  • In this video I'm showing 3 perennials that bloom first in the garden - for sunny spot, shade and semi shade - garden walk with a lot of plant names
    0:00 -INTRO
    0:49 TULIPS ARE BLOOMING
    2:03 BRUNNERA
    6:30 DICENTRA - BLEEDING HEART
    8:34 MOSS PHLOX /CREEPING PHLOX
    12:08 ENDING
BRUNNERA Heart-shaped, thin-textured leaves marked or overlaid with silver. Beautiful forget-me-not-lik flowers, appear in mid- to late spring, blooming for 3 weeks in our garden The foliage dies back in winter. Loves semi shade, rich soil.
My faves: Jack Frost, Silver Heart, Sea Heart
DICENTRA Fern like foliage, beautiful heart shape blooms. Loves rich soils, neutral to slightly alkaline. If kept well watered will hold its leaves for longer.
    My fave: Gold Heart
MOSS PHLOX / CREEPING PHLOX alpine, loves super well drained soil and full sun.

Hi Marta, greetings from Gotland, Sweden and we have also had unusual cold and windy weather here, I’ve had to cover a lot of beds with frost cloth for almost 4 weeks now.
Bunnera Jack Frost and green brunnera have a given place in my garden, right now they are blooming with narcissus Fragrant spring, a pale yellow, double very fragrant flower. Love them together!

I live in Zone 9b in Northern California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The first perennials to bloom are hellebore and Veronica 'Georgia Blue'. This is a groundcover with sapphire blue flowers. It's not the Veronica that has the flower spires. It cascades over a South facing stone wall and is impervious to our triple digit summers. One of my favorites. We're still very cold here. We would normally be in the upper 80's Fahrenheit, but it's been a very strange winter and spring and is currently only in the 50's. Your garden is lovely.

Hellebores are one of my fav perennials! Such long period of blooming! Hoping for warmer weather for both of us! We had a very cold night here today, almost freezing temps! 🙈🙈

Thank you for ideas, there's a lot of shade in my garden. I got brunnera from my neighbors, it got through fence by itself, so I transfered it in autumn to another place, no i have 2 of them

Marto, mogę polecić Ci miodunkę. To wspaniała bylina kwitnąca wczesną wiosną i przyciągająca zapylacze. Do końca sezonu jest ozdoba są liście.
Masz cudny ogród, który daje mi wiele inspiracji do działania w moim ogródku. Gratuluje - angielski kanał jest chyba jeszcze lepszy niż polski😀

Hi Martha. I live in Minnesota zone 4. Love your garden and how you pair them with other plants. I am inspired to add more brunneras in my garden. Love the repetition for a big impact in the garden.

Hi, if you like chartrouse, consider planting euphorbia wulfenii. It thrives in sun and poor soil. It should be good cut flower too, but be aware that the sap can irrirate the skin. Greetings from Slovakia, zone 6b.

I love that plant- seen so many in UK. It tends to get nipped by frost here.

Hi! Do you leave your tulip bulbs in the ground all year? Or should I dig them up and replant? I live in zone 8

How do u clean the leaves and tree debris out of your gravel? It’s
beautiful but we have a huge canopy of mature trees and so much debris falls.

I have a question. If brunneras like shade/semi shade, how come you pair them with catmint or alliums? These like like full sun, yes?

    • @GardenwithMarta
      @GardenwithMarta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Alliums and catmint perform really well In semi shade(they get around 5-6h of sun and bloom just fine)
