Ya, the new GT500 is much more track focused and more powerful. I think it would be under 7:20. Unfortunately Ford has never cared to get lap times at the Ring. It would be interesting to see the Ford GT and shelby models. I'm certain the Ford GT could do it, and the track only limited editions of the GT could do around 6:45.
Well, a 7 second lap at the Nordchsliefer is very, very fast, you understand? The previously fasted lap by a Mustang was like 7 minutes and 39 seconds. I don't want anything to do with a car that can do a 7 second lap. I'm brave but not crazy.
If you followed the GTD testing at the Nürburgring. The day Ford was scheduled to attempt their timed lap with a camera car was rainy and cold. It was impossible for attempting a record lap. Try doing some research.
991.2 GT2RS is not heavily modified , MR is official package dealer can install on the car on request it’s include carbon discs on rear wheels, some aerodynamic bits, and different springs and dumpers , also different compound brake pads, exhaust and engine is not tuned or modified, so it’s is factory car lake corvette with zo6 package. All I get from your video is that gtd did not get record and went back empty handed, maybe next year
It's not like the ZO7 package at all. The ZO7 package is a factory option. The car just might not ship with the wing or bits like that attached for protection. You can configure it online on Chevy's website. You can do that online. Manthey Racing is literally a separate company.
MR is owned by Porsche, but regardless it’s not “heavily modified” different shocks and brake pads is not big deal, main point is that Ford will never bit it 😂
@@got_gt3612 Manthey Racing is majority owned by Porsche because they have a 51% stake in its stocks. They still operate independently though. Changes to suspension and brakes and things of that nature are significant modifications that can make a big difference. Being heavily modified is more than just added a lot of power. To say Ford will never beat it though is ignorant. In manufacturer with racing pedigree can build a car to be faster. It's a matter of how invested they are. If Ford can beat Ferrari in racing leagues why do so many think it's impossible for them to build a faster road car? Porsche is not unbeatable.
Manthey Racing is a Porsche subsidiary similar to the Mercedes AMG relationship. As such they maintain the factory warrenty and are considered factory vehicles. Porsche owns 51%.
Zr1 doesn’t have nearly as much on the ring. Straight line maybe but we haven’t have ford take out the GTD’s wing yet it downforce but the GTD for being a muscle car and corvette a sports car it is considerably lighter.
The Corvette is a super sports car, the Mustang is a muscle car. So if we look at this correctly, the Corvette is considered weak if a Mustang is racing against it
@@BruceDragon-sf1tr - Not the first time by far that the Mustang - never created to race the Corvette - has challenged it. If you're going to say that Porsche's lap time shouldn't count because it has a few third party business partner mods on it...then Ford's lap time shouldn't count either, because almost the whole dang thing is produced by a third party business partner. The whole dang car is one big third party mod. I'm perfectly fine with the "doesn't count" thing if that's your perspective, but don't apply it to one car and not the other just because you favor the other car. That would be pretty disingenuous.
This guy presents so unauthentic. Straining to annunciate words perfectly coupled with robotic head bobbing. It’s like ChatGTP designed a human and he popped out.
Ford didn't build the GTD. The Canadian company MultiMatic built it. And engineered it. Ford pays for all this, but Ford engineers are not the brains behind it. Ford outsourced that to others. Great car, but not a Ford engineered product.
altohugh technicalities are at play, I think the GTD (although incredible) is as much of a production car as the GT2RSMR. It is built for purpose, not unlike everyone who said the Radical SR8 laptime wasn't a road car when it went under 7 minutes 19 years ago. TRhe GTD is an incredible and amazing thing and yes I would love one, but it really isn't a "production car" any more than an AMG One is. They are limited run special machines. Just my opinion, and yesI think this will beat the GT2RS, and then the battle will continue and Porsche will take it back again in the not too distant future.
@TD-047 no i think more than Gt2Rs MR but not just GT2RS. This is also not putting any shade in the GTD in anyway, but purpose building a car to do a specific task (even if only to market it) doesn't really constitute a production car to me. Again... only my opinion. I am not ever going to own either of them. I do applaud Ford for taking up this challenge though.
The MR isn't a production car, it's an Add on catalog option which you get after purchasing the car from Porsche, the Mustang GTD is built and made by Ford and Multimatic and sold by Ford exclusively, you can't buy a Mustang and go to Multmatic and ask them to turn it into a GTD. It's not the same, and even officials claim that the MR Porsche is not an official lap record by the stock Porsche 911 GT3 RS, many car review websites claim the same thing. What my or your opinion of it is, doesn't change that.

Agreed on the time, its in the same time window as the C7 ZR1 .....fast but not capable of a sub 7m run!!! The C8 ZR1 has probably already broken the 7m mark during prototype testing and as we know GM doesn't like to talk lap time numbers for the Corvette!! Whats needed is a privateer to get their hands on one and set an official time, I predict somewhere around the 6:40 mark!!! The Mustang is not capable of that only the Ford GT can push the Vette!!!
Its going to take a lot more than sub 7 minutes to beat the european cars. The gt3 rs gets sub 7 minutes easy, just cruising in the nordschleife and AMG holds the top 2 track records. For 350k dollars, it better go below 7 minutes, otherwise its useless.

"The Mustang GTD uses 325mm wide tires in front with 345mm rubbers in the rear Michelin cup2R's. Standard wheels are 20-inch forged aluminum, but optional magnesium wheels"
"a Multimatic spokesperson shared with us that the GTD will produce more downforce at 150 mph than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the same speed."
I know it's a lot to read, but I just wanted to put it in perspective, how close the Mustang is to the AMG GT Black Series in terms of specs (to be honest it kinda beats it on paper in most). Yet the AMG GT Black Series beats the 911 GT3 RS on that track, I think it's safe to say that as long as the GTD doesn't exceed 3,600-3,700 lbs it's well within having an advantage, so I personally wouldn't imagine it to be at a disadvantage if it has more than 3,200 at all.
@@benjaminmatute9085 more like 3900 lbs.
Sub 7sec lap time? I'd have to see that (if seeing something going that fast is possible.).
Ford probably feels they can improve their time in spring
The 7:39 or so was S197 mustang GT500, not the latest GT500
Ya, the new GT500 is much more track focused and more powerful. I think it would be under 7:20. Unfortunately Ford has never cared to get lap times at the Ring. It would be interesting to see the Ford GT and shelby models. I'm certain the Ford GT could do it, and the track only limited editions of the GT could do around 6:45.
That last record was from a 2014 gt500, not a 2020 gt500.
Well, a 7 second lap at the Nordchsliefer is very, very fast, you understand? The previously fasted lap by a Mustang was like 7 minutes and 39 seconds. I don't want anything to do with a car that can do a 7 second lap. I'm brave but not crazy.
I don't think the flash could do the ring in under 7 seconds. So the GTD must be by far the fastest thing with wheels, ever!
If you followed the GTD testing at the Nürburgring. The day Ford was scheduled to attempt their timed lap with a camera car was rainy and cold. It was impossible for attempting a record lap. Try doing some research.
@6:53 , you mispoke and said 7 seconds, wouldn't that be amazing...lol. Still, love your videos and car coverage. Keep up the good work!
Forget the Europeans, it's got to go faster than a Viper ACR around the ring.
MR is owned by Porsche, but regardless it’s not “heavily modified” different shocks and brake pads is not big deal, main point is that Ford will never bit it 😂
Its not a modified version. Just yall accept rhe fucking truth. Damn...
@@quentinfreeman7516you can literally get the manthey package at your local Porsche dealer 😂😂😂😂
So the best case scenario for Ford is to beat the laptime of the old GT2 RS? A car that's now nearly 7 years old? 😂
Manthey Racing is a Porsche subsidiary similar to the Mercedes AMG relationship. As such they maintain the factory warrenty and are considered factory vehicles. Porsche owns 51%.
The gt3 rs has a time of 6:44 and that can always be considered an official time
They know the ZR1 is coming and said let's get the hell out here.
Zr1 doesn’t have nearly as much on the ring. Straight line maybe but we haven’t have ford take out the GTD’s wing yet it downforce but the GTD for being a muscle car and corvette a sports car it is considerably lighter.
@@benjaminmatute9085straight line maybe lol? 220-250 hp advantage and rear engine
@@johnlukach4091 And a 500-600 pound advantage for ford with the significantly lighter GTD.
In SCCA road racing B Production Class, the GT350 hammered the Corvette for 3 straight Championship years, '65, '66 and '67. It also accomplished that with a smaller engine - 289 vs 327!
Ford does NOT build the Mustang GTD Multimatic did.
Ford is still heavily involved not to mention the Ford power plant.
Well at my track in the longest straight…most cars including race cars hit 235-245 klm (in Canada so metric) in my GT2RS without the manthey upgrade I’ve reached 275 klm …I’m not a professional.. more like gear head weekend warrior…obviously on Hoosiers it’s where I catch up to many pros .. never raced but have been a track lapping guy for the past 25 years… have 5 track cars ..
There was a clip in ford official pages stating that the documentary will be released in October 29th! But then they deleted these clips
No way in hell it’s beating that Benz.
12 miles in 7 seconds is about 1,228 MPH. 😮
Dude said they are trying to modify certain things on the GTD but also discredited the GT2RS time cause it was modified lmao
GTD .. in Europe means gran tourismo diesel ;-) fast car
I think Ford made that statement about no north American manufacturer making a sub-seven minute car is just that, a statement. They're is no sub-context
The gt500 lap record was set by a personal owned car, not Ford
Wonder if they could beat the ZL1 1LE?
until today sadly no laptime...
You probably should redo the video!
You should have said have instead of of.😏
GTD lap time update : .............. ............ .... ................ .... ..... ...
Bro..a 300k mustang better be Eleanor
"Less than 'seven' seconds?" Editing?
There will be more GTDs than the GT2RS.
@leofhr2966 yep.
@leofhr2966 the GT2RS is a production car though
Surely GTD means diesel. Tuned 6.7L Power Stroke V8.
the GTD uses a non stock engine, transmission, rear end, or suspension
Must have done it.
You said under 7 seconds so many times… how could you misspeak repeatedly like that and not catch it? First time seeing your channel
Would a Person that Drives that Track More then anyone at Ford help out Better?
Perfect time for GM to steal it from Ford
This is nice, but Farley needs to focus on keeping Ford in business. Farley needs to be replaced.
Looks like GM is going to beat you again the new ZR1 is out
They chose the wrong time of year to do laps , thats all
Hey I just wanted say that the 2020 gt500 was never tested at the Nurburgring that was the time of the 2014 gt500 which was 7:39 also the gt350r is the fastest mustang at the Nurburgring which is 7:15 also the 2016+ ford gt was also never tested
I’m curious when did the Mustang GT350R set a timed Lap of 7:15 at the Nurburgring?? because it’s definitely not documented anywhere that I can find . @fastestlaps shows all the fastest documented Lap Times. I see where the Camaro ZL1 1LE ran 7:16….I don’t ever recall Ford releasing a Lap time for the GT350R at the Ring. And I’m pretty sure the ZL1 1LE is a quicker car on a Road Course then the GT350R.
Nope there's a video of the gt350r hitting 7:15. Saw it with my own eyes.
@robijd1112 That 3yr old video that you saw the GT350R was not running the long course Lol, the long straight was not run during that lap!!
It reminds me of MG ZR.. The last try from (the real)MG.
The amg 1 has electric motors as well, so gas vs gas, the GTD should take the win.
Pure copium. Weather never stopped Porsche or mercedes from getting lap time records
Simple. It’s BS marketing to sell more Mustangs!
@PDaddy44 - Really? I would be more likely to say it is SMART marketing to sell more Mustangs! You do realize it is the best selling sports coupe in the world, don't you?
Good to see Ford getting after it. The ZL1 1LE hit 7:16……we should get a Z06 and ZR1 time this year, both will easily be sub 7.
Z06 did 7:10. Pretty disappointing if you ask me. Look up Sport Auto Z06 time.
Their track day got rained out. Track closed. Gotta wait till next year for your disappointment. 7:10 is the best that car will run.
Mercedes amg one is 5.5 mill.
Its going to take a lot more than sub 7 minutes to beat the european cars. The gt3 rs gets sub 7 minutes easy, just cruising in the nordschleife and AMG holds the top 2 track records. For 350k dollars, it better go below 7 minutes, otherwise its useless.
Seven minutes not seconds
How long does it take one ☝🏾 loud mouth manufacturer to set a lap time? You seriously sound like some gtd fanboy…. Factcheck says Manthey racing is actually PORSCHE…
Ford might want to stay in their lane and 7 seconds 😂😂😂😂😂
$300k it should beat the 7 minute lap. The new ZR1 will beat it.
You said seven seconds too many times lmao 🤣
The ZR1 will definitely be under 7 minutes. I suspect the Z06 is probably pretty close.
Z06 7:10 GM was so embarassed they didn´t publish their laptime
@erraldstyler Its still a very fast time and definitely left a little on the table. 7:05-7:06 is definitely possible.
Biggest problem it had was the last straight. 5th gear apparently too tall.
2016 gt350R did 7.32, so the gt500 is slower not the fastest mustang
7 secs beat that amg
800 horsepower with a zero to 60 time similar to a 500 horsepower c8 corvette... Shows how inefficient the mustang is.
7 seconds ⁉️😖🙄
Who can round it in 6 SECONDS?? ELON the Musk?
Less than 7 seconds..😶😅😂🤣🤦♂️
They didn't say anything about hypercars. Ford simply said sub 7 MINUTES. Oh, and it rained the day they were supposed to time. They packed up and went home.
Hypercars is too low of a category at 7 seconds XD
Talking to the camera like you’re reading to a bunch of 4 year olds…. Lame
Being on camera is new to me and I am still getting comfortable with it.
7 seconds of credibility 😢
EDIT your Videos, you said 7 "SECONDS" TWICE (2:46)&(3:22) BEFORE I STOPPED Watching........ It's Sub 7 MINUTES!!!!! NO more of YOUR channel.....
This car MUST rewrite the laws of physics, or it's will be a let down. Lol. So I think I can conclude this host isn't really a car guy. I don't see how even somebody who's just reading a script and doesn't really have any genuine interest in the material can not notice how ridiculous seven seconds is. There is no circuit anywhere that can be driven in 7 seconds in any type of car, lol, let alone the longest in the world.
Love that mustang but 2 ZR1s and a shop ,
or 1 mustang ????
The ZR1 is 20 mph faster and a 1/2 a MINUTE!!! quicker around the ring ....................................Here comes Zora😊
What are you taking for medication son? The GTD has no published time around the Ring yet!
@Loulovesspeed NO they haven't PUBLISHED IT .Of course not.Thats why they left and won't be back for 6 months . I love the car but it's not where they thought it would be . THE CORVETTE IS EVEN BETTER THAN
PLANNED TO BE. and it less than half the price..Back to my 2 vettes and a shop or one GTD in a driveway.🌞
@Loulovesspeed
Son ? 🐢💨
lm not taking medication
for anything . Seems like l struck a nerve. You should take something for it.
@@braddavidson3568 YOU SAID: "The ZR1 is 20 mph faster and a half a minute quicker around the Ring." How can that be anything but B.S. when the Mustang has no published time ??? Oh, were you there to watch it in person with your stop watch, etc.? All your comments amount to nothing more than a pile of 💩. I'll wait until Spring to get the real facts, thank you!
@Loulovesspeed It is .Thats not coming from me..Ford went without a clock. ☻️Others did. You will eat that this spring then mustang breath.
