They choose to bring there things to a pawn shop. If they decide to sell at the price offered it's only their fault
They always low ball. They ask how much they're trying to get before they call the expert and then the experts price is magically just below what the person wanted.

I don't know if someome had already mention it in early comment, but actually it called TOMBAK KERIS. Tombak means spear. Keris means curved, revered to it sharp part that curved. So Tombak Keris means Curved Spear.
It actualy rare to see one, couse keris is commonly shape as a knive or sword.
In the history, keris is always made by somekind of spiritual leader called Empu/Mpu, famous one is Empu/Mpu Gandring

It's the opposite, it was believe to bring you (and your family) protection from bad luck. The correct word would be "Tombak" literally mean "Spear" with kriss spearhead, we called this "keris tombak" (spear kriss). Old kriss usually made from meteorite, so it was thought as a gift from heaven (falling from the sky).

I have a collection with around 100 Indonesian keris. I often sell some of them and buy some new ones at an auction, but I never experienced bad luck by selling them. I have some keris that give you goosebumps when you take them out of the warangka, but never had bad luck.

in making of keris the keris maker (called Empu) was not for economic purposes but at the request of the king at the time to describe an event or as an inscription for a particular event.
it's like an airplane blackbox that records certain events. Many people here can talk to it and the keris tells what happened at that time.

This was a straight up scam. That poor guy got ripped off to no end. I sold one like that, in much worse condition (with roughly same gemstones) for 8 grand, to a re-seller who knew he'd get 15k+ in auction. Cory knew damn well the materials alone were worth more.

The amount of people who don’t realise why any pawn shop have to leave enough room for a profit is too damn high, they’re buying unwanted shit for instant cash that item would be sat on display for then probably a good couple of months, then there’s a salary they have to take into account. As someone who worked in shops that brought second hand entertainment stuff we give quick and easy cash, don’t like it then sell privately

Yes it's rare and the damascus steel weren't made for more than a century at least from where I came from...he maybe got haunted by the dweller from the kris so he don't care about the resale price anymore as long as he can get rid of it...also that kris is well made so it's very uncommon for it to not having any black magic done to it

'A what?' Actually a Tombak is a lance, this one happens to be wavy like a keris. Tombaks predate keris and other tosan ajih by a long time. It looks as if it was made in Eastern Java, but could be from Bali or Lombok as well because of the sapphire adornment. Luk tiga pulus, 13 waves makes it a high status Tombak with a possible kulit semangka pamor bringing good luck. The pamor exclusiveness, state and age (of the blade!) decides the value. Probably from the 17th century. The price is reasonable while rarer types do exist.

But, you need to hold it with the sarung keris to make it stand. If the keris can stand without being hold with the sarung, it may have something else inside it.

My dad is from java, and he tell me story that when he was young, he and his friend found small kriss(+-10 cm) near a river and my dad took it and put it in his wardrobe. at midnight that wardrobe shaking really hard like there's someone/something trying really hard to get out. It really terrify my dad, and he couldn't sleep or brave enough to find out what happen. In the morning he tell his friend about what happen and they decide to put the kriss inside a wardrobe in small mosque across the street(beside his friend house). And the next morning his friend with really pale face told my father that he hear loud and constant banging sound from the mosque, the weird thing is nobody else seemsto hear that sound.
