too expensive. But Epica did to celebrate their 10th anniversary and they did 2 great songs with their singer Simone Simons and Floor Jansen: Sancta Terra and Stabat Mater, a must see!

I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja )
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

People were ALWAYS commenting about Floor's hair blowing in the breeze, all she has to do is walk. So as a gag, one of the guys recorded her just walking in the supermarket, pushing a cart around. It's only a few seconds long but it proves the point. I do not know where to find that video though. :P

Nightwish just did Hellfest in France - and that 90 minutes show were on the same level as Wacken 2013 - when Floor is in THAT mood, nothing comes even close to Nightwish.
The whole concert is on YT - and yes Floor is bar far the greatest storyteller, vocalist and front stage performer ever.
And NO, Nightwish have never done an orchestral performance - and they probably never will, according to Tuomas.

I don’t think Nightwish have done a live show with an orchestra, but I’m pretty sure Floor’s fist band After Forever performed live with at least a string section on occasion.
You still have to look at Wembley, Tampere, Buenos Aires, Pinkpop, Hellfest, Beste Zangers, Areyon, guest at Epica, Sing Meinem Song, Nordward etc. Not to mention her own shows in the Netherlands.
You want to see floor singing with a full orchestra? Then check out:- 'Sancta Terra' where she guests with the band Epica, duetting with Simone Simons (amazing!)... then there is 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' also with Epica, (same concert?). Then there is Floor singing in a tv studio a Puccini aria with piano accompaniment 'O Mio Babbino Cara'.
Wanna hear the bassist sing a song: Kiss when your lips are still red, live in London, another completely different and surprising Nightwish song. This London concert is better than the Wacken concert....I think;-) Fine reaction, thanks. And the Tampere concert is also stunning.

Nightwish has not played live with an orchestra, although they work with a London Symphony and choirs to make tracks to mix for studio and stage performances. Now Floor with an Orchestra, check out her guest performance with Epica onstage with an orchestra. One song with Floor singing a duet with only the orchestra. Watch her acknowledge the conductor and even curtsey to him at the end. I heard something about her singing her new single Storm with an orchestra of military vets just recently. Haven't seen it yet.

So happy you love Floor so much! I recently caught a new reactor seeing Ghost Love Score for the first time...he got a minute in, then paused with tears in his eyes and declared, "she's the reason aliens visit earth!" Which was so damn funny but spot on and heartfelt!

Nightwish's Wacken 2013 is a justifiably epic live performance. However over the last 10 years Nightwish has continued to evolve and mature into an even more amazing band with their last album Human Nature ,their best in my opinion. It is worth going through each song in order, especially since the album was released right before the pandemic and because they couldn't tour in support of the album they released lyric videos (really full blown music videos with lyrics) for each song except Noise which they did an official music video for. Disc 2 is a 30 minute orchestral piece composed by Tuomas that is just gorgeous and should be viewed in a video made by Sensei Music Videos that Tuomas has blessed. Also worth checking out is their live performance from Hellfest that ARTE streamed and has posted on YT. Really shows how powerful they still are. Nightwish has never performed with a live orchestra. Floor has done a few performances with live orchestral groups. The stellar thing about Floor is really the breath of her abilities.
Will you find a better operatic singer than her? Most probably. Will you find a better growler? Definetly.
Will you find a better belting range with that much volume behind it? Already difficult, Floors belting quality and stamina is insane.
Will you be able to find another person that does all of this that well and can switch between all techniques in a split second? Very, very hard. I haven't heard anyone yet.
And then she adds in that insane stage presence and feeling in her voice. Not just technique, but real entertainment.
Taken all of this together, she is firmly in the camp of the best live performers that I ever had the priviledge to witness.
And yes, quite objectively, I think you can make an argument is she currently is the best all-around musical performer alive right now.
And above all that , she is a truly humble human being.
We have something common. I like Nightwish as you do, but I am 70 years old and live in Finland. Nightwish is the ultimate best live band on earth.
Rather than decide which songs to pick to react to from that concert, just do a mega reaction to the whole set! It's an epic show

Epica did a live 'Retrospect' concert with a live orchestra and the singer SImone, a long time friend of Floor's, invited her to sing duets on two songs. One with Epica and the orchestra "Sancta Terra" and one with the orchestra only "Stabat Mater Delarosa". Both are fantastic.

I am a Sabaton fan but I also love Nightwish they are a fantastic live band with the greatest female singer of all time in my opinion. She has the stage presence like the legendary Freddie Mercury. Floor has the fans wrapped around her little finger just like the greatest Male singer and showman the legend that is Freddie Mercury. Toumas is a musical and writing genius, the man is the new Beethoven. Floor Jansen is a very beautiful woman and very fit with the most beautiful voice in the world, her husband Hannes van Dahl who is the drummer of Sabaton is a very lucky man. No, Nightwish have never performed with a live orchestra present. Ironically I first came across their music when my son was playing in a youth orchestra appearing with a youth rock band and they did a Nightwish cover! It was my favourite piece from that evening. In other news, Within Temptation are also very much worth reacting to!

Annette is almost criminally underrated and is damn good - just not quite one to be in that GOAT conversation. Her voice is piercing and easily heard through the music, especially on the high notes, and she plays with vowels well.
I'd recommend official videos for her such as Amaranth or Bye Bye, Beautiful. She also did a neat Halloween special worth viewing.
They never done it but Epica , within temptation , Dimmu Borgir , and of course METALLICA done it before and it is amazing experience
Well, if you’re looking for operatic performances from Floor, may I recommend Ad Astra live on Nightwish’s 2022 tour. I saw two shows and both performances made me cry. For a performance from Floor with a hard rock/metal band, an orchestra, and a choir, I suggest you check out Sancta Terra. It was a guest spot with Epica and her duet with Simone Simons was legend.
