Came here straight after seeing the accidental Half PB - Bro is on another level rn 📈 Also the prizes you get in Japanese races are epic, you've got so many cool items from races now. The recovery plasters you were talking about are called "shippu" (しっぷ)
The Japanese guru - thank you sensei 🎌 It’s so random you just never know what’s gonna be in those prize bags! Gotta love it. I’ve still not checked out what I got from that half yesterday but I’ll get the unboxing on cam 🫡
These vids have become apart my routine. I very much an amateur runner myself (who wishes he could run fast) so I live vicariously through your speedy vids 😂. Keep up the good work brother!
I fucking love that you're out here doing these crazy training experiments on yourself to see how far you can go - the passion is unreal. Welcome back Arthur lydiard
Back after a Sunday long run in Blighty to see the Nippon-Carthorse turn into a rocketship 🚀 great stuff again, Jake. Those gift bags are really nice! 頑張る 👊🏻
Good to see the non-stop work and tackling of multiple races! Also great point mentioned in the previous video, about cutting out alcohol. We know it has the effect of thinning blood, which is the exact opposite of what we want during training. Less red blood cells = less oxygen! Much easier to get volume in and recover without it.
Yeah man!! Great momentum! Greetings from a beginner runner heavyweight slowpoke in Kansai! My goal is to hit a 1:30 half this spring, so you’re in a different league, but I’ve been loving all your energizing content!
Amazing running Jake. I keep asking myself ‘how is this possible!’ I’ve never seen any pro runners train and race like you. 50k PB and a few days later half marathon PB. Week after week smashing it out. I’m just loving watching your journey!
Urea cream is for the feet. It may sound weird, but soldiers are taught to pee on their feet to avoid fungal infections. So the urea cream is a cleaner way of doing the same thing. The cream also softens dry skin, and could potentially be used to avoid blisters.
I would like to congratulate you for your channel with very good insight and lessons about running! You mentioned Shideru Soh's training could you speak a bit more about his work I tried to find something on the internet but didn't have much luck... Another question is it you that programs your training?
Thanks mate! Yeah I’m fully self coached. Unfortunately there’s almost nothing in English about Shigeru Soh’s training online, I’ve got to reply on Google translate to understand the Japanese. I made a vid all about his training a few weeks ago so check that one out!
@RanToJapan Love your videos! Quick question: What website do you use to check Japanese athletes' PRs and stats? Your breakdowns are always so detailed, and I’d love to dive deeper into the numbers myself! Keep up the amazing content! 🙌
Cheers! I’m just getting the stats of off World Athletics. The site Japan Running News is quality for data from all the races here so I’d recommend checking that out
Cheers man 🔥 It just connects automatically with the DJI camera and I don’t touch the settings! Bit of noise reduction and EQ in post production but that’s about it
Do you eat gels when you are running a Marathon? I have seen many people saying it is essential. Then I saw your channel and you are casually running sub 2 20
if you are so good at long distances, maybe you would be one of the fastest ultra runners in the world? why not give it a shot. maybe that’s your calling
Ouf...I beg the difference. Competing against GOATs as Killian Jornet etc. Brilliant channel btw. Every 4 days am inpantiantly awaiting on the next video. Making some proper publicity for your channel in my running club and family
@@ludovicvilain1509 legend, cheers for getting the word out 🙌 What I mean is if you look at the very best ultra runners (I don’t know too much about the trail stuff but like 100km, 100mi, 24hrs etc.) they’re 2:15-2:20 marathon guys at best - I think if any of the top marathoners chose to move up distances they’d absolutely destroy all the ultra world records! But yeah I think the technical mountainous courses might be a different story. Obviously Killian is a machine over those 🦾
Can't wait to see how you do in Tokyo marathon. Easily the best running content on TH-cam right now.
🙌🙌🙌

Imagine this guy with a proper pack to run in.
I’ll finally get that next week! Got a half marathon where 100s of guys will go sub 64 🔥
Unreal content man, found you about a month ago and I'm very glad I did! Keep up the good work
Cheers mate, thanks for following along! 🎌
"Just a 12km, basically a day off" 😂
Another banger vid, he doesn't miss!
These vids have become apart my routine. I very much an amateur runner myself (who wishes he could run fast) so I live vicariously through your speedy vids 😂. Keep up the good work brother!
“ I only managed to run 12km the next day. So basically a whole day off” What??
😂
Lol
It was it tough mental battle getting through that day 😂
On my mere 140km weeks, a 10km day is the rest/recovery day. So for a 250km per week runner, 12km would feel like a holiday.
You guys have no rest days?
I fucking love that you're out here doing these crazy training experiments on yourself to see how far you can go - the passion is unreal. Welcome back Arthur lydiard
Coffee in hand, Jake's video is out, life is good man
my favourite youtube channel at the moment! keep pushing, love to see your content :) greetings from Slovakia
Congrats 4th place which is amazing!! Since I'm also running the river side Arakawa normally, hope meet with you sometime soon!!
An Absolute Missile🤣Congratulations on getting 4th place and recovery pack, Jake!
Incredible journey! You are absolutely beast
Great content Jake! Keep it up😊 cheers from Spain

Nice one! Going to watch Tokyo marathon live for the first time ever this year, going to be epic.
Yeah man!! Great momentum!

Incredible time, love seeing you do the odd shorter race. Eventually you will get sub 29 I'm sure. Smashing it!
damn, another top talent from Brum uni! You should make a video about your time there and what they put in the water.
4:37 That pro team kit is 🔥
omg I just binged all of your videos - crazy good content
Great run! Congrats!!
Another great video mate 👍 loving these, keep it up 🏃♂️

You’ve never seen any Japanese guys train or race then 😂 Thanks for following along mate!
@ Yeah, I actually had no idea. Thanks for showing us the world of Japanese running. Absolute beasts! 👊
Great run Jake, that was a class effort in a competitive race. Feel so excited for Tokyo marathon and wish i could be there 😥
Hey Jake, love watching your videos!!!
That second last item you pulled out from your prize is actually just insect repellent 😂😂😂
please keep your racing first, TH-cam second approach ❤️
your vids are gold
Big ups to you!😊Cheers from Malaysia
Thanks for reminding me to train harder, not smarter!
THE GINGER NINJA
Great run mate!
Super Run....love the vid !!
That was gas, it was a like a comedy sketch with all your creams :)
Windshielding whilst capping pro's, loving your work
Love your vids, definitely an inspiration to up my mileage more and more?
The trajectory has been up consistently. The Tokyo Marathon is gonna be exciting!
You have such cool jackets!! I also love the other one - the Paris one
dude is a charisma machine

おめでとう!!!!
Well done mate
Mans on fire 🔥 love the calf recovery strategy too 😂
Cheers buddy! Don’t tell my physio 😂
Great racing ❗ absolutely love your accent ❤️ ganbatte ❗
Congrats on your race
180KM on a taper week is crazy
Comment to push the channel! Grow and prosper.
📈📈📈
Nice vídeo ❤
Kamikaze cart horse 🐴😂😂
Excellent finish, and well earned two varieties of athlete's foot cream!
Well done 🎉 amazing
Kamikaze at Tokyo going to be amazing to watch! The pace is there 🔥🔥
You passed through our neighborhood (Kugenumabashi) 4 times yesterday. Nice run.

Bakery section with you should be called "Bake with Jake" or something.
😂
1st place 5kg bag of rice
4th place all recovery = do better next time
I guess the Japanese runners don’t leave you another choice… you gotta run in a pack with the Kenyans! 😅
41 Japanese Runners Ran 10,000m Under 28 Minutes in 2024
Carthorse 🤣
enjoying your channel. im also running in japan though your daily mileage is my weekly..
@RanToJapan Love your videos! Quick question: What website do you use to check Japanese athletes' PRs and stats? Your breakdowns are always so detailed, and I’d love to dive deeper into the numbers myself! Keep up the amazing content! 🙌

Some runner you are😊
The anti inflam/ painkiller tape is amazing. I get Loxonin Tape 100mg from Jpn, and it's bloody magic for soft tissue issues.
Any chance sending the link to them?
Amazing video as always ✌️
If I can ask how do you get so good audio from the mic 2 😅 I can’t the right levels
Cheers man 🔥 It just connects automatically with the DJI camera and I don’t touch the settings! Bit of noise reduction and EQ in post production but that’s about it
@ wow thanks! Will try that, maybe the best to let it be 😅
8:02 scran to Japan 🗣
Was Matsumoto Kiyoshi (Japanese pharmacy chain) a sponsor of the race? 😂
Wouldn’t surprise me! 😂
That secret injection is finally paying off. I'm talking about Iron ofc.
Was looking out for you in the Shinjuku half marathon today! Seems like the winner ran about a 1hr hour 10min.
@andylaurel he ran the Shonan Fujisawa half marathon today. Pb’d with 65 minutes
What camera do you use to record yourself running? great content!
Insta360 go3 - cheers bro!
@RanToJapan cheers from 🇧🇷!
What were your PBs before you started doing the big mileage?
2:38 marathon, 72 HM
182HR for 2 min 53, dope!
Joining Team GB for the 2028 Olympic Marathon?
That’s the dream!
I’m here for the scran
Do you do track races? 5000m and 10,000m?
at uni he did, now the only focus is the marathon
Yeah not anymore, my calves can’t hack wearing track spikes
Great running! Why don't the Japanese do their share of the work? Are they racing each other rather than TTing?
I guess they just see me as a perfect windbreak cos I’m bigger than them so would rather get an easy ride sitting on me!
Men you are very fast, if you start to improve your speed with sprint and very short stuff and races you will go sub 29 hands down, no doubts
I actually got slower running shorter reps before so strangely the long stuff seems to help my 5k/10k speed the most!
Whats your protein intake per day?
Horse-like level
No idea, I focus more on carbs but getting some solid fish/meat/eggs in with every meal
Do you eat gels when you are running a Marathon? I have seen many people saying it is essential. Then I saw your channel and you are casually running sub 2 20
th-cam.com/video/VlBA0hG5IDE/w-d-xo.html&feature=shared
Thanks for linking that, yeah it’s all in this vid
I’m curious, will you ever increase your mileage again? Why stop at 250km when you can do 300!
Course I’ll hit 300 eventually! I’m still recovering from anaemia atm so playing it safe with a 250 limit 😂
if you are so good at long distances, maybe you would be one of the fastest ultra runners in the world? why not give it a shot. maybe that’s your calling
It’s true I’d be much better suited to ultras but the scene just isn’t as competitive as marathoning so it’s less appealing atm!
Youd crush the 50km too i reckon @@RanToJapan. Cheers champ.

赤羽来られてたんですね。ここのパンは美味しいです。
Do you have a man in your family that’s a doctor?? Genuine question!
No! Why?? 😂
@ a professor with the same last name saved my brothers life. Thought you might be related 😂
@ jheeez well I’m glad your brother is okay and that the Barraclough name is being well represented!
first
Mate, you bloody rock! Keep up the great work ledge. 🤎🙏🏼👍🏻🔥
