Kris history is generally traced through the study of carvings and bas-relief panels found in Java, Indonesia. Some of the most famous renderings of a kris appear on the bas-reliefs of Borobudur (825) and Prambanan temple (850), originated from Hindu-Buddhist Medang Mataram Kingdom of Central Java
Kalau di indonesia keris tidak di gunakan untuk aksi /pertunjukan. Tapi kita mempelajari makna yang lebih dalam akan filosofi keris di dalam hidup.
suro menggolo Perang Jawa yang dipimpin Pangeran Diponegoro melawan Belanda juga masih pakai keris, dan juga waktu perang Surabaya 10 November 1945 melawan Inggris juga ada beberapa rakyat yang memakai Keris. Ada banyak fungsi keris di Indonesia.

Kenapa? Karna memang desainnya tidak memungkinkan untuk sword fighting atau bisa dibilang keris adalah belati besar, kalo dipakai buat menebas atau mengelak pedang patah dan tidak efektif..

I hope there will be more interest in the kris/keris by younger people.There is a lot of great history and mystic to it. In the Netherlands they had a tv series called the kris pusaka back in the 1970s. Since then it seems no one gives anything about krisses anymore. I know a fellow Indo who still has a family kris, but she believes it is cursed since they forgot to clean it for the ritual and now it is stored away on the attic and it is locked. I can immagine that with help of pop culture movies and whatever about the mystic of the kris a new interest can be found.

kris is indigenous culture of java indonesia, then kris culture spread to the surrounding area, the areas influenced by kingdom of java, the area finally come to make keris with their own style, like malaysia, and south philipina. kris is the original property of the kingdom in Java, there is a detailed explanation in each part of kris and philosophy that kris does not have other countries, because it uses the Java language. like toyota car you can have toyota, make it yourself at the factory in your country, but toyota, keep brand japan! understand?!
Andy Prast keris existed before ankorwat and burobudur.. in that time no jawa. just majapahit and malacca empire.. these two have same weapon keris. keris is more way old ancient weapon.. we know how old that jawa exist, but keris weapon is more old then that.. for me keris is more misterios weapon . since jawa is my family.
If you learn better about geography, mojopahit center is in eastern Java precisely mojokerto, java. In southern Philippines there is silat the name of the Kali, which they admit is taught by warriors majapahit, if you will understand the kris, in kris there is anatomy keris called rincikan, there gonjo, lambe gajah, jalen, odo-odo .. etc. all in java language. it's like ak47 from soviet, china and some countries make it. But ak47 remains original from soviet / russia today. kris is the original culture of Java (even before the kingdom of majapahit, such as singosari, etc) that spread to the archipelago called nusantara, with the culture influenced local, with variations, there kris makasar, melayu, moro, etc.

Indonesia its real culture of keris . Very much keris pamor and dhapur keris in indonesia. Kingdom of majapahit.mataram .kediri.galuh.pajajaran. and many more. Its old keris. Maked by spirit and power of soul. Empu its maker. Sory my language so bad
@@user-ym3po9gu4e I don't necessarily agree with that Toyota (as Toyota is clearly a Japanese vehicle brand and other countries cannot copy and modify the brand as they like due to copyright but the kris was modified in different regions of the Malay / Indonesian Archipelago), as is it not really a good example, but I do agree with Om Prast that the kris (or 'keris' as it is spelt in Malay and Indonesian) originated on the island of Java before spreading to neighbouring islands in the archipelago.

It originally was javanese but spread to places like sulawesi and semenanjung malaysia through trade and war.

@Jacky Phantom no they are two very different races. a malay cant write aksara or speak javanese. neither can a javanese speak or write jawi malay.

@Fernandez Martinez Hahaha..you can prove the keris comes from Kedah? ... or just admit without any basis. The Keris is a UNESCO Herritage from Java, the proof is seeing the carved reliefs of the 8th century Borobudur temple and Sukuh temple
@Fernandez Martinez Temple ditapak 55 Lembah Bujang was built in the 11th century, the oldest is only a one-sided recognition from Malaysian archaeologists, because the evidence is still very minimal. Borobudur Temple is not the oldest Buddhist temple ... but the largest in the world and is one of the 7 wonders of the world. Lembah Bujang temple is only ruins. Read the historical literature of the origin of the keris comes from ... which is clearly a UNESCO Heritage Keris originated from Java. Langkasuka Kingdom, Kedah was under the authority of Srivijaya from the 8th century and that is a historical fact

Keris is Indonesian cultural heritage, not Malaysia
Acknowledging is the best method to a harmonious world. It's not like we claim keris just recently, it has been in our culture for generations because we both might be from the same ancestry. My mom is minang and my father is banjar unfortunately my great great great great grandparents are from Indonesia which at that time Indonesia neither nor Malaysia existed. So chill the f out.
