    I had buddies who owed me favors help pour my shop floor. Needless to say, the floor is not exactly level. Looks like the car would roll away from me with the better Dollie! Thanks for these reviews. Love the new shop and floor!

    great video when i originally saw those harbor freight units in my hands i knew the casters were an issue and you just proved it. we have been using go jacks since the 90s and they were invented and made about 40 min away from me.

    Those are old harbor frieght units. thbe modern ones are from Pittsburgh not us general and use the same systems as the name brand gojacks. The price they quoted is low (more like $240 each)and is for 1 jack not the set. the go jack set with that caddy is $999 vs $89 each for the harbor freight ones

      As a tow truck operator, from experience, the HF ones actually work better and are holding up better than the go jack set. The go jack caster wheels are brittle as hell. HF wins this one.

    I have huge truck tires 37"x13.50" x22" mounted on 22"x14" wheels and they're so heavy to lift back on the wheel hub when rotating tires. Can I use the dolly to just hold the wheel and then slide it into position on the hub for remounting?

  • @iznogudsurfer5911

    The problem is that the axles of the wheels are not vertical, so they don't want to turn on their own axis.
    The mounts have bent under the weight of the vehicle.
    You have to reinforce the mounts to make them work better.
    Unfortunately, the contact surface of the steel wheels is too large on slightly flexible plastic floors.

    Ok so I'm the one today with the weird question about this product cuz we always need one you know. Can you buy only two of these and push for instance the back of the vehicle sideways like 6 to 12 inches? I need to clear only the back of the car by moving it sideways so I can access the rest of the garage, since the garage door is way on the left and the end of the garage not deep enough to go front and back less then 50 times..

  • @Comm0ut
    @Comm0ut 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most users can do basic fab and there are ways to source other casters but if I had to use Harbor Freight dollies I'd anchor (more) deadmen for snatch blocks to my floor (I already have one to winch vehicles into my shop from outside my shop using my truck winch) then drag whatever I wanted to move at the push of a button. (Even little winches work but I use RE8000s bought cheap as noobs fry the motors from undercurrent and motors are cheap.) If your snatch blocks have chains you can drill some heavy angle for bolt holes and notch it for chain with an angle grinder/torch/plasma cutter. If you prefer D-rings those are inexpensive and easy to weld or have welded to ~1/4" or thicker flat bar or angle. With or without dollies being able to winch (anything) around the shop floor can be insanely convenient. I have a bad bad so no car pushing for me. Aramid rope is lightweight and easier to handle than wire rope if you prefer that, and you can pull without a winch by using sections of either rope with loops on the end then connecting with shackles or whatever. I do that with my winches too when dragging stuff that may get caught like trees. Wheels + winches (including manual winches of many types) are wonderful and more car peeps should play with them.

    I've got two different style of the harbor freight ones. They both suck. They don't always want to work. I've had them release on me, with a loud bang when trying to lift a vehicle or move a vehicle. They just don't want to roll easily with weight on them. But I'm stuck with them because I can't afford the Go-Jacks.

  • @xlrationmarine

    I dun bought me some!!!
    I bought the ones from harbor freight, $109.00 each. They had three in store, I just bought 2 I thought it would be enough to get a boat turned around by my garage. It proved to be a pain in the ass. I bought two more online, it was cheaper, same 109 price, with a lower tax rate online and 7 bucks for shipping, and I didn’t have to drive after them.
    I put them under a 21 Gambler bass boat. Once I pulled the boat out (hf trailer dolly) I put the jacks under all 4. I leaned up against the ass end of the boat and away it went. It was a piece of cake, didn’t take the wheels off to grease them up, out of the box the worked.
